oh haeyoung
"It's a pirouette, not a twirly thing!"
PERSONALITY TRAITS —
POSITIVE: caring, intelligent, calm, challenging
NEGATIVE: callous, mean spirited, vague, uncooperative
ELABORATION —
• The last thing Haeyoung is known for, is her caring side. So, for most people, when they see her actually taking care of someone: it's like a slap to the face. Throw some cold water on that kid because holy crap, is Oh Haeyoung actually being helpful? Never would've thought. That may be an exaggeration; but, Haeyoung isn't known for her ability to be warm-hearted and tender. The only time people tend to see her like this, is when Jooheon gets himself in deep trouble. She'll sweet talk the teacher and act like she's as sweet as pie. Of course, she's learned over time that the only you begin to care is when you need to. You don't always have to be kind. She finds that a downfall. She's usually thinking logically in these moments. Hence why people think she's conniving: but it's just her intelligence leaking in. She's not an honors student for nothing. Her intelligence is one thing that has always carried her through situations. (Especially getting Jooheon out of trouble.) People tend to believe that the only reason Haeyoung is as intelligent as she is; is due to the fact that her father is a brilliant businessmen. She rolls her eyes at that. She rolls her eyes at that. Being bestfriends with a troublemaker, tends to get her in a lot of sticky situations. Thankfully, she's always managed to stay level headed. Be calm, stay calm. Don't get wrapped up in the rumor mill. Don't let teacher's opinions get you down. If someone is yelling at you, and saying that you've done wrong: try not to yell back. Try to keep yourself under control. There are sometimes this tends not to work, and that happens when people challenge her. It doesn't even matter what the challenge is: she'll fight back. She loves challenges, whatever it is. And if one is thrown her way, she'll take it, and run.
That side of Haeyoung, is rarely known. The nice side that is. The one that Jooheon and Minhyuk know; but, no one else. In school, besides being seen as 'the dancer', Haeyoung is pretty well-known for uncaring (nearly cold) nature. She's not callous to the point that she's cruel to others; she's just uncaring to those she doesn't know. This may have to do with the fact that Jooheon is her best friend. Being friends with a prankster, meant eyes always watching them. And rumors spreading like wildfire. Haeyoung hated that (still does) and because of that, doesn't like the people at her school much. If she hears someone gossiping in the halls, she doesn't mind sprinkling them with the respect bug. 'Check yourself before you wreck yourself' is kind of what she tells them. She's often known for her inconsiderate ways in school. If she bumps into someone, she doesn't say sorry, if she causes someone to drop their science project that took them ten hours of slave work, she won't help pick up the pieces. People label her as a . Which is funny; because, Minhyuk is like the male version of him and people label him as the hot loner. Hmm, thinly disguised misogyny maybe? At least, that's what she thinks. But, she doesn't let that bother her. People can think what they want, and they can call her what they want. All she knows, is that she has three years of high school left, and when she's done: she doesn't have to take crap from them anymore.
If Jooheon could define his best friend, he'd call her 'ill-defined'. Some may believe this is him trying to say that she's undefinable; but, it's actually him saying that she's kind of an unclear person. Yeah, she's the dancer and the smart kid; but, is that truly who she is? Or is there more? Because, to Jooheon she's the kid who easily pulls pranks with him and gets all nutty around his cousin. But in school she's seen as the , and mean girl who never does anyone any good. To Jooheon she's the kid who pigs out on all the calorie filled snacks in his kitchen that his mom thinks she actually hid. To many different people, she's many different things. She's weird. Or she's mean. She's nice. Or she's smart. She's unclear. That's what Jooheon thinks. His best friend changes herself to meet up with people's standards. And he believes, the true her, is the side she shows him and his cousin. Sadly, whenever he brings this up, Haeyoung will turn the conversation down and pretend like she never heard it. And that may be due to the fact that she's stubborn. If she hears something she doesn't like (sees something she doesn't like) she'll avoid it. If people push her too much, she'll explode. If the situation is coming to quickly, she'll hide away. Some people happen to be stubborn in a good way; but, Haeyoung isn't one of those people.
BACKGROUND + FAMILY LIFE —
• Haeyoung was born in the midst of winter to a wealthy man named Jisung, and a model mother known as Hyorim. Growing up was definitely tiring. Her father (the CFO of hotel group) always seemed to be flying around from country to country, in order to raise his businesses wealth. Her mother seemed to always be at photoshoots. Seeing as they were always away, Haeyoung was stuck with a nanny, some maids, butlers, cooks, and the rest of the servants that her parents (mainly her father) had hired. For the first few years of her life, she did nothing but do what babies do. But the minute she turned five, her mother requested that the nanny start taking her to ballet lessons. And thus, her dancing career began. There's never been a sole reason her mother forced her to start; but, there's always been a reason she's had her continue. At her first serious dance class, everyone in the room knew she had natural talent. From there on, it grew. Although her mother has always forced her to focus on dance, her father has pushed her to focus on her studies. Hence why she's always felt so stressed growing up. Between trying to keep her grades at top percent, and also trying to keep herself steady at dance: by the young age of ten, Haeyoung was exhausted.
It's really no wonder (for her) why she's friends with a childish kid like Jooheon. Seeing as her childhood was spent between dance classes, homework, and being lonely: she needs someone to bring out her youthful side. Someone who can make her laugh, drive her crazy, and make her do things she's not used to doing. Growing up with Jooheon, meant pranking his quiet cousin Minhyuk, waking up in the middle of the night (while his parents are sleeping) to get millions of snacks out of the kitchen, and dragging a resistance Minhyuk on adventures around the city. Her childhood up to the age of thirteen, was fun. But the minute she hit fourteen, her mother forced her into more dance and her father forced her into more schoolwork. There was no longer time for hanging around and doing fun things with Jooheon. Which meant, leaving him on his own and only seeing him in the hallways at school. Seeing as she was placed in honors and IB classes while he was placed in normal classes: they barely ever saw each other. And when Jooheon became so infused with pranking, they didn't even eat lunch with each other.
Haeyoung's home relationship has never been something she's liked. Her parents are never home, and even though she doesn't have a nanny anymore: she's increasingly lonely at home. Which is why she had her father build a dance studio into their house; and that's where she spends most of her time. Most kids would find living in a house all by theirself (without parental control) amazing. Haeyoung sees it differently. All she wants, one time in her life, is to have a week with her parents. No business. No uproots. Just her parents, and her. But she knows, deep down inside, that'll never happen. So, she's stuck spending her time doing what they wish. School and dance. School and dance. Nothing else but school and dance.
RELATIONSHIPS —
• That One Kid - Son Hyunwoo - Senior - Quiet, Kind, Nice - The first time Haeyoung had met Hyunwoo was the day of the incident. Of course she had heard of him, the supposed saving grace of the basketball team. She managed to figure out that he's actually a nice guy. He holds open doors for people, smiles at people no matter what, and always seems to be supportive. He seems to be the only nice person of the group of kids.
• The Mean One - Shin Hoseok - Senior - Arrogant, Mean, Loyal - Probably her least favorite person on the planet. If people say that Jooheon is their least favorite person on the squad, Hoseok would be Haeyoung's. She honestly hates people who find themselves better than others. And he's one of those people. He's the one who constantly shows it to. And Haeyoung hates that.
• The Childhood Stranger - Lee Minhyuk - Junior - Quiet, Oblivious, Coldhearted - If Jooheon is Fred and George, and Haeyong is Hermione: Minhyuk is a softer version of Draco. Haeyoung grew-up with not only Jooheon, but Minhyuk too. For some reason, Minhyuk never wanted to be near them and always tried to do his own thing. Leaving him merely as a stranger. For some reason, though, that only made Haeyoung want to know him more. And over time, her crush formulated, despite him not noticing. Sadly, the mean boy has never noticed despite Jooheon always using it as a joke (scaring the crap out of Haeyoung) and Haeyoung always trying to show him in her own ways.
• The One Who Hate's Her - Yoo Kihyun - Junior - Rude, Intelligent, Trusting - Haeyoung has always known that the upperclassman was a favorite of Jooheon's to pick on. Whether it was because Kihyun was so nerdy, he was an easy target. Or it was because Kihyun had done something to piss off Jooheon: Kihyun hated her because of it. At the start of the squad, Kihyun picked Haeyoung as his target for pent up aggression. Glaring at her, saying snarky things about her, just being rude. And it's not even her fault.
• The Awkward Child - Chae Hyungwon - Junior - Insecure, Absentminded, Charming - Haeyoung had seen on multiple occasions, how people fawned over Hyungwoo. Like he was some famous actor, or great hero. But, over time, she's realized he's nothing more than just another face in the crowd. Why people like him so much? She'll never know. In her opinion, he's a little too weird. That's not to say he's not nice; because, well, he is. But he seems to be acting like he has some big secret; a secret she doesn't want to know.
• The Childhood Best Friend - Lee Jooheon - Sophomore - Childish, Humorus, Sly - Jooheon and Haeyoung have grown-up with each other since they were in diapers. There's never been a time in which they weren't with each other. Even though they're practically opposites, the two always seem to be by each other sides. Well, she seems to be by his side: helping him. He's usually not there to help her. He's usually too busy plotting his newest prank, and somehow getting her in trouble too. But, no matter what, he'll always be the Fred, and George to her Hermione.
• The One She Doesn't Know - Im Changkyun - Freshman - Sweet, Caring, Secretive - Haeyoung's not quite sure when Changkyun appeared; but, he did and he seems okay. From what she knows, he actually seems nice: which is weird because she's best friend with Jooheon. And even if he's new, he should've come to understand that Jooheon is a pest who caused this mess. Despite that, he's tried to befriend her: which, is even stranger. She gets they're in the same grade; but, still. Weird.
GPA — 3.5
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES — A ballet dancer at a nearby dance school.
DETENTIONS & SUSPENSIONS — Approximently three detentions for being late to class.
DETENTIONS & SUSPENSIONS — Approximently three detentions for being late to class.
PLOTLINE + BACKUP — Minhyuk
SQUAD POSITION + BACKUP — FLYER
REASONS THEY GOT THE POSITION — The obvious reason she's been granted the position of flyer, is due to the fact that she's flexible and athletic. If anyone deserves one of the flyer positions, it's Haeyoung. Although she believes she'd be better being the captain (because for some reason she feels like she's a good leader when she's not) she's stuck with the flyer position.
