To call today as bad day is such an understatement. The big audition Heo Youngji has been waiting for is today but it seems the fortune goddess doesn’t wish her good luck. In the very big day of hers, her alarm clock is off and she forgot to charge her phone last night. She gets dressed in hurry, but still tries to steal time to make a toast—which is burning because she’s busy searching for the blazer that has been prepared three weeks ago.
She’s in hurry to the bus stop only to find the bus already left and doesn’t want to waste another time, Youngji hails taxi. Turns out, her purse—wallet, ID card, all kind of cards, her phone with dead battery are still on her bed. She instructs the driver to change the lane and back to her apartment. She pays double when the taxi reaches the agency building. With an empty stomach, she walks inside and is greeted by the cynical receptionist who doesn’t appreciate her lateness. Her mind is in mess, the acting that she has prepared since her admission into acting class is a complete failure when the judge needs her to show it off.
Youngji goes straight home after that, purposely slows down her steps as raindrops one by one fall freely from the sky and soak her without mercy. She keeps staring blankly at the window once she gets on the bus. When she finally cleans herself in her apartment’s bathroom, she can’t stop her brain to list down the unfortunates she has lately.
Her mother asked her to be the one who manages the new branch of their family café in Garosugil but she refused because she’s enrolled in acting major not for nothing. She has the passion for acting, like how her sister has passion for classical music. But instead of full of bad luck, her sister is quite succeeds on her chosen path, while on the other side, Youngji realizes how uncertain her future is.
Goo Hara, the co-owner of the apartment and her best friend has already left to Japan to continue her career as rookie model there. Wang Jackson, her bickering partner since college seems doing well too. His first drama is starred by the famous JB and it becomes huge success. And then look at herself? The biggest role she could get was Cinderella in cheap play with the weirdest plot twist ever.
It’s not even talking about her romance—Oh Sehun is no romanticist. They have been through on and off relationship, and when she thinks she’s really done with his tactlessness, she decides to break up (again). Only for real this time.
Tightening her bathrobe, she heaves a sigh. Why is life so unfair to her? Why is everything falling apart yet everybody still fine? Why is it only me who continuously suffers? Youngji bitterly thinks as moves onto her bed. She’s laying there, staring at the ceiling while her eyes start to get mist, only there aren’t tears come out. She blinks for a few times, feels in despair and doesn’t know what to do.
Maybe I should just keep sleeping so that when I open my eyes tomorrow the whole this is just a nightmare, she muses, ignoring her damp hair that makes her uncomfortable. She also remembers her dead phone and suddenly a heavy feeling burdens her chest more. Her eyes sting badly, but tears still won’t come out.
She still doesn’t budge when hears the front door is being unlocked and doesn’t even turn her head when too familiar head peeks into her bedroom. Sehun’s black hair comes into view before she can perfectly see his handsome face—there’s concern drawn on it.
“Hey,” He greets. “I’m sorry to come in like this, but your mother is worried about you.”
Ah. Youngji blinks. Of course—it’s hardly likely t
