Chapter 3 Persistent

“Y-Yong oppa?!” As if she saw something impossible and incredible happened in front of her eyes, she couldn’t even blink. She was really surprised to see Yonghwa sat right next to her. Even though he wore a sunglasses, she knew it was him.

Finally, she noticed his presence, he especially likes it when he made her surprised. While having a satisfied smile, he nudged Seohyun's arm.  “Ijashik, everyone can hear you. Please be careful.”

Becoming aware of her surrounding, she cleared and asked in softer voice while furrowing her eyebrows. “Yong oppa, why are you here?”

“Me? I’m going on a holiday, to Hawaii.” 

She looked around, searching for the rest of CNBLUE members, but, he was the only one here. “Are you alone?”

He nodded.

For a moment, she stared at him in disbelief. Noticing her expression, Yonghwa removed his glasses and stared back at her eyes with folded arms on his chest. “Why? Do you think I’m following you here? Is it even possible?”

It's impossible. Thinking like that, she shook her head. “No, it’s not.” But, It seemed too much to be a coincidence, she thought. “Still, why...”

“How about you? Isn’t SNSD going to Jeju today?”

She nodded. ”But I have my own holiday.”

“So, you’re alone?” he asked the question that he already knew the answer.

“Ne.”

“If so, why don’t we go and have a holiday together?” 

Seohyun blinked twice, assessing his words. Suddenly her eyes grew bigger and she shooked her head quickly, “No! We can’t!”

Actually, he was taken aback by her refusal, but he managed to stay calm and asked her, frowning, “Why? Do you really hate being with me?”

She thinned her lip. “I don’t hate being with you, I just don’t want to get any scandal.”

Somehow after hearing her reason, his heart was relieved, and her first sentence was echoed in his mind. Just knowing she didn’t hate being with him made Yonghwa quite happy. At least he still had a chance.

“You can’t lie to me. Where’s her?” The manager was glaring at the girls right now, he felt like being played by them and it’s ridiculous, even though it was not their intention. They just wanted to protect Seohyun, their lovely maknae. Although he was waiting for their answer, none of SNSD girls opened their mouth. One mistake could lead into a worse situation and they didn’t want that.

At that time, a stewardess was approaching them. They were making a commotion, it might disturb the other passengers. “Excuse me, may I ask what happened?”

Tiffany faced her, assuring the stewardess that nothing happened. “Nothing. You don’t have to worry.”

“I understand. But, I would like to suggest you go back to your seat, sir.” The stewardess asked the manager who was standing at the way.

He was willing to do that but this problem was unsolved, he must know where’s Seohyun. She’s one of SNSD members and SNSD is his responsibility. Thinking it was her time to calmed the tension down, Taeyeon tried to persuade the manager. “Maybe it's better to talk about this matter at the airport later. There's nothing we could do about it anyway, we can’t use our phone and we can’t ask the pilot to turn the plane back to LA and search for her right now.”

With a deep exhale, he nodded. It might be best for now. “Alright, Let me hear your explanation later.”

After wearing her sunglasses and hat, Seohyun pulled her suitcase and walked fast. Not far behind, Yonghwa was following her, trying to catch up. When he was close by her side, she accelerated her pace and left him behind, but he was able to catch her up again. A sigh slipped from her lip. Suddenly she stopped walking and turned to him, causing his steps halted.

“Oppa, don’t follow me.”

“I’m not. I also go this way.”

Even though she didn't believe him, she accepted his reason. While rolling her eyes, she then turned her body back and continue walking, followed by Yonghwa behind with his chuckle.

When they reached the outside of the airport, she stopped and took her phone. She was about to check her phone when she found Yonghwa standing not too far from her. Their eyes met and Seohyun shook her head, so he couldn’t help but took several steps away from her. After she was sure that their distance was safe enough, she started checking her phone again, looking for some information needed for an international tourist like her, while Yonghwa was standing, leaning on a column, as occasionally glanced at her.

At the time he stealing a glance at her, Yonghwa noticed there’s a suspicious guy behind her. That guy was about to take her suitcase and Seohyun didn’t realize it because she was busy with her phone. “Hey, what are you doing?!” Yonghwa shouted, causing that suspicious guy surprised, but he managed to grab her suitcase and run. Immediately, he chased after the guy. 

Noticing about what happened, Seohyun was panic and following Yonghwa behind. Fortunately, Yonghwa was quick enough, so he managed to catch the snatcher. No need a long time for the security to approached him, helping Yonghwa to capture that guy.

“oppa, are you okay?” asked Seohyun as soon as she reaching him. 

“I’m okay.”

It happened because her carelessness and she felt sorry but grateful to Yonghwa for retrieving her suitcase at the same time. It would be difficult if she lost her suitcase because all of her important stuff was there.

“Thanks.” She said in a soft voice.

She didn't have to feel guilty, he would do it to everyone who needs his help. Trying to show his mind through his expression, he smiled a warm one. "No problem." and when she watched his smile, she couldn't help but felt relieved inside. And she found herself smiled at him. When she was about to take her suitcase from Yonghwa’s hand, he pulled the suitcase, preventing her from taking her suitcase. Seohyun lifted her head, confused, just to met hers with Yonghwa’s serious eyes.

“I won’t let you go alone anymore.”

She straightens herself and frowned, meanwhile he his lower lip and continued his words. “I'll stick to you no matter what.”

“Oppa, what if people...”

“We’re not in Korea, there’s no one who will recognize us.”

“No, being careful won’t bring any harm.”

He sighed, how to make her change her mind, he wondered. “If you go alone in this foreign country and something happened, It will be more dangerous than such a mere scandal, Hyun.”

She thinned her lip. He was right, something just happened and she didn’t want anything bad happened again in the future. Maybe it was safer to be together with Yonghwa, but... scandal is also her concern. She really detests scandal, especially the one about her personal life.

“If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you.” Yonghwa then grabbed Seohyun's hand and brought her to some people who was waiting for their pick up.

“Excuse me.” Yonghwa greeted the two men as he took off his sunglasses. “Do you know us?”

They frowned and shook their heads. It was weird when a stranger suddenly asks that kind of question to you.

“Look carefully, have you ever seen us before?”

One of them started talking. “Sorry, I don’t know you. Are you lost?”

With 'I know it' expression, he looked at Seohyun before he replied to the man. “No. Don't worry. Thanks.”

They asked several people and no one recognized them. After feeling it was enough to proof his words, he then glanced at Seohyun. “See, we don’t need to be careful here. No one here knows about us.”

She bit her lower lip, hesitating at first, but finally, she opened her lip. “Well, you probably right.”

“So?”

“Let’s enjoy the holiday together, oppa.” A curve appeared at her lip. Seeing her beautiful smile, Yonghwa couldn’t help but smile.

At that time, he noticed that he still held her hand and quickly let her hand go. And Seohyun, thinking that they were holding hand all this time made her blushing, it had been a long time since she held his warm hand, moreover this time, without any camera around them. It felt awkward, she didn’t know what to do. 

“Let’s find a place to stay first.” He said, touching his nape shyly.

"Yes, you're right," Seohyun replied shyly like him.

Deciding to move from the airport, he dragged her suitcase, taking it with him. While following him, she noticed something.

“Where’s your luggage? Don’t tell me, you just bring a small bag with you?”

Of course, he just brings a small bag because only this bag that sticks with him meanwhile his other’s belonging probably was sent to Korea. He cleared his throat, finding for a reason. “Well, I don’t need much stuff.”

From his saying, she realized the situation, the reason he was here maybe... Seohyun then laughed quietly. Somehow she felt relieved that Yonghwa was here, together with her.
