Her phone is ringing loud, and persistent, and Youngji curses her stupidity not to turn off that troublesome device for the whole night. When she checks the time, it’s 2 o’clock and Bratty Nam is the one who is responsible for disturbing her sleep.
“What?!” She snaps, regretting already why she should pick up his call. But knowing Nam Taehyun, picking up the call seems like the right choice. Because he is Nam Taehyun and the devil always gets what he wants.
“I’m sick.”
Sitting in the edge of her bed, Youngji closes her eyes for a moment, sighing loudly. She starts to massage her head in exhaustion because she really doesn’t know what it means when he said he’s sick with his perfectly calm voice.
“I’m not lying, Heo Youngji.”
Youngji snorts. “Yeah,” She lies on the bed again. “Go to hospital or something instead of bothering my sleep!”
“Why should I go to hospital? It’s 2 o’clock in the morning.”
Youngji yells loudly, frustrated. “That’s why! It’s 2 o’clock in the morning so save your lame joke and let others sleep peacefully!”
It is silence and she thinks Taehyun finally understands and will let her sleep.
“Okay. But I’m seriously sick and I need you to be here, Youngji-ah.”
But of course Nam Taehyun will never do that.

He has a fever—not too serious, but like a child he needs attention. Youngji comes to his apartment since they live in the same building, only different floor. She punches the password and comes in grumpily, eyes barely open and she hates the cold of the early morning.
She diligently cooks potato soup because making porridge will be too much trouble and the devil is actually alright. He just needs attention (like he usually does) and Youngji is not even surprised anymore at his increasing level of annoying behavior. She has known him quite a while—since she’s best friend of obnoxious Wang Jackson and the latter then introduced her to his-very-cool-underground-rapper-hyung Song Mino, who has sassy male cousin named Nam Taehyun. Who shockingly lives in the same apartment building as hers.
Taehyun even bluntly said he didn’t like her when Mino introduced her as his girlfriend, and both Youngji and Taehyun kept fighting to win Mino’s side. Taehyun was awfully rude (is, still until now) and upon of constant explanation and assurance from Mino that it’s Taehyun’s nature to be over-protective with his hyung, Youngji finally could calm herself without badly wanting to strangle the neck of the devil’s whenever Devil Nam threw sarcastic remark toward her.
The thing about Nam Taehyun—though—that still amuses her until now, is his unexpected kindness. Or loyalty. When she broke up with his cousin after five months of dating (she’s crying to sleep and living like walking corpse), it’s actually Nam Taehyun who loyally stays by herself. Jackson too, but since he just got mutation overseas, he saw her less. Maybe it’s because he lives upstairs, at that time she thought.
“I know my cousin is kind of a jerk.” He remarked at some night, fussing around in her kitchen while the owner herself could only stare at the ceiling blankly on the couch. “He doesn’t worth to be cried to.”
Youngji didn’t say anything. In fact, Mino and her ended up everything in a good way. But she didn’t expect that the aftermath would feel this miserable.
“I mean, look at me. I’m a jerk, it’s genetic thing maybe.” Taehyun continued, appeared in the living room with warm lem
