Waiting

The Kim Twins

Jongin felt the lump in his throat as he sat on his bed facing Kyungsoo, Jongin merely said he had needed to talk to Soo and now he could see the anxious look in his friend's eyes clearly worried what could have Jongin acting this way."Kyungsoo...I" Jongin began, he was so afraid to finally admit what he had been holding in for so long. He looked at Kyungsoo again, studying his face just in case this was the last time they were close like this. Jongin looked at the older boys warm brown eyes that shone with the light of something Jongin didn't recognise, his delicate skin, white like snow and glowing with youth and health, his heart-shaped lips that were so plump and inviting and that often broke into the most heartwarming smile Jongin had ever seen. Jongin had no idea how Kyungsoo would react to his confession, no idea if his friendship would survive these words.

"What is it, Nini? You know you can tell me anything." Kyunsoo reassured him with that smile that Jongin loved so much and he couldn't help but smile in response. Kyungsoo reached out to take Jongin's hand, lacing their fingers together and giving Jongin a soft nudge with his other hand.

Jongin really didn't think about what he was doing anymore it's like his body had taken control, he brushed Kyungsoo's hair behind his ear and slowly, painfully slow, closed the distance between them until the tips of their noses were touching. Jongin felt Kyungsoo's hand tighten around his and heard as his breaths became shallow. Jongin looked away before meeting Kyungsoo's gaze once more looking for consent before he went any further. Kyungsoo swallowed the lump in this throat before softly placing his lips on Jongin's, Jongin smiled against Kyungsoo's lips before returning the soft gentle kisses.

Jongin had kissed countless men on his nights out as Kai but never like this, there wasn't a passion or a ual desire fueling them, they were savouring the feeling of their lips connecting, the taste of each other in their mouths. Jongin placed a hand against Kyungsoo's neck to pull him further into the kiss. Kyungsoo pulled his hand out of Jongin's and wrapped his arms tightly against his waist. Jongin raised his free hand and gripped at Kyungsoo's dark, silky tresses.

Jongin pulled away, biting his lip as he looked into Kyungsoo's eyes "You don't know how long I've dreamt of that" Jongin began blushing at his own words. "Kyungsoo-ya I...I care for you very deeply and I don't want to be just your friend anymore, I can't, my heart can't take it anymore."

Kyungsoo placed his forehead against Jongin's and said, in no more than a whisper "I've been yours this whole time Nini, I was just waiting for you to notice." Jongin couldn't help but smile and Kyungsoo's words, his Kyungsoo's words. His, damn that felt good to say, it felt correct to call Soo his.

They were both removed from the moment they shared by Hyuna muttering "finally" loud enough for them to hear, she was leaning in the door frame with a bright smile in place from ear to ear. "The parents just left, they're going on a trip for a few days." Hyuna began to walk away but she stopped looked at the two over her shoulder and flashed a wink. She was proud of the role she had played in this, a role far greater than either of them knew.

----

Hyuna emerged from her en suite bathroom, face slightly damp from just washing it, wet strands of hair hung to her face and she was wrapped in her silk nightgown. Hyuna sat in front of her vanity and picked up the black plastic paddle brush and began guiding it through the ends of her hair, brushing them until satisfied and then moving the brush higher until all of her golden locks were neatly brushed and soft to the touch. Grabbing two bobby pins from a pot she pinned her fringe out of her face before unscrewing a tub of cream, lightly dabbing a finger in and smoothly massaging it into her skin.

On days like this, when Hyuna was feeling down, she made sure to pamper herself more than usual when performing her nighttime routine in an attempt to have her feeling more relaxed before bed with the intention of getting her to fall into her slumber faster so that she didn't reflect on the day's events and make herself feel worse than she already did. Hyuna was more emotional than she would like to admit and she had spent too many nights crying over events that had happened during the days.

Hyuna looked at herself in the mirror and sighed her mother had always told her that she was too pretty to have problems in life and because she came from a wealthy family she would never have to worry about anything. How Hyuna wished that was true, how she wished that she still held on to the ignorance of her childhood. The truth is no amount of beauty or money will get you anything you don't deserve and Hyuna wanted the best, she wanted to prove she could be more than a pretty face with a rich husband, she studied herself into an early grave, did more extracurricular activities than she could count all so that she could have a chance of gaining a scholarship. She would never accept one, she felt it was more important for someone who couldn't afford higher education without it to receive one, she just wanted to know she was good enough.

Hyuna heard a familiar ringing and looked down at her phone and couldn't help but groan. Of all the numbers to call her this is the last one she wanted, especially today of all days. Hyuna longed to find the strength to ignore or reject the caller like they had to her so many times, but in a different way. However, Hyuna wasn't strong enough and without fully registering what she was doing she slid her finger along the screen to answer the phone and placed it to her ear. "I told you not to call me."

Hyuna heard the voice on the other side scoff before answering her "You never told me what would happen if I did."

"My invitation came in the mail today. You're really sick you know that?" Hyuna didn't wait for a reply she hung up and slammed the phone down in front of her with a screech.

Hyuna didn't realise Jongin was there until he eventually spoke up "Was that?" He asked in a gentle but also angry tone clearly unhappy with the situation his sister had got herself in but, he would be there for her, no matter what. Hyuna didn't answer, she couldn't. Warm tears ran down her face and the only thing that escaped her lips were soft sobs. She felt her brother's arms wrap around her tightly and place a gentle kiss on her head "I'll kill him, Hyun. I swear for what he's doing to you I'll kill him."
