It was early December then, I remember it so clearly. Snow was falling from the sky as it was the first time in the winter season to do so, everyone was out and about, busy Christmas shopping while I was alone, walking around the chilly streets of Seoul

 

A big exam for school was just two days away and through out this whole day, I was locked up inside my room, studying away. I wanted to get out, breathe in fresh air for once 

 

While I was admiring the falling snow and the bustling sounds of the city, inside my pocket vibrated. I didn't know who it was or what it could be, but I still opened it and checked 

 

"Don't stay inside studying for an exam that's two days away! Go outside for once and get some fresh air. You're missing out on the first snow fall of the season"  The text read, I laughed to myself, it was Minho who texted me, aka my best friend

 

"For you information, I am outside. I'm walking around. You disturbed my peace, thanks :p" I typed, pressing send. I looked up at the sky again and surprisingly a snowflake landed on my nose 

 

This is one reason why I love early December. Snow starts to fall and Christmas is just around the corner. My two favorite things about winter. I smiled to myself, thinking what could Minho be doing right now, is he watching the snow fall too? 

 

"For once, you took my advice. Doesn't being outside make you feel free instead of staying indoors and studying? Oh, you're absolutely welcome, my dear best friend. Ahah" I got another text, this time, I rolled my eyes, laughing eventually 

 

When I was going to reply, Minho called me. What could this dude want now? I let it ring for a few more seconds before answering, I wanted to annoy him a little 

 

When I finally picked the phone up, all I get was screaming, literally making my ears burst in pain

 

"Why didn't pick up in the first ring? I saw you clearly, your phone was in your hand and you clearly let it ring, how could you?" Minho says, I laughed, but then again, it got me thinking. How does he know that? 

 

"Ya!  Are you stalking me? How did you know that?" I asked back, sounding surprised, which i really was 

 

"So it is true! Ahah, I caught you" Minho replies, 'sigh', he's teasing me again. What a best friend 

 

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. What do you want?" I now said, sounding a little more cold than before 

 

"Watch your mouth young lady, I'm still your Oppa" Minho says, I chuckle at his remark 

 

"Sorry Oppa" I said in an Aeygo voice, knowing that he hates that voice whenever I do it, it was one of the things I would do to annoy the heck out of him 

 

"Let's meet up, I want to tell you something and it's urgent" Minho said, I noticed how his voice changed, it sounded more serious. He wasn't playing when he said, it's urgent 

 

 I agreed up to meet up, he told me the place and I obliged. While I was heading to the said place, I had a feeling and it wasn't good, well at least that's what's it telling me. I hope it isn't 

 

I pulled my jacket closer to my body, suddenly the chills came to my body and I was starting to get really cold. Why am I suddenly feeling this way? Minho, what have you done? Did you put a curse on me? 

 

Per usual, I'm the first one. That's the thing about Minho, he makes the plan but shows up late. Who does that? I was standing by myself, practically waiting out in the open, freezing. It wasn't until, I felt warm fingers over my eyes, finally the devil showed up 

 

"Look who finally came" I mumbled, Minho chuckled softly behind me, close enough to my ear. It gave me chills, oh what am I even saying? 

 

"Well a simple hi would be great" Minho responded, laughing now. It brought music to my ears, hearing the soft sound. Little did I know, it was going to be the last time I'll be hearing it 

 

"What do you want?" I asked, removing his hands from my eyes. When I looked at him, his face fell into a small grim, it was almost emotionless 

 

"I want to say goodbye" He answers me, looking down at the ground. I started to laugh, thinking he was joking with me but now that I closely looked at his face, he was indeed serious about his words

 

"I'm leaving, for good. I've been accepted to a prestige university in the States. And to put it all together, my family wants to move there too. So which means, I'm leaving Korea forever and that's including you." Minho continues, I was speechless, I didn't know what to say. My best friend is leaving me? 

 

But why now? 

 

We stayed silent, I tried to process in my head what I heard, it was all too much. He can't leave me, I need him. I need my best friend with me 

 

"You can't leave me though, I need my best friend here. Minho, please, don't" I stated, breaking the ice and also breaking into tears. He stared at me, eventually pulling me into a hug, whispering continuously, 'I'm sorry' 

 

"When are you leaving?" I asked, his response broke my heart into pieces. He was leaving in less than 24 hours which means I only have this moment to be with him, it was too little. 

 

"Why didn't you tell me that you got accepted when you first found out? Aren't I important? Shouldn't I know too? I'm your best friend, you should have told me, so I can prepare myself" I said, now, we were sitting down on a bench. It was awkwardly quiet, it was never like this 

 

"This is why I didn't want to tell you at first, you'd cry and that's going to make it harder for me. I didn't want you to get hurt because of me." Minho responded 

 

"Even though—" I started out but stopped. I didn't want to prolong this, I want to leave a happy thought before he's going away 

 

"I love you Sulli more than anything and I couldn't bare to see you hurt. Thats why didn't tell you. Sulli, we need to move on with our life's. I can't always be with you, we both got to accept that" Minho says, taking my hand, grasping it firmly 

 

"Alright then. Promise me one thing though" I responded, finally swallowing my pride and letting my best friend go 

 

"And what is that?" Minho asked me, grinning slightly at me now, but I can tell it wasn't happy, it was rather sorrowful 

 

"Remember me and our friendship." I said, looking at him intently. Now he started to show me a genuine smile, even showing that cheeky smile. I wanted to capture his smiling face, so whenever I feel down, I can always look at it and remember all the good times we've shared together

 

"I promise" He swore to his heart, at least for now, my heart is at rest. It's mending, maybe after all, this separation will be the best for us 

 

Early December will always be special to me. Because that's when I let my best friend go and how our life changed because of it, rather for the best and not the worst 

 

"See you soon, Best Friend." Was our last spoken words to each other, I didn't regret one bit of it. Because the mere words of 'see you soon' isn't saying 'good bye' forever, it just means that sometime in our future we'll see each other again and unite as best friends again in an Early December day
