It Might Be You... Who Knows? (Sec. 3/Chapter 11 -Page 3/3)
It Might Be You... Who Knows...Sequel Story: The King and I (Will start at Chapter 537)Continuation - as promised....
Minho enters his classroom pay no heed to his classmates murmurs. He sits at the backside area beside the window. When he realizes that the subjects to be taught the entire day would be Math, History and Science (his favorite subjects are Physical Education and Arts – he sighs and says, “Aahh it’s dreaming time again”. It is now the first period of his class, he is trying to stay focus at some point of the subject being taught however can’t just have the patience to do so.
While in the middle of the class, he spots the garden house just near from his place, which he thinks would be a wonderful place to spend boring moments. “Aaahh, Bummie’s Sanctuary place”...
Meanwhile, on the other side where Kibum’s located; he is listening intently what the instructor is teaching, needless to say that he already knows the entire lessons for the whole year but still decides to take part in the class.
Teacher: Today we will be discussing about Shakespeare’s great works. I understand this is a subject that most of
you will find it boring but this will help you understand the background of how great literature had started.
Can anyone give an example of – ok – Shakepeare’s works?
Juri; the teacher, avoiding all possibilities of not wanting to call Kibum as she knows how brilliant this kid is – and she is afraid; Kibum in the process be engrossed and too involve in the subject would result in giving a way for an open debate discussion. Thus, she is likely does not want to dig her own grave.
This situation reminds her of one of her colleague who shared a story of how Kibum’s intellectual capacity is really amazing that if feeling frustrated he thought he was tremendously failing as a teacher, she remembers him saying; “Am not kidding you know, this kid is like a computer database – he recites flawlessly as if you are listening to a computer talking – and you might not want to challenge him for a debate coz you would look like a squirming dog with its tail hidden behind, if you get what I mean.”
So she waits for a volunteer student to participate but sighs in dismay when none of them is eager to take part. “For these kids at 13, who would – I mean they’d rather talk about idols or fashions or gossips but – Shakespeare? I don’t think so”; she glances at the Kibum who is quietly working on his laptop. She also believes that Kibum’s classmates are hesitant to partake as to the following reasons: does not care or doesn’t want to make a fool of himself or herself being embarrassment in the presence of Kibum. “Ahh, what will I do – this will leave me no alternative. This is my lucky day perhaps”
Thus, the teacher getting impatient decides to call Kibum.
Juri: (Thinking to herself, oh my – I hope he doesn’t ask question though am good at it – this boy is way better
than me) hhmm… Mr. Kim, since none of them (pointing to the whole class) would like to go for it; I
believe that you may have an idea of what our topic is for today. Will you give me an example?
While waiting for Kibum’s response; she curses herself for calling Kibum for the reason that she knows when the latter starts to open his lips – students are sent to dreamland – mesmerizing over Kibum including her but like she has a choice. However she thinks, on a positive light having Kibum might just save her grueling day trying to put a light mood to these students of few.
So while the class was going on, students were starting to feel nauseated with the whole literature thing – as you know; early part of our education, subjects are normally obligatory whether you like it or not – part of the curriculum to take them all in. However for Kibum who is a fan of literature, biographies – etc.; well books of any kind he finds interesting is a must read for him.
Kibum: (face detaches focus on his laptop and lifts up – looks at all his classmates and sighs in defeat) First, I
understand how this subject is boring to all of you – not even me can save your day from boredom (then
he hears someone saying)
“Oh if it is you, I will not be bored at all…”
“yeah, me too.”
(His shakes his head in amusement and at the same time thinking what would be the best way to lighten
the now so bored atmosphere he can feel) so let me explain it to all of you in a different way – a good
adaptation would be - the movie, 10 Things I Hate About You – please take note, not the older adaptation
but the current one. It is a story of two sisters having different goals in life; one is an intelligent, strong-
willed, cool yet blunt while the other one is the goody-cutie type who dreams of fairy tales.
The strong girl finding her match when she met an intense guy who changed her views about so many
things. This we called in Shakespeare’s work “The Taming of The Shrew”. Petruchio’s taming of the
headstrong and unyielding shrew – Katherina; until she becomes willing and obedient wife.
I know you can all relate to the story. What Shakespeare is trying to point out in my opinion is
submission, compromise and love regardless of gender. Also, to show on how often we pretend to be
something we are not in order to get something we want?(He pauses to inhale to continue but forces to
stop when he notices that all his classmate are currently in a wonderful dreamy state – turns to face his
teacher, who is also caught up in a rapture of her own fantasy).
Eherm…I think am done… (Sits and goes back to what he is doing on his computer)…
As he finishes with his explanation; his entire classmate including his teacher are sent back to reality and – so, they sigh and look at each other …then whispers are heard…
“He is so young but he is so good”
“aahhh, yes…”
Taeyang who is just nearby can’t control his laughter watching the reaction of the students as well as the teacher. Juri says,
Juri: eeheemm (he is so cute and so good – whoa, hush snap out of it, Juri – don’t embarrass yourself in front
of the class) eerrr, Mr. Kim, thank you very much for the wonderful explanation
Kibum: You are most welcome Ma’m (and smiles in the sweetest manner)…
And the students go into blissful adoring frenzy…
“Oh, he is so cute”…
“I can watch him all day for all I care”…
Juri: (oh my, he is really so cute; aaaiggoooo – why was I ever born ahead of him – hmmph…) okay, class –
look at me… (When the entire class does not respond – for the second time she calls all their attention -
she claps and says) Everyone, may I request for your attention? I have an important announcement to
make!
Class: (All snap out of it and turn to Juri and says in unison) Yes, Ms. Juri…
Juri: Finally, I thought you are all going to be lost in your own world – Well, I just would like to announce that
the School Festival is coming and me, as your head organizer will be teaming you up to other sections of
the class since every class holds few number of students. Therefore; I thought of this idea so that at least
in this manner – it would be easy for you to arrive with an activity proposal for the event.
This class – “Black Diamond” will be teamed up with “Orange Diamond”; and for this class I will choose a
leader, whose role is to lead and represent your group. I am calling on Ms. Seohyun – to represent this
class. Ms. Seohyun, meet up with Ms. Hyoyeon of the Orange Diamond class and decide what activity
you will have on the final night of the festival.
Seohyun: (excitedly responds) Yes, Ms. Juri.
Juri: So class let me inform you that this year’s festival, guests and parents will be invited in this event. Of
course, invitations will be handed out for your parents and relatives.
End of Section 3 Chapter 11 - Hope it is alright - I kind of injected a bit of Shakespeare topic - I love Shakespeare's works ... and other great writers too...
Chapter 12 - in the process.... thank you for reading... please be patient...
