I like a boy from my school, who is 3 years older than me, which means that next year, I won’t be able to see him again. I added him as a friend on facebook but we had never spoken at school. I’ve known him since last year. On the last day of school last year, I smiled at him and he smiled back. However, this year, he changed… we stopped contacting each other. After a few months, he gave me signs that he likes me, but it’s an on-off sort of thing. Sometimes, he’ll look at me and smile (but I don’t smile back) and sometimes when I look at him, he looks away. My friends always say that he likes me, but I don’t feel that he does. What should I do? ;/

Well it does seem like that boy likes you. Since boys are different from us girls, they express themselves differently from us. To you it may seem like he doesn't really like you, but since you are like the person involved here, you may not be seeing things 'clearly'. Therefore, I advise you to listen to your friends since they have confirmed that the guy likes you! You should ask them questions like how they realised that the boy likes you, what the boy did that made it seem like he likes you, etc. Things may seem a lot clearer to you if you take it from the perspective of others.

As for looking away from you when you look at him or giving on-off signs, he may just be shy or embarrassed because he doesn't want you to know that he was looking at you or be too 'obvious'. The boy you like seems pretty shy in this sort of thing, so why don't you start talking to him first? He may be waiting for you to make the first move. Besides, you won't be seeing him again next year. So now is practically your last chance to confess to him.

I can empathise with you. There is a boy that I like who gives me weird signals. When I look at him, he looks away. But at times, he looks at me and smiles. The best thing to do would be to BE YOURSELF J

One little thing to take note of though. If the both of you do start a relationship, it may be hard next year since you will not be seeing each other much. NOT discouraging you from approaching him, just saying that you should prepare for this. But there’s a saying that distance may bring the heart closer.
