It's her hair that first catches his eye; a bright red waterfall cascading past her shoulders, loose strands escaping and falling into her face as she leans into the book in her hands. Jongin is trying to catch up on his own readings but his eyes keep on wandering back to the red-headed girl, and the more he looks, the more he is enthralled.
Jongin doesn't believe in love at first sight, but there's something about this girl that captivates him and he's not sure he understands anything about it. It’s more than just the fact that he finds her pretty.
There is an old Chinese folktale that says two people who are destined to be soul mates are tied together by their pinky fingers with a red string. Jongin feels, vaguely, as if he is being reined in to her by that string, though of course he doesn’t know who she is and the chances that she is his soul mate or anything like that seems remote.
Still, she doesn’t leave his mind.

the other chapters will be much longer than this, i promise.
i originally planned to just put everything in one chapter as a one-shot (which is partly why this section is so short) but decided against it. i hope this format will work better for the story!
