Chapter one

Ghost

AN:// Hey you all, we know this one is loooooooooong overdue. Like 10 months overdue. But we've been writing and writing and just noticed how long it has become. Instead of posting one long chapter (with pages) we will be posting a few smaller chapters. We hope it was worth the wait :)

Life was boring. Though in his case it was more like the afterlife was boring. Haunting an empty apartment was boring. There was nothing to entertain Jungkook besides the people walking past the apartment complex. Besides the old lady who walked her two cats with a pigeon on her shoulder, nothing interesting happened there either. And that got boring after a while too.

A noise brought him out of his thoughts and voices floated into the room he was currently occupying. Hope flared and he made himself invisible and floated through the wall to the entrance. A tall man was leading a whole party of people inside. Maybe it was buyers?

“So this will be where you’ll be living. It is of decent size and though you’ll all be sleeping in one room, you’ll have a living room,” the tall man told the six people following him. “I’ll let you settle in for a few days and then your schedule starts up as normal. Your things will arrive later today.” The six people nodded in confirmation. The tall man nodded back and left.

As soon as the man had left, a great rectangular smile bloomed on one of the boys faces.

“This is great!” the boy exclaimed and ran off. Silently, he followed the boy through the apartment. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he took his phone out and started some music. With no further ado, the boy started dancing through the bedroom and on to the living room.

“What are you doing?” one of the other boys asked with a raised eyebrow. This boy was rather small but looked muscular.

“Join me in dancing in the apartment!” the dancing boy invited the other, who smiled widely.

“I don’t think I ca-” the small boy replied but stopped as his body popped. “Oh no what is happening? I seem to have started dancing!” he said as he started to dance to the music.

Jungkook smiled as he looked at the two dancing. Afterlife might just become much more interesting now. He followed the boys around and found out that the boy with the rectangular smile’s name was Taehyung and the small muscular boy’s name was Jimin. The boy who joined them when they entered the living room was Hoseok and he could laugh loud enough to bring a glare from this other small boy, who looked like he wanted sleep. That small boy’s name was Yoongi and apparently he was one of the eldest. The tall boy who tried to dance with them, but accidentally slammed his hand into the doorway in the process was Namjoon. And lastly, the boy with the wide shoulders who laughed at Namjoon’s pain the loudest was Seokjin.

After that, Seokjin had checked on Namjoon’s hand, the furniture arrived along with a television (a television), and the boys had gone looking for food to eat, leaving Jungkook behind. When they came back, they headed straight to bed and no more dancing to look at that day. The next day, the boys simply coexisted. Jungkook took turns with watching the six boys, but nothing out of ordinary happened (besides Namjoon breaking the handle of a door - Jungkook had laughed). It looked like he had ended up with boring people to live with.

As night darkened the skies on the third day of observing his new roommates, he sighed to himself. The boys had all gone to bed because of an early morning the next day. He wanted to have some fun instead of this boring afterlife.

An idea struck him. If they weren’t going to entertain him, then he might as well make sure they did. Looking at the turned off tv in front of him, a plan started to form. He would start with the television.

Namjoon woke up with a jolt. The television in the living room was running at full blast and had pulled him out of his sleep. Confused out of his wits, he threw the blanket off to the side and pushed himself onto the floor. Fumbling through the dark blindness he made his way to the door and the sound only got louder. He could hear the other members rustling awake around him but he didn’t pay them much mind. He hadn’t heard the television during the night so it had to be on a really loud program or show to wake him up like that. He was usually a heavy sleeper too. He made a beeline for the outlet on the opposite wall in the living room and flicked the button to off. The television went out with a low buzzing sound before leaving the living in silence again. He didn’t like being woken during the night. He generally didn’t like being woken. It always made him

grumpy. He made his way back to the bedroom and saw Seokjin had turned the light on by his bed. Namjoon didn’t care for the others right now. Whoever had left the TV on was going to be outed to the group as the culprit. He turned the ceiling light on and leaned against the doorframe.

“Everybody up!” He shouted and everyone pretty much shot into a sitting position. “Okay, which one of you left the TV on?” He asked looking from one person to the other. They all looked equally clueless.

“I went to bed right after Jimin…” Yoongi started. “And Namjoon, Seokjin and Hoseok had already gone to bed by then. So that leaves Taehyung.” He continued and everyone’s eyes turned to the confused member. His hands shot up in a surrendering posture and he shook his head.

“I swear I turned it off when I went to bed. I even double checked it after my shower.” He said, desperation obvious in his voice.

“Obviously you didn’t turn it off since it was obviously on a minute ago.” Namjoon pointed out and pinched the bridge of his nose in despair. “Never mind. I’m going back to sleep. Forget it again and you get to sleep in the hallway.” He threatened as he turned off the ceiling light and climbed into the bed between Seokjin’s and Hoseok’s. He made a mental note to keep an eye on Taehyung or he feared his life would be harder than absolutely necessary.

Yoongi was tired. He had spent all night in the studio. Now he needed some well earned sleep. First he needed something to eat though. Going down to the kitchen, he looked through the fridge for something he could eat. There wasn’t much ready to eat food other than the measly leftovers from yesterday. It would have to do. Hopefully no one would mind. If anyone did mind, too bad.

He leaned against the counter as he ate the food in the container cold. He couldn’t be bothered heating it. Too much work. This tasted fine. Seokjin was a good cook. They were lucky to have someone gifted in the culinary arts to be in their group.

Finishing, he put the bowl and utensils in the sink and made his way to the bathroom.

“Hey sugar,” someone called at him as he passed the mirror in the hallway. He spun around on the spot, ready to kill whoever had said that.

What did you just call me?” he growled at Jimin, who was half a step into the kitchen. Jimin froze on the spot.

“What?” he asked as if he was completely innocent. That little devil.

“Did you just call me sugar?” Yoongi asked, with fire in his eyes.

“What? No,” Jimin replied confused.

“You little…” he stepped forward threateningly. No one, absolutely no one called him sugar!

“I didn’t say anything, I swear!” the younger raised his hands, every pore of him oozing with fake innocence.

“I heard what you said! Don’t deny it, no one else is here,” Yoongi pointed at the other, firing lightning at him with his eyes. “If you do it again…” he threatened, silently promising the younger he would regret ever doing it again. With that he spun around and went to the bathroom.

Jungkook cackled with glee in the hallway mirror, promising himself, he had to do that again.

Jungkook was quite pleased with himself. The reactions he had gotten from the group of boys living in his apartment since he started making fun with them had been brilliant. Obviously they didn’t believe in supernatural creatures so he was free of blame for now. But watching them accuse each other for doing the things he had done was more than hilarious in itself. But this time they had to blame someone new. He wanted his entertainment to reach all around the group of people. And he knew the Seokjin guy was in charge of all cooking in the apartment. So switching the salt with sugar would definitely get him into trouble. So while the group was out for schedule or whatever they had called it he had of course switched them around. He sat down on the kitchen table, feet probed where Seokjin would usually be cutting vegetables to keep the meat juices from the vegetables as he liked to say. He stayed there until they came home. Well he stayed there after they had returned home but he just made himself invisible too. He watched how Seokjin dragged shopping bags into the kitchen followed by Namjoon and Jimin in a similar state. He watched as Seokjin reached into one of his own bags and pulled out a handful of vegetables and placed them on the table where his knees were placed. Jimin made a quick escape from the kitchen and Namjoon stayed behind and started filling the cabinets and the fridge with everything they had bought. Occasionally he would ask Seokjin where he wanted something to be placed and then place them there.

Okay, maybe Namjoon was entertaining in himself. He got his fingers stuck in the cabinets a couple of times and almost fell on his face after tripping over a chair. He watched as Seokjin cooked for the six of them, completely unaware of the switch of ingredients. It took a good hour before Seokjin had finished cooking for the members of the apartment. He had managed to set the table between stirring the pot and flipping the meat so when he called for the others, everything was ready. The five members left rushed to the table, one more excited than the other. They all dug into the meal like it was the last meal they would ever get to have and Jungkook couldn’t help but shift on the table, rubbing his hands together expectantly.

“No! Wait for the rest of us to get something to eat too.” Namjoon scolded Jimin who already had his utensils by his lips. He let out an exaggerated sigh before lowering his food.

“Everyone got their food now.” Seokjin announced about a minute later and Jungkook’s face almost split in two with expectations to the reactions.

Almost simultaneously the group of men spat their food back onto the plate. Only J-hope decided to chew on it a little longer before swallowing it with a grimace that shouldn’t have been humanly possible to make. Jungkook rolled onto the table clutching his stomach tightly as he laughed to himself. Their expressions were beyond priceless!

“Kim Seokjin. What on earth did you put into this? It’s salty as !” Taehyung exclaimed loudly, using his napkin to wipe his tongue repeatedly before washing it down with water. Jungkook had rolled off the kitchen counter in the process of laughing. It was genius.

“I...I don’t know. I swear I didn’t put salt in it.” Seokjin said, eyes shifting from one boy to the other looking like he could cry any second. He stood up and headed to the cabinet and pulled out the container that always contained sugar. “See, the salt is behind this. I haven’t used it.” He defended himself and took a closer look at the container. “Wait a minute.” He said thoughtfully and poured some of the white crystals into his palm and them off.

“. Who put salt in the sugar container?” He asked and looked at all of the other members. Jungkook was slapping his thighs and for once praising his afterlife. Luckily he didn’t have to breathe anymore.

Seokjin’s eyes landed on Taehyung and narrowed into thin slits.

“Taehyung. Did you switch the content around?” He demanded to know and Taehyung blinked confused a couple of times.

“Me?” He asked and pointed to himself. “I wouldn’t. I didn’t even know which contained what. And when could I possibly have had time to do it? We’ve been out all day.” He defended himself. Seokjin didn’t seem to buy the explanation and pointed at him with a long finger.

“You ruined my food. Kim Taehyung. You’re dead.” He said as he placed the salt on the counter a little harder than necessary and set off after the boy. Taehyung was quick to react and shot off his chair like a bullet to avoid the oldest’s wrath. Jungkook couldn’t help but float after the bantering pair laughing his off. If Taehyung died, he could join him in the afterlife and they could do pranks together. Jungkook liked that idea.
