Prologue

Be Mine In Fourteen Days

The Woogyu’s Fight

If they were asked why they were fighting, neither of them would be able to give an answer. The fight had been dragging on for too long and now both of them had forgotten the real reason for the fight.

It was probably because Woohyun was being too full of himself, Hoya suggested. It was probably because Sunggyu, as the oldest, was being bossy as always, thought Dongwoo.

Dongwoo, as the second oldest, always tried to mantain the peace in the group but it was hard, very hard since it wasn’t his nature to order people around on what to do or what not to do. The most he could do was separate Woohyun from Sunggyu whenever Sunggyu’s anger flared up.

Sunggyu could be very scary when he got angry. That was his only personality he showed to his newly formed group. Hoya, as his best friend, knew it was all the hardship he had endured that had made him become who he was. A very cold Kim Sunggyu.

“I really, really dislike him.” SungGyu complained for the hundredth time that day as he casted a nasty look to WooHyun who was showing off his singing ability to the extremely uninterested SungYeol and L.

“Are you sure you are not hating him because the vocal coach says he sings better than you?” Hoya asked, rolling his eyes.

SungGyu who was sitting at the corner of their small practice room made a look full of disgust. “Ugh… Can he scream like I can?”

Hoya shrugged. “He can sing ballads though.”

“I can too.”

“He is much better at them than you .”

Sunggyu folded his arms. “True.” He conceded. “But look at him. He’s such a show off.”

“He is probably practicing.” said Hoya although he couldn’t help but silently agree. Woohyun had continued singing even though it was time for them to rest. “He is very good looking too.”

Sunggyu didn’t say anything. He just kept glaring at Woohyun.

Hoya waved his hand in front of Sunggyu’s face when Sunggyu didn not respond to him. Sunggyu slapped Hoya’s hand away.

“I thought you were asleep. Can’t tell with those eyes of yours.”

“Shut up.” Sunggyu snapped.

Hoya laughed and turned his focus back to everyone in the room. Woohyun was still singing, Sungjong and L were trying to bear with the main vocal, and Sungyeol was just gawking at Dongwoo.

Dongwoo was dancing alone fiercely. The most energetic member among all of them didn’t bother to get his rest. Hoya was always in admiration of Dongwoo’s passion.

“I think we are lucky to have Dongwoo hyung in our group.” Hoya said as his head started to nod to the beat of the song playing in the room. “He is the mood maker and he is quite funny too.”

“Yeah.” Sunggyu agreed. “Isn’t he tired? I mean, I am.”

“You are always tired hyung.”

“I need to keep my energy for tomorrow morning.”

“What are you going to do?”

“Me? Not just me. It will be all of us. The CEO wanted us to go exercise. We are going to run along the Han river.”

Hoya slapped his forehead, remembering now. “Ahh…I forgot.”

“I hope the CEO forgets about it” Sunggyu said.

Hoya shook his head at his unmotivated friend. “It is so that we can have a great body figure. Plus, we can also take care of our physical health at the same time.” Hoya said and climbed onto his feet to join Dongwoo who was in the middle of the room.

Sunggyu threw his head to the back, sighing. He was too tired to do anything and in fact, too lazy to even think of doing anything. “I’m just going to sleep.”

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Woohyun regretted the day he fought with Sunggyu when the CEO was present. The CEO forced them to room together as a punishment. The CEO even denied them beds.

If Sunggyu didn’t like him, he felt the same way towards Sunggyu too, with the difference being that Sunggyu didn’t bother to hide his displeasure. Nope, not at all. Woohyun hence didn't like Sunggyu the least bit at all. Sunggyu showed it every time their eyes met and eye contact happened way too many times now that they are roommates.

The first thing Sunggyu did when they moved into the room was to divide the room into half each with an invisible line drawn right in the middle of the room. He thought Sunggyu was being extremely childish but it was however the best thing to do regarding their situation.

Sunggyu put his mattress right next to the wall while Woohyun placed his mattress opposite. They did not have any discussion afterwards. It was as if they were in two separate rooms divided by a wall they mentally created.

Woohyun wondered how long will it take for them to at least become friends. For Woohyun, they didn’t have to be good friends, just normal friends would do. They were about to debut together in the same group and it would be bad to not have good relationship among group members, especially with the leader.

That night, Woohyun took the chance to start a conversation with Sunggyu although Sunggyu just continued giving him the cold shoulder.

“Why are you so mad at me?”

Sunggyu who was lying on his side, facing the wall, didn’t answer.

“What have I done for you to not even want to talk to me?”

Sunggyu moved, not to answer the question but to grab his pillow to cover his ears.

Woohyun frowned. “This isn’t good for the group. We are going to debut soon. I am not asking you to be my hyung or my friend, I just want you to act like a leader. A leader needs to at least talk to and communicate well with s.”

This managed to finally get Sunggyu’s attention. Sunggyu changed into a sitting position and faced WooHyun. He was greatly annoyed. “I will be your leader when it comes to work. We’re not working now. So, please let me sleep, dongsaeng.”

Woohyun glared, disliking to be treated like that. “I just want to make things better between us. If you want us to work together like this, I can’t say a now can I?” Woohyun snapped.

“No, you cannot say a .” Sunggyu snapped back before lying back down on his mattress.

“Sweet dreams, leader.” Woohyun said with palpable sarcasm. He wished that Sunggyu would dream about a demon that will rip his stubborn head apart and devour his stupid brain.

The next morning.

Woohyun started to regret ever wishing for someone to dream such a horrible dream because Sunggyu had kept him awake the whole night. It was already bad enough that he was a light sleeper, but with all the noises Sunggyu was making in his sleep, it was hell to Woohyun.

“What’s wrong with you?” Sunggyu asked as he opened his eyes only to be met with the sight of a glum WooHyun who was looking really horrible.

Woohyun who was sitting on his mattress, gave no answer.

Sunggyu tilted his head to one side. “I am asking as a leader. It will be hell today for us, you had better tell me if you are unwell.”

“I couldn’t sleep.”

Sunggyu rolled his eyes and stood up from his mattress. “Bad dreams?”

“No. Not me.”

“What do you mean?”

“It's all your fault.” WooHyun said accusingly. “You kept me awake.”

“Excuse me?” Sunggyu looked down at Woohyun as he contemplated whether or not he should be angry for such an accusation or be worried because Woohyun looked like he was dying. “What did I even do to keep you awake?”

“You were dreaming.” Woohyun answered, looking straight into the leader's eyes.

Sunggyu paled.

“Bad dreams. You didn’t look like you were able to sleep well at all. You don’t remember?” Woohyun asked. It wasn’t actually the first time he heard Sunggyu talking in his sleep. It was just that last night's was distinctively more worse than usual.

Sunggyu looked away and started going through his t-shirts. “You can’t really blame me. I can’t control my dreams.”

“What were you dreaming about? It seemed really horrible.” WooHyun asked with a tinge of concern.

Sunggyu whirled around in panic. “You don’t need to know. I want you to keep quiet about this, okay?”

“You’ve been having bad dreams, is something bothering you?”

“Nothing! Just don’t say a word about this to anyone.” Sunggyu warned. “Just, please, don’t tell anyone.”

Woohyun nodded. Sunggyu pleading was something new to him. Something told him Sunggyu was hiding something from him and from everyone.  “Okay, hyung.”

“I am sorry.” Sunggyu said and quickly left the room.

That was also the first time Woohyun ever heard Sunggyu apologize. His curiosity for whatever was going on with Sunggyu was definitely peaked.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A few hours later.

Sunggyu felt extremely guilty when Woohyun got scolded by their dance choreographer. Woohyun was already horrible at dancing to begin with and with the lack of sleep, he was unable to focus throughout the whole dance practice session. Sunggyu had to admit that it was his fault. Woohyun arrived late at the Han River too as a result when they were out for their daily exercise.

The CEO gave Woohyun a stern warning that he would be out of the group if he was to arrive late again. Sunggyu however knew there was no way the CEO would actually kick WooHyun out of the group, with those looks, singing skills and figure.

Woohyun though, got really upset. Never had Sunggyu seen that side of Woohyun. Woohyun was always so confident and full of himself. When the members were given a break, Woohyun was the first to leave the practice room. Sunggyu decided to act as a real leader for once and went out in search for him. He later found the younger boy sitting at the back of the building burying his head between his knees and sobbing.

Sunggyu frowned.

“Stop being such a crybaby.” Sunggyu told the younger boy as he approached him.

Woohyun just ignored Sunggyu as he continued to cry, hiding his head between his knees.

"Hey."

“Just go away.” Woohyun mumbled.

“Are you crying just because you messed up the dance and got scolded?”

Woohyun cried even harder.

“Stop it. Everyone gets scolded and I'm sure you know that very well too .”

“I can’t dance. I at dancing.” WooHyun said in between sobs. “They are going to kick me out of the group.”

“They will not kick you out, I promise. You just need to be more focused and practice more.” Sunggyu said, feeling that Woohyun was being ridiculous, but it took him by surprise too because he realised that even the almighty Woohyun has he own insecurities.

“Really?” Woohyun raised his head to look at the leader with downcast eyes.

“Well, you sing better than me.” Sunggyu said, as he contemplated whether or not he should look away from Woohyun. He was starting to feel awkward and Woohyun was so distraught he didn’t have the heart to look either.

“You probably only said that just because you are trying to come off as a good leader.”

Sunggyu sneered at the overly emotional WooHyun. “Yes, perhaps I am indeed trying to seem like a good leader. But that doesn’t mean I lied when I said you can sing.”

Woohyun wiped away his tears with the back of his hand. “You think so?”

“Yes, and I'm sure that you won't be kicked out of the group.” Sunggyu added truthfully.

Woohyun finally gave a small smile. “Thank you. I am really scared that I won't be able to make the cut. Sometimes, I just feel like giving up.”

“Give up?”

“It’s so tiring.”

Sunggyu thought that it was because of him keeping WooHyun awake that the latter appeared to be in such an emotional wreck right now. “You should not be scared of failing Woohyun. You should instead be scared of giving up trying. You just need to pick yourself up if you fail. Everyone fails. Just learn from your mistakes and continue trying. You will definitely succeed someday. But if you give up, this is when you really obliterate all hope.”

Woohyun turned his head to the left as Sunggyu had just joined him to sit on the floor. “Hm”

“So are you sure you still want to give up after what you’ve been through? All the audtitions and stuff? After putting in so much hard work and effort?”

“No... I suppose not....”

“Look, you are have almost everything to become an idol. You just need to brush up a little on your dancing that's all. It will be such a waste for someone like you to give up on your dream to become an idol.” Sunggyu muttered before quickly turning his head away from Woohyun. He couldn't believe he actually said that but as much as he hated to admit it, it was true.

Woohyun stared at SungGgyu who was looking everywhere else now except for him. “I remember Hoya had once told me you actually want to become a rock singer.”

“Hmm.”

“Are you sure you don't mind being in an idol group?”

“Hmm.”

“I don’t like it whenever I talk to people they don't look at me.”

“Huh?” That caught Sunggyu off his guard for a moment. He turned to his right and saw Woohyun staring intently back at him. “Oh, sorry.” He cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Are you really sure that you want to be in our group? And become Infinite's leader?” Woohyun asked again.

Sunggyu was touched as he could see that Woohyun was genuinely concerned from the unmistakable look of worry in his eyes. He was really uncomforable however to keep eye contact with Woohyun so he just gave the boy a glance and then turned away again. “I just don't want to miss the opportunity to at least become a singer. I used to think otherwise but well now I feel that it is not like I am fully giving up on my dream either. Someday, I'm sure that I will be able to achieve that dream of mine.”

“Of course that sounds totally like you.” Woohyun smiled. “You are right. I must not give up too!” He said, now full of determination.

“Definitely.” SungGyu said, smiling at his roommate. Sunggyu had never smiled, at least not in front of Woohyun hence Woohyun astonished.

“From now on I'm going to make sure that I practise even harder!”

“Yes, but please don’t do that free style dance anymore. You will hurt my eyes.” Sunggyu teased.

Woohyun pouted indignantly. “Hey, but at least I try my best.”

“Well, fine but you really need to..." Sunggyu sighed "Practise more. Break is over in two minutes. We have to go now.” Sunggyu stood up and held out a hand for Woohyun. “Now get up and let’s do our best for the group.”

Woohyun smiled widely now. “Are we friends now?”

“Err…Well...Yes, I guess.”

Woohyun’s smile got even wider and he immediately took Sunggyu’s hand. Sunggyu pulled Woohyun up and they headed back to the dance practice room. Woohyun was grinning from ear to ear and walking with a light bounce throughout the whole way, while a small smile was also playing on Sunggyu's lips. The latter's eyes were too almost disappearing.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Few days later.

The frown on Sunggyu's forehead could probably be seen even in the darkness. It was the third time that night he was being jolted awake from his endless series of bad dreams. Woohyun had fallen asleep as soon as they arrived home after yet another long day. Sunggyu was envious of how Woohyun was able to fall asleep so quickly but he was too aware of the fact that Woohyun was a light sleeper. Hence, he was afraid of waking up the other main vocal with his nightmares again.

Sunggyu leaned on the wall as he tried to recall what his dream was all about but to no avail. He would just forget about it immediately after waking up.

Sunggyu was startled when he suddenly sensed movements in the dark. Suddenly the lights to the room were flipped on. Sunggyu squeezed his eyes shut in pain at the sudden change in brightness. “What the… Nam Woohyun!”

Woohyun came and knelt down beside Sunggyu’s mattress, the invisible line Sunggyu drew no longer existed ever since the day they became friends. “You can’t sleep again?” He asked, concerned.

“No.” Sunggyu admitted. There was no use of lying because he knew Woohyun could probably tell even if he did. “Did I wake you up?”

Woohyun shook his head. “I didn’t sleep.”

“Why?”

Woohyun contemplated whether or not to tell the truth that actually he didn't sleep because he was worried. Okay, he did for an hour or two and Sunggyu surely knew too but he jolted awake when he subconsciously remembered that Sunggyu was frequently having bad dreams these days. In the end he chose not to as he didn't want to make Sunggyu feel bad. “I was thinking too much.” He lied. “Nightmares?”

Sunggyu nodded. “Again. I think I should sleep outside. I keep waking you up every night.”

“No.” Woohyun objected. “What if the other members know about this? You said to not let them know.”

“Ah..that too.”

“Do you remember what you are dreaming about?” WooHyun asked rubbing his sleepy face.

Sunggyu shook his head. “No. No matter how many times you ask, I will never remember. It’s the same every time, all I can remember is that it was bad... Very bad. And that I have a feeling that it is actually just the same dream recurring again and again that hauntes me every night. Afterwards, when I wake up and I just don’t remember anything from it.”

Sunggyu had beent repeating the same thing every time Woohyun enquired about the dreams. “I see… Why don’t you try go back to sleep again.”

“I can’t.”

“You can. Just try.” Woohyun said giving Sunggyu a light push to get him to lie on his back. “Close your eyes and just sleep.”

Like a good little kid, Sunggyu followed the order given by Woohyun. He closed his eyes and tried to fall back asleep. His eyes flew open when he felt Woohyun combing through his hair. He was about to open his mouth in complain when Woohyun quickly said,

“When I was younger, whenever I cannot sleep, my mother will do this.” as he ran his delicate fingers through Sunggyu’s ash brown hair. “Puts me to sleep very easily, this way.” Woohyun yawned.

Sunggyu couldn’t help but frown at the very sleepy WooHyun who kept playing with his hair. He wanted to order WooHyun to go back to sleep but Woohyun’s touch seemed to be working as he started to feel drowsy. Having Woohyun as a friend perhaps wasn't too bad an idea afterall. He was actually really nice. Glancing up at Woohyun, he also realised that Woohyun was even more handsome upclose. He had the perfect eyes and nose. Those hazel eyes and that leptorrhine nose... and his jaw line is so ….. Sunggyu, for the first time in what seemed like ages, fell asleep without having any nighmares.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Another few days later.

Just when the Infinite members and their CEO thought things were finally becoming better with Sunggyu and Woohyun, both of them fought again.  This time it was much worse than before.

It started with Sunggyu complaining how Woohyun wouldn't stop messing up their dance. After the third time he warned Woohyun not to make the same mistake, Woohyun flared up. Woohyun made the grave mistake of screaming back at Sunggyu that it was because of him that he suffered from a lack of sleep and that’s the main reason why he couldn’t focus. Woohyun regretted it almost immediately when he felt that all eyes were on him. He could almost feel a particular pair of small eyes burning a hole deep inside him.

Sunggyu couldn’t look more betrayed. “You promised not to tell anyone.” Sunggyu said between gritted teeth, with his small eyes becoming even smaller than usual, while looking at the same time somewhat ashamed now that his secret was out.

“Oh my god I didn't mean to....I....I am so... so...” Woohyun began but Sunggyu had already stomped out of the practice room and slammed the door shut. I have really screwed big time...  thought Woohyun bitterly. He could totally imagine every kind of hell Sunggyu was going to give him and how Sunggyu would treat him the same way as he did before, in fact, even more badly.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Three days after that.

Woohyun felt like he deserved to be treated badly by his roommate. Sunggyu trusted him but he was stupid to let his anger get the better of him and let out the secret that Sunggyu was bent on keeping. But Sunggyu, most astonishingly, didn’t do anything like what Woohyun had previously imagined. Sunggyu treated him normally in the practice room, like a real leader, although once they were back in their dorm, Sunggyu would not even acknowledge his existence. The invisible line that had disappeared for a good few days was now back, and they no longer talked before going to bed. Woohyun missed that because to his own surprise, Sunggyu was a good listener. Even when Sunggyu was extremely tired, he would still make sure to listen to what Woohyun had to say.

Just like how Sunggyu had found him when he was upset and needed his time alone, Woohyun was managed to find Sunggyu too. Sunggyu was leaning on the wall at the same place as he had been when he was crying, humming to his favorite song from Nell. Woohyun had listened to Sunggyu sing that song way so many times. Woohyun was already sick of it but he didn’t say anything because as much as he found it annoying, he enjoyed hearing Sunggyu sing. He could be tired of that song but he would never get tired listening to Kim Sunggyu’s amazing voice.

“Say it. I'll only give you ten seconds.” SungGyu spat, not looking at WooHyun.

Woohyun who was slowly approaching Sunggyu stopped dead in his track. “I- I am sorry. I was stupid. I didn’t mean to let them…”

“Time’s up. I am going.” Sunggyu lifted himself off the wall and walked past Woohyun only to be greeted by Hoya who was also in search of Sunggyu.

“You guys are good?” Hoya asked, couldn’t help but sounding hopeful.

“If not for the fact that he is going to be one of my group members, I will never talk to him again. I hate bastards like him who go back on their promise and betray other people the most. ” Sunggyu said loudly on purpose and with a look of distaste and disgust as he walked away.

Hoya didn’t like being left alone with Woohyun, so after shooting Woohyun a pitiful glance, he followed the leader back into the building.

Woohyun stood completely still, hurt and furious. Well if Sunggyu was just going to treat him like that, his colleague and nothing else, then maybe he should reconsider reaching out to and amending his relationship with Sunggyu.

"From today onwards, Sunggyu shall to be nothing else but my group leader." Woohyun swore.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The next two days.

Woohyun didn't like to admit it but there was definitely no one else who could be a better leader other than Sunggyu. Sunggyu did not let their fight affect the group. Things ran smoothly, especially when their CEO and newly appointed manager were around. Nobody except for Hoya knew that the two main vocalists were still fighting.

Everyone was out to get their meal, except for SungGyu who was working on his vocal. Woohyun stayed in the practice room because he was on his diet. He could see how frustrated Sunggyu was with himself. Woohyun broke out laughing when he heard Sunggyu's voice crack and the latter's loud curse at himself for being unable to reach the high note.

Sunggyu casted him a dirty look and that shut made Woohyun shut his mouth immediately.

It didn’t take long for Woohyun though to start worrying about the leader. Sunggyu now appeared to be overly stressed out and terribly annoyed. He knew he swore not to care about Sunggyu anymore but before he knew it, his feet were already making their way to Sunggyu.

“I don’t like seeing you like this.” WooHhyun said in all seriousness. “You should stop now. This is not good for your vocal chords. You are going to overwork them. It is even worse for your mental health.

“What did you just say?”

 “You...you...” Woohyun gulped in fear.

“I what?”

Woohyun took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “You know about your nightmares?”

Sunggyu’s facial expression changed very quickly. “I don’t think I want to talk about this.”

Before SungGyu could leave, Woohyun spoke out. “I have realised that whenever you push yourself too hard or become overly stressed out, it is when your nightmares get the worst. They seem to depend on your emotion. We may no longer be friends anymore, but we are still roommates. I really don’t want to give a about you anymore but somehow I still do.”

Sunggyu gave WooHyun a questioning look which made him quickly stutter. “Be...Because you are my leader. I...I mean, I... I don’t want my leader to be unwell. We are de...debuting soon so...so I don’t like my leader to be …ahh..umm…anyways I just hope... hope that... that... ah! youwon’tbothermeatnightanymoresothatIcansleepinpeaceyeahthat'sit .”

Woohyun’s face turned a darker shade of red. He could feel his cheeks were burning as Sunggyu stared at him dumbfoundedly. Woohyun was however glad that Sunggyu didn’t appear angry. “Well, I..I...just th...thought I should tell you that...I...I...I...uh...I gotta go! The rest of the members might be looking for me!” Okay who could he kid, all the other members probably know that he has to diet but he needed an excuse to get out of the practice room. As soon as possible. He was totally dying from embarrassment. It was even worse because he suddenly realised he had used informal speech with Sunggyu in his nervousness. Oh ... Woohyun turned around ready to flee from that room when Sunggyu abruptly grabbed his hand to stop him.

“Thanks for telling me.”

“No..no problem.” Woohyun forcefully pulled his hand away from Sunggyu, grabbed his sweater on the floor, and escaped from the room as fast as his legs could carry him.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Four horrible days later.

2.15 in the morning.

Sunggyu was jolted awake by his dream, again. He found it hard to breathe and he took quick, shallow breaths when he finally remembered what his dream was all about. Tears started welling up in his eyes. “!” Sunggyu sat up on his mattress and wiped the tears away quickly hatefully. He should not be crying because of just some stupid nightmare.

Nonetheless, it was impossible for him to calm himself down now that he remembered everything clearly. Sunggyu leaned on the wall behind and pulled up his knees, hugging them tightly. He was trembling and sweating profusely. Beads of cold perspiration had formed on his forehead and the back of his black T-shirt was rapidly turning wetter by the second.

“OH MY GOD KIM SUNGGYU ARE YOU OKAY?”

“Go away, Woohyun.” Sunggyu weakly said as he rested his forehead on his knees. He didn’t want to raise his head for he knew Woohyun was right in front of him, watching.

Of course Woohyun would not heed his order. Woohyun remained kneeling in front of Sunggyu as he studied him intently. He had been studying Sunggyu ever since he had started screaming hysterically in his sleep. As much as he try not to, he could never stay away from Sunggyu. Woohyun placed his hand on Sunggyu’s shoulder gingerly. “Were you afraid?”

Sunggyu who was still trembling, hugged his knees even tighter. He didn’t care how he looked so weak and vulnerable right now. Woohyun knew so he didn’t have anything to hide. He did not have to hide the fact that he had his own fears too. Their relationship didn’t get any better but it did not get any worse either.

A soft touch on his cheek made Sunggyu lift his head and his eyes met WooHyun’s soft brown ones.

“I was so scared.”

“I know. You were screaming for help.”

“I was alone back then and those people... the were just closing in on me. I didn’t have friends here. I was alone. I had absolutely no one” Sunggyu seemed like he was on the verge of having a panic attack.

“You have us now. You have me. I will be by your side.” Woohyun said, caressing Sunggyu’s rosy cheeks, now with both hands. “You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”

That night Woohyun learnt something. It was not a nightmare that Sunggyu been having all this while but it was a bad memory that kept replaying in his head every time he closed his eyes.

“What actually happened back then?”

Sunggyu looked at WooHyun with his woebegone eyes and told him. “They were beating me up. My stomach was already hurting very much so I couldn’t fight back.”

Woohyun nodded, he remembered Sunggyu had suffered from appendicitis. He took Sunggyu’s cold hand in his porcelain-white one, to let Sunggyu know that he was listening.

“I was so badly beaten I couldn’t even move. They left me in the alley alone. I was alone, Woohyun. I thought I was going to die and my mother was still angry at me. Dad wouldn’t talk to me. I thought I was never going to see them again. "I...I thought, I was going to die all alone and not even God will know.”

“Oh Sunggyu...” Woohyun pulled SungGgyu into a secure hug. He understood how Sunggyu was feeling. Both of his parents were against his dream to become a singer, just like Sunggyu's except that he was lucky his parents eventually accepted it and during the whole time, never throw him out of their lives unlike how Sunggyu’s parents did. “It’s okay now. You don’t have to be scared anymore. You should go back to sleep now.”

“I was really, really scared.”

“I know.”

“You know?”

“Yes. I’ve been watching you sleep every day. I don’t know the details but I do know you are extremely terrified.”

Sunggyu let Woohyun embrace him in a hug. He did not pull away from the hug because Woohyun's hug made him feel calmer and more secure. He badly needed that warmth and comfort that the hug gave him. He had to admit that he had missed Woohyun’s touch. That one time Woohyun managed to put him to sleep, he would never forget about it.

“But I can’t sleep.” Sunggyu complained burying his face deep into Woohyun’s chest.

“Of course you can.”

Sunggyu was about to protest in disagreement when Woohyun pulled away from the hug but in the end, he chose not to say anything. His eyes followed Woohyun who went to his mattress and pulled it right to the middle of the room.

“We will sleep together. Every time you have that horrible nightmare you’d be screaming for help. You look so afraid. It is probably because you thought you were alone.” WooHyun explained.

Woohyun walked back towards Sunggyu and held his hand out for Sunggyu to grab. SungGyu took his hand but refused to get up. He was still feeling weak and unsteady and he did not want to fall in front of Woohyun. “I am not getting up.”

“You are really lazy sometimes.” Woohyun grumbled, still holding Sunggyu’s hand.

“Trust me I will fall face first if I stand up now.”

Woohyun looked at the very shaky leader and had to agree. “I’ll just sleep here then.”

“Really?” Sunggyu was sounding so hopeful that it brought a smile to Woohyun’s face for the first time in many days.

“Really.” Woohyun told the leader. “You must’ve missed me, no?”

Sunggyu pulled his hand away from WooHhyun, ashamed. “Maybe. The last time I had a good sleep at night was when you played with my hair. We were friends then but you had to go around telling the others about me having horrible nightmares.”

Woohyun frowned knowing now how much Sunggyu hated to appear weak. “No, no. That was a mistake. I am really sorry. I promise it will never happen again. Really.” Woohyun apologetically responded and plopped down beside Sunggyu, joining him on the mattress.

Sunggyu looked away from WooHyun. “Yeah right.”

“I was upset and I was tired. I stayed up all night because I was afraid you might have the same dream again. I thought I should just wake you up if you had nightmares again.” WooHhyun took Sunggyu’s hand in his and continued. “I was wrong. Just tell me how I can make it up to you. I really want to be your friend again.”, an obvious pout forming on his lips as he did so.

Sunggyu turned to face Woohyun. “Well, Sungjong told me you can cook.”

“You want me to cook for you?”

“Well, you make me breakfast tomorrow.”

“That's a piece of cake! But you will have to let me sleep in peace or else you will have to mentally prepare yourself for some burnt toast"

This made Sunggyu feel terribly guilty. Sunggyu gave Woohyun's hand a tight squeeze. “I am so sorry. I really am. I didn’t mean to bother your sleep.”

“It's okay. Come on we still have practice early in the morning. You will sleep now.” Woohyun lightly shoved Sunggyu to lie down on his mattress. “I will sleep with you.”

Woohyun lay on his side, facing Sunggyu. He rested a hand on Sunggyu’s left shoulder. “Try to sleep now.”

It was weird because Sunggyu hadn't felt awkward at all having Woohyun who he had once considered to be his mortal enemy sleeping beside him. Neither did he feel uncomfortable when Woohyun had hugged him.

“But this mattress is too small for both of us to sleep in.”

“We’ll just combine both of ours tomorrow.”

“I don't think I will be able to sleep.”

“Just try.”

Sunggyu smiled and let his eyelids flutter shut. Deep down, he knew his bad memory won’t haunt him again. As long as he had Woohyun beside him. That was because being with Woohyun puts him at great ease, and he now knew that he with Woohyun, he will never be alone again. Never.

“Are we friends?” Woohyun asked, yawning. He adjusted his head until it was comfortably resting on Sunggyu’s shoulder.

“Hm..I trust you more than anyone now.”

Woohyun giggled. “So, can I tell you something?”

“Hm..”

“I really like your voice but please stop singing the same song. I've gotten really tired of it.”

“Hm..”

“Not to sound weird or anything but I like this shirt you’re wearing.”

“Hm..”

“You are not mad at me anymore, are you?”

Woohyun waited for a reply but the reply never came. Woohyun lifted his head and saw that Sunggyu was already asleep. He gently wiped away the beads of perspiration on Sunggyu’s forehead and while he did so, he couldn’t help but admire Sunggyu’s face. He gently brushed away the few strands of straying hair. He is really handsome... Seeing him up close, he actually reminds me of a hamster and a very cute one at that...

He was looking a lot more peaceful now. A sight Woohyun rarely got to see. Woohyun chuckled because as just a minute ago Sunggyu was still complaning that he would not be able to go to sleep but now the only thing he could hear coming from Sunggyu was his soft snores.

Sunggyu hyung, you are actually a really nice person. It is all the hardships that you have endured that made you become such a prickly hedgehog.

WooHyun snuggled closer to Sunggyu, enjoying the warmth from the older boy. He smiled to the darkness. But someday I will open up your hardened heart again. I'm sure that we will be good friends from now on, for real, both me and you. Definitely. I will never let you feel alone ever again. Never. And that's a promise.

Now that Sunggyu was finally able to sleep, and both of them were back to being good friends again, it was as if a heavy stone had been lifted off Woohyun's heart. Woohyun sighed contently, and allowed sleep to take over.
