3. Kimi wa shiranai (You don't know)
KimishikaTHE CHAPTER IS HERE AND IT'S ING LONG (6269 WORDS) I STILL HOPE YOU'LL LIKE IT ♥
“Woonie, I'm really supportive and all, but I also really want to slap you right now.”
“You can't, hyung, you're behind a computer screen, plus in Korea. It would be too expensive to come here by flight just to hurt me.”
“Still. I really, really want to slap you,” the other replied, folding his arms.
Dongwoon smiled a bit with sorry eyes.
“I can't help it, hyung. You know I'm shy and it's like I can't do anything, just watching him from afar.”
“But it has been a month!”
Dongwoon pouted. Yeah. A month he stalked the beautiful man with the eyesmile. And he knew lots of thing about him even if they didn't talk after the third time they met eyes.
Because, even if Dongwoon had been full of goodwill to talk to him at that moment, he had suddenly felt too shy when he had seen his crush joining someone and hugging him at the café near-by – killing him a little bit more with this beautiful eyesmile he couldn't be bored to admire, and also killing him because, well, his luck wasn't on his side until the end.
I'm looking at you
With passing gazes
I'm praying to the stars
In the night sky
I'm here
It didn't go as expected, and that's why Dujun – the guy behind the computer screen – was desperate after all this time.
“Yoseob hyung already scolds me about it, why you too, Dujun hyung?” Dongwoon whined.
“He's right to do so, and me too. You're hopeless and if only I knew Yoseob better, I would tell him to do something about you. Fortunately, you have a friend in Japan.”
Dujun was Dongwoon's bestfriend in Korea. He was two years older and they were childhood friends. He was part of a soccer team and this sport was his life – that's why he was still single.
“You and Yoseob hyung are the same! You scold me because I do nothing, but both of you are single! Can't you focus on your own love life?”
“Our dongsaeng's happiness is way more important at the moment! You live one of the best year of your life, you improved your japanese to a ing perfect level, and you have a crush on someone. Why do you screw up your luck and choose to be and stay a stalker?!”
“He doesn't know me! I would freak him out!”
“What an excuse! You're head over heels for him, can't you do something now?!”
“But how? How, hyung?!” Dongwoon screamed, becoming hysterical.
He didn't like this conversation.
“Calm down, Woonie,” Dujun reacted directly. “It's nothing, don't cry. You don't have to be afraid. We can stop with this topic, it freaks you out. I'm sorry.”
Dujun's phone rang and seeing who was calling, he excused himself and took it. A minute later, he made a sorry face to Dongwoon through the webcam.
“Unexpected schedule with the team, I have to go. Take your time and clean your head, change your mind. Maybe if you go on a walk, you can see him a little and that will soothe you. Just... think of how to make the situation evolve, ok?”
“Yes, hyung.”
“Good. Have to go now. Say hi to Yoseob. Bye, Woonie!”
They each closed their laptop.
Dongwoon sighed, but decided to do as Dujun suggested; Yoseob being out of town that day, he could go out alone and enjoy the sun to change his ideas, hoping to see his own sunshine in his life. After a month, he knew a lot about him.
You don't know (how much I like you)
Lee Kikwang.
That was his name, and yes, he was also korean eventhough they were in Japan – how funny, to have a crush on someone from the same country, overseas. Through his many walks and meets with Kikwang, him not knowing it, Dongwoon learned about him, his hobbies, his likes, even knew from afar few of his friends, and so on.
Kikwang went to the gym once almost everyday – he was on his way the first day Dongwoon met him. Behind his large hoodies he loved to wear, there was a tone and thin body, and heavenly abs. Don't misunderstand it, Dongwoon didn't see it but once, he had seen Kikwang going out of the gym, just wearing a white and skin-tight wifebeater which perfectly showed his tough body. But honestly, only his body was tough, because his personnality was just bubbly. His eyesmile always blinded Dongwoon, showed the most happiest person on earth. His laugh could make grow colorful flowers, he was cheerful and always kind with everyone in the streets, often helping people when he could – carry heavy boxes for example. His good mood totally made Dongwoon melted – and also the entire neighborhood who had the chance to interact with him.
He was not only kind, but also naive, dumb and clumsy. He could trip over nothing, believed his friends when they joked around with him about facts – but not in a mean way, because they couldn't harm such a pure and innocent person. Dongwoon also noticed that Kikwang's accent was the most adorable accent on earth; he had difficulties to speak japanese but had all his will to talk to others and his shy smile could speak for himself if he messed up his vocabulary. When he didn't understand something, he would cutely pout with sorry eyes and then say “sumimasen”.
At the coffee shop, he mostly took smoothie or cappucino with lots of latte cream who gave him a cute white foam mustache above his plumpy lips. While shopping, he would buy scented candles, like a woman, and the kind of movie he borrowed at the videoclub was mostly action movies. For music, he liked R&B and hip hop, and was in love with Usher and Chris Brown – such a cute fanboy. He also liked a lot sport brands, earrings and caps; Dongwoon swore he had a real huge collection.
Dongwoon learned all of those stuffs concerning Kikwang but he never talked to him. He was a silent stalker but, truth to be said, he really didn't like that word because he didn't think of himself as creepy. He had never followed Kikwang to his apartment. He didn't know where he lived, and had never taken pictures of him. He learned all these things because he was truly attentive when he spotted him, and most of the time, it was intentional that they would be in the same store at the same time. His crush on him was so huge that he remembered all the little things done or said and then would talk about it to Yoseob at the university or to Dujun during their skype talks. At first Yoseob almost took fear of Dongwoon being a stalker, but the younger really wasn't creepy or psychopath and just fangirlized about Lee Kikwang like a fanboy over his ultimate bias. Honestly, it was cute, but deep inside, Dongwoon, Yoseob and Dujun knew it was also pathetic. Because of his shiness and having the habit to watch him from afar, Dongwoon never searched to initiate the conversation. And as time passed, he less and less had the guts to do so.
Dongwoon's like for Kikwang was true but also painful, because Dongwoon liked him so much while he never crossed Kikwang's mind because the other didn't know even his existence, and that was killing Dongwoon. It was that kind of dark thought – but oh-so-true – which made him depressed, but then, he would see him from afar and all was forgotten and forgiven, and he would smile like the stalkerish fanboy he was.
If your heart wants
I can dream with you
The last thing to know about Kikwang was that he also loved to dance; Dongwoon learned not that much ago that he was part of a dance crew, because he had seen them do a performance an afternoon during the week-end at the park. Dongwoon had been totally mesmerized by the flawless and powerful movements Kikwang could do. He was so y when he was concentrated and immersed in the music. But then, when the audience had cheered for them, he had such a cute and shy smile with his eyes disappearing that Dongwoon only could calm his heart which beat so loudly. He loved to see so much aspects of Kikwang, because he felt like he was a closed friend – the difference being that Kikwang knew nothing about him, not even his existence. Anyway, because they were promoting their dance studio, Dongwoon had taken a flyer and knew the address of the studio called 'In the cloud'. He didn't had the chance yet to see how was the building, but he decided that day to visit. It wasn't only for Kikwang though – even if he was a huge part of his decision – but he was already a fan of the dance crew. Their performances, even if they weren't perfect because they were still novices, were attractive and he enjoyed to see them all in their element, enjoying the music and the dance to the fullest.
To go to the studio, he needed to take the bus and then to walk a little. The drive lulled him and he enjoyed to discover this new part of the town he didn't know yet. The borough was nice and less crowded than he thought. Struggling to find the studio he made back and forth and began to be frustrated to have such a bad sens of orientation. He took a new street but it was only residential and at this hour, completely empty; he wanted to go back to the main street when some shouts from a building drew his attention. It seemed like angry shouts, and Dongwoon frowned. He hesitated on what to do, when a tall guy came from an adjacent street, harshly gripping the arm of someone who screamed, terrified, some more profanities in a broken japanese. They were almost fighting and Dongwoon suddenly paralyzed. The one who was in danger was no other one than Kikwang, and he was struggling to escape the strong grip of this scary guy who didn't want to let him go. Dongwoon couldn't stay frozen, he had to help. That was the first time he saw something else than a smile on Kikwang's face. He was terrified and Dongwoon didn't want to see him hurt nor crying. That's why after his first shock, he raced toward them – they hadn't seen him until then. Also scared that the unknown guy would beat the out of him and not being able to protect Kikwang, Dongwoon exclamed in japanese:
“What are you doing?! Leave him alone!”
He made the other let go of Kikwang's arm and he stood in front of him to protect him from a possible punch – lucky that Dongwoon was 10 centimeters taller.
“I called the police,” Dongwoon lied while showing his phone in his hand. “If you leave now, they won't do anything to you! Just never bother him again or I will be less lenient!”
Dongwoon tried the best he could not to stutter or to shake to be persuasive enough. He took advantage on his height – the other almost had a head less than him even if it was obvious Dongwoon was younger. Much to Dongwoon's satisfaction, the other left in a hurry, and Dongwoon sighed loudly once he wasn't in view anymore. Worriedly, he turned to Kikwang still standing behind him and he asked in a little voice:
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”
His eyes widened seeing Kikwang in tears.
“Oh my god, oh my god, please, don't cry, I, I-...”
Not really knowing what to do, Dongwoon hazardly wiped of the cristal tears on Kikwang's cheeks, but he was afraid to be rejected because Kikwang was in shock, didn't know him and maybe didn't want any skinship at that moment because of the unknown guy's aggressivity. But to Dongwoon's surprise, Kikwang leaned against him at his touch and hid his head on Dongwoon's chest, shivering. Dongwoon stayed dumbfounded, and awkwardly patted Kikwang's shoulder. His heart was pounding so ing loud and rapidely and he was afraid it would freak Kikwang out, but the other seemed to relax.
What an awkward situation, Dongwoon thought. Few hours ago, he didn't even dream that Kikwang would be in his arms. But the fact was that he was, and more he was also crying and in a bad state, more like really shocked. And Dongwoon couldn't help him a lot – he wasn't a close friend.
“Er... We should go somewhere else,” Dongwoon whispered, hoping that Kikwang would do something.
But nothing came so Dongwoon supposed that the best thing was to bring Kikwang to the dance studio. There, there would be his friends and they would know what tot do.
“We-we will head toward your dance studio, okay?” Dongwoon stuttered.
Dongwoon walked the best he could – Kikwang was hiding his face on his chest after all, and didn't want to let go of his arms. He didn't seem to be really aware of his surrouding; just like he only trusted Dongwoon and he would follow him to the other part of the globe. Dongwoon hoped he wasn't that shocked by the guy earlier, and wanted to arrive to the dance studio pretty quickly. He used Google map to have a direct way, and after three minutes of walking, they were finally there – Dongwoon was glad because people eyed them weirdly. Once in the entrance, a guy who was sipping a drink at the vending machine exclamed a loud “Kiki!” and ran toward his friend with worry all over his face.
“Are you alright?!”
It was said in korean and Dongwoon wondered if the other guy was also korean or if it was just to talk with Kikwang – he was sure he already had seen him with Kikwang.
“What happened?” the guy asked, finally looking at Dongwoon.
Dingwoon noticed a change in this guy expression once he landed his eyes on him, but he didn't think more and just explained:
“I was walking on the streets when I saw him being bothered by a guy pretty scary and insistent. I helped him but he's in this state since the guy left. I think he's shocked. You're his friend, right? You'll be able to calm him down...”
“How did you know to come here? Kiki told you?”
“I-I'm a fan of your dance crew and I recognized Kikwang-ssi thanks to one of your performances I attented last sunday,” Dongwoon stuttered.
He of course didn't mention that he was also a little too stalkerish about Kikwang, because he didn't want to be hated – for once he could do something else than just watch him from afar...
“Thanks a lot for your help. Kikwang isn't at ease yet in Japan. You're korean right? What's your name? How old are you?”
Dongwoon was taken aback by all these questions but it was fair; he was a stranger after all. Kiwkang was now safely in his friend's embrace, sleepy, and they sat while Dongwoon awkwardly stayed standing in front of them.
“I'm Dongwoon, I'm indeed korean and I'm 20, I'm here for a year at the university. You know, japanese-korean class...,” he finished, not really sure if the other was interested in that fact while his friend began to sleep in his arms, his head on his shoulder.
“Hm, I see... I'm Hyunseung by the way. Part of the dance crew Kiki's in too.”
Dongwoon remembered him and his name too now that Hyunseung had told him; he often saw him with Kikwang.
“I didn't see you even once near here,” Hyunseung suddenly said.
“I-I wanted to visit your dance studio because I found your last perfs really cool. Just to show my support as a fan,” Dongwoon blushed. “Luckily I was here to help Kikwang-ssi...”
One second, he thought Hyunseung was accusing him of
