Foreword

Welcome to my first B.A.P story!  I know I really should be working on my other story, No More Goodbyes, but I have no control over my muse.

Feel free to associate yourself with either Sheila/Seungyong or Myeongeun, or just enjoy the story with the original characters as they are.  If you're here for the romance tag, please be aware that it's eventual.  When it comes, I will do my best to make it worth the wait!  Also, there are some warnings for this story – there will be censored cursing (thank you, Sheila), light yuri (girl-girl relationship) in the beginning stages of this story, possible debates regarding religion (both real and alien), blood, and violence.

I also want to say a huge thank you to my dear friend rothfyae, whose hard work is featured here.  She puts up with my requests for art, opened a Photobucket account so that I could put images in this story, and has worked hard to draw not only my OCs from my descriptions, but also the boys of B.A.P.  If you like her work, please support her through Deviantart!  I know from experience how hard it is to draw, especially if you're trying to mimic a real person's face.  rothfyae, if you ever bother to read the work of a closet fangirl of K-pop like me, please accept my deepest gratitude.  I owe you a lot!

Characters

Sheila Kim did nothing but hate for the longest time.  She hated her father for leaving her mother back at home in the States; she hated her mother for losing herself so much that her family in Korea called her back home to look after her, and she hated South Korea itself as soon as she set foot on it.  Refusing to speak Korean or to answer to the Korean name she had chosen, Seungyeong, Sheila spent a good year and a half being rebellious, getting into fights, and failing classes until she met her best friend and sometimes girlfriend Myeongeun, who helped her pull herself together.  She now works night shifts as a barista at a club in the underground.  She is eighteen (standard international) and in her second year of high school (she failed a year).

Lee Myeongeun plays the part of a bubbly and innocent girl who overflows with cuteness in order to slide under the academic radar so that she can pursue her dreams of fashion.  She struggles with her relationship with her family as they deal with her troubled older brother.  She met Sheila over the summer break of her second year in high school and helped soften her bitter feelings.  Though she does not go to the same school as Sheila, the two maintain a close relationship that hovers somewhere between best friends and girlfriends.  She waitresses and dances at the same club that Sheila works at.  She is seventeen (standard international) and in her second year of high school.

Himchan is the official leader of the elite team of six which travelled all the way from B124AP224 to T235ER335RA, better known to its natives as Earth.  He’s good-natured and peace-loving, having become a soldier in order to bring peace to his people, so he often relies on his longtime friend Yongguk to make the military calls.  Even though he can be a bit of a mother hen, he deserves his high rank, which he attained because of his rare and powerful skill, telepathy.  This skill allows him to observe a scenario and direct his soldiers in the most casualty-minimizing method possible.  His equivalent Earth age is twenty-one (standard international).

[Work in progress]

Yongguk is Himchan’s second in command and battle strategist.  He puts on a tough exterior for the soldiers he leads, but can be an even bigger softie than Himchan.  On his home planet, he’s beloved by his soldiers for fighting at their side even though he outranks them and could remain safe away from the field.  He’s renowned for his physical strength and his uncanny instincts, which have saved him from death many times, and his red eyes have struck fear into the hearts of many enemies.  His equivalent Earth age is twenty-one (standard international).

[Work in progress]

Daehyun is the team’s intelligence specialist.  He gained his position through his skills in observation and his special trait is his powerful senses, his double-edged sword.  He’s quirky and funny, but can exchange his innate demeanor for the powerful and intimidating appearance of a seasoned soldier.  He has a secret passion for singing and is one of the biggest lovers and critics of food on planet B124AP224 because of his sharp senses of taste and smell.  His equivalent Earth age is nineteen (standard international).

Youngjae functions as the team’s resident genius jack-of-all-trades.  He’s a doctor, a scientist, an analyst, an engineer – you name it, he’s probably experimented with it at one point or another.  He’s witty, curious, more than a little devious, and lives for learning.  He claims that he’s destined for great things because of his curious yellow eyes.  Of course, his specialness comes at a price, as he is by the far the weakest physically on the team.  When the time comes for battle, he usually hangs back and communicates with Himchan, who processes the information, devises as strategy, and sends out his calls telepathically.  His equivalent Earth age is eighteen (standard international).

[Work in progress]

Jongup is the team’s fastest field soldier.  He’s sweet, lovable, adorably awkward, and fiercely loyal to his team and friends.  While he’s not as strong as the others (though he’s beats Youngjae by a longshot) or the best problem solver, he’s physically far faster and more surefooted than any of them, even Zelo.  He loves music and dancing, and has some of the fastest feet in Korea and on B124AP224.  His equivalent Earth age is seventeen (standard international).

[Work in progress]

Zelo is the team’s resident cyborg.  Well, actually, he’s only part cyborg, and it’s all thanks to Yongguk and Youngjae, who saved him after the young child ran into a collapsing building to help a pregnant mother.  Over half of his body is robotic, and his parts often have to be changed, as his organic body is still growing.  Because he was operated on when he was so young, he retains the personality of a cheerful child, though his mechanical brain can process information almost as quickly as Youngjae.  Being part cyborg allows Zelo to interact well with technology, shoot projectile weapons with terrifying accuracy, retain incredible amounts of information, and more.  His equivalent Earth age is fifteen (standard international).
