Instinct
DrabblesGary had panic attacks often.
Increasing heartbeat, increasing breathing.
Sometimes, his heart rate might become too high, until his chest constricts, and he finally collapses on the ground.
It was a warning sign that something was not right.
Except that his body is perfectly fine.
He had perfect instincts.
Those were warning signs that something he is doing, or is about to do, is not right.
The moment he had eye contact with Ji Hyo, his attack started again. He collapsed on the ground, clutching his chest, gasping for air. His friend, Dong Hoon, immediately searched in his bags for his medicine. It happened so often, he was already familiar with the procedure.
Jihyo walked over to the pair.
“What’s going on?” she asked. “Do you need help?” she started to bend over.
His chest tightened. His eyes rolled over until only the whites are seen. His breathing quickened and he started go thrash wildly.
“Go…” he gasped.
Dong Hoon threw Gary on his back and carried him away, ignoring Jihyo.
As long he was away, his attacks subsided. Dong Hoon sighed in relief.
“What the heck?” he asked. “That was the worst attack you’ve had.”
“I’m sorry,” Gary mumbled.
“Was it that girl?”
Gary looked away.
“Stay away from her.”
That was a year ago now.
Throughout his entire life-, he had always had made the most logical decision- to follow his perfect instincts. But sometimes, the logical instinct isn’t the right answer.
Now he stood with her in bliss, glad that for once, for once he followed his heart.
