Amazing........

Dancing to the Beat of my Heart

Chae-jin's POV:

We walked out of the building, and into our car to go to some interview with MTV. On the way there, I stayed quiet, lost in thought about Electrify and how they would surprise us when we got back. Even though hyung had told them not to do it all, I had a feeling they were the type of people who don't settle for just barely scraping the bottom. I smiled in spite of myself. They were younger than me, yet they seemed to be so much more diligent than me.

"Ya, Jinnie-ah. What are you smiling for?" Se-yong hyung caught me.

I looked at the bottom of the car and said, "I was just thinking about Ele....Elec...Electrify? It's so hard to say!"

"Edechypie?" Gunwoo said as an attempt to say their name and everyone laughed.

"So do you like them?" our main manager asked from the front seat.

"They seem really interesting... not anything you would expect from people so young." Gunwoo hyung said.

"Yeah... they give off this different feeling, like they want to surprise you every single day. They're definitely not typical Koreans... they're so confident, but cautious and shy at the same time." Insoo hyung added,

"I know what you're saying! And they treated us repsectfully, as they should, and it was a bit uncomfortable at first, but they didn't like worship us or anything. It was like we're normal people." Seyong hyung said.

"And they ad-libbed most of their video, but I couldn't tell what was scripted or not since it was so natural..." Jun-Q hyung was still amazed.

"I think they really put their true selves on the video... I didn't really sense anything fake." Gunwoo said critically.

"This makes me so shameful of my performances..."I said quietly, and the hyung's burst into laughter.

"You just work harder, k?" Insoo encourages and bonked my head.

"So you guys really like them huh?" our manager asked again.

"Yeah, definitely! They're pretty attractive too.... except they're pretty tan!"

"Well, they just came from America yesterday, and they've lived there for pretty much their entire lives."

"Really? But their Korean is perfect! And they don't look tired at all!"  The manager smiled.

"They're great right? That's why they were scouted."

"The boys are almost handsome enough to be natural boyband material! Especially Sang-min. He's really pretty..."

"Almost like a girl, but he has that boyish, mischevious look to him"

"I think Sung-joon is the handsome friend that's always there for you type."

"And he likes to smile! Like our Jinnie!" They all looked at me and I smiled unconciously. They all laughed again.

"How are the girls?" Our manager asked.

"Eunmi is like the confident, outgoing, pretty unnie that everyone wants to have."

"She's pretty skinny! Almost model status... but not yet. She'll probably have a really good body when she's a few years older"

"Hae-mi's pretty skinny too....but she's more athletically built. I'll bet you she likes playing soccer."

"How can you tell, hyung?" I asked.

"She's slim, but not frail-looking, except her arms are sticks! But her legs look strong and more muscular than Eunmi's."

"And you looked at their legs because......"

"Well, they were wearing sort of short shorts!" Seyong hyung defended himself.

"I think Haemi's the type of person who's quiet and is a really good listener. But when she wants to be, she can be loud and take care of others as well."

"I think she's the one that'll surpise us the most."

"Who do you like the best?" our manager asked.

"I don't know yet...." we answered in unison.

Back to your POV:

"So the girls don't know the choreography yet right?"

"Yeah...." you and Eunmi both said.

"We haven't practiced in a while, so the moves are just familiar ones that we did in talent shows and stuff, okay?"

"So the hardest part will be making it flow and in perfect unison when we do the in-sync group moves."

"Yeah.... So the intro goes like this...." Sung-joon demonstrated the moves slowly while Sang-min told you and Eunmi what each move was supposed be.

(The first part of the intro is sort of like the first 15-10 seconds of this vid: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_wLEaEC0Zs) and the 2nd part of the intro is regular hip-hoppy, kpop dancing)

"drop, catch, slide up, seperate, whoosh, in! back out, run, flip! twirl, twirl, twirl. drop. 1st person solo dance, then 2nd person, then 3rd person, then 4th person... it's supposed to look like a staircase or raising the bar effect... it's free, no specific choreography. Back to group dancing, fist, fist, slide back and arms go down. 1st person pose, 2nd person pose. 3rd person pose. 4th person pose. slow drop. scorpian dance. Then that's the end of the intro." Sang-min narrated as Sung-joon illustrated it. (If you don't know what the scorpian dance is.... it's in Infinite's BTD and Beast's beautiful MV)

"It's not that hard then... it just looks complicated when it's all put together." Eunmi said as she tried doing some of the moves she remembered.

"The scorpian dance is gonna be a stretch for me though...." you said.

"Try it right now... you might have improved since last time since you got stronger and more flexible." Sung-joon suggested.

You slowly dropped to the ground onto your stomach and bent your arms so that your palms were on the ground and ready to push off. You slowly raised one leg as you bent the other with your toe sliding on the ground and pushed your self up. You managed to get on both feet, but you lost your balance and fell on your .

"Ow..." You said.

"But that was so much better than 2 years ago!" Sung-joon said in disbelief. "You couldn't even get on your feet last time."

You smiled as he pulled you up. Just a little practice, and it'd be perfect... and after 8 times of doing it, your scorpian dance was performance-quality.

On the 9th try, you guys got into the formation you were going to be in in the video and on Sung-joon's 1..2..3! you all did the scorpian dance in almost perfect sync except Sung-joon was a little slow. You did it again, and this time, it was crispy clean.

"Yeah!" You shouted with a smile. Eunmi laughed and said, "But Sang-min is going to have a hard time the "whoosh!" part." (it's the part in the video where the girls jump and spin in the air and land on their feet... it sor tof looks like a cartwheel with no hands)

"I guess he just has to work on that while you guys learn the rest of the intro's choreography," Sung-joon suggested.

"Do we have a mat though? I'll probably fall the first few times...."

"I'll go see if there's some in the other rooms," your manager said and walked out of the room.

"So drop, catch yourself before you hit the floor, slide up.... and then we seperate into a square formation before the whoosh." You and Eunmi copied Sung-joon almost perfectly, but Eunmi hesitated before doing the whoosh, so the timing was all off.

"Again," Sung-joon commanded, and you did it 4 more times before you guys did a perfect run-through. Just then, the manager brought the mat in and you guys helped Sang-min with his difficult part.

Jun-Q's POV:

Our scheduled event was over and we were in the elevator to go see Electrify... again. There was an anticipation we all shared as we walked toward the practice room and when we entered....... they were resting on the floor?

"Hey... what's going on guys?" Insoo asked. He sounded concerned and the other hyung's faces look confused and worried. I didn't really know what to say. All our fears were extinguished though, because when the 4 kids all looked up at us, they seemed calm and happy.

"Did you guys practice some of it?" Seyong hyung asked.

"Nope!" Eunmi surprised out with her exclamation.

"Huh?!" We all blurted out at the same time.

"We're ready to PERFORM it ALL for you!"

I saw Jinnie (Chaejin' s nickname) smile without realizing it.

"Then let's see it," Insoo hyung said and we sat on the floor in front of them with out backs against the mirror wall.

Their manager started the music and all of a sudden, they had this complicated-looking move in the beginning. The first few seconds were more gymnastic-like.. whoa. what was that? a cartwheel with no hands? their poses are in perfect rhythym with the music. some more moves and they fell? no... scorpian dance in almost perfect sync! Now it's more of hip-hoppy dances..... their dancing is pretty good! Almost as in sync as Shinee sunbaenim's! No wonder they were scouted. What? Sung-joon slipped? Oh.. Eunmi caught him... but she fell? but Sang-min caught them... but he fell? no he landed softly... and Haemi did a one handed cartwheel in front of their flat bodies. Sung-joon must've madeit looked like he slipped on purpose. Now they're doing ripple moves! (It's like the wave at baseball games or what ever except it's a ripple since its only a few people and it's different dance moves instead of just standing and raising your arms... a simple example is in Boyfriend's Dont touch my girl MV where Jeong-min's singing and they put their hands down one after another when they're in a diagonal line) ... back to hip-hoppy moves. now they've all fallen on the floor and acting like they're being shocked alive again. the music ended? now they're still...... Sung-joon stood up.

"That's the end..." he said, panting a little. The rest of the group sat up, but looked sort of tired like Sung-joon. I didn't blame them... that was a pretty intensive routine for what.... only 2 minutes?

Back to you POV:

You heard Sung-joon say, "That's the end," and you sat up. You looked up at the faces of the MYNAME members, but all you saw was shock. You looked at your manager and even he seemed frozen in his spot. Your heart sunk and you said in a small voice, "Was it that bad....?"

"What?! No! That was just amazing.... especially for your age!" Insoo quickly said.

"I've been taking dance classes for a long time now," he continued, "and that performance was almost college calibur. There are some things that you can do better though. But I have to say. I'm really impressed. and you did the whole routine too! Wow."

"It was really good." the others agreed, and you couldn't suppress your happiness. A huge smile lit up your face and all the boys paused in surprise for a moment. (remember you're really pretty when you smile? :P)

Your manager said, "So let's hurry and fix their dancing so we can film this thing. It's later than lunch already and we stop by your school."

"What?" Sung-joon asked. "We do?"

"Did I not tell you guys? oops...."

"It sort of seems like you don't really tell us anything........"

"Sorry guys.... there's a lot of things on my mind. but back to the dancing!"

"Right." Gunwoo said. "When you guys "accidentally" fell, I really liked how you made facial expressions as if you really made a mistake, and then changed your expression after you showed the audience it was actually a planned dance move. BUT! just try to exaggerate your expressions more and two of you guys got off a little because you were too focused on the expressions."

You guys practiced your expressions for 20 minutes until Gunwoo was satisfied with your acting skills. He then had you guys try to put the expressions and "accidental" dancing together which you guys had to practice for another 30 minutes until you got the combination perfectly clean. After that practice, Insoo also said, " You need to be more precise on the ripple moves too... and I think that's it?" He looked to the other members who nodded their heads in agreement. So they showed you guys how to be extremely precise at a slow tempo, and you guys followed after them. With Seyong clapping the beat, you guys did the ripple faster and faster with the same amount of accuracy until you reached the original tempo you had performed at. This is took 30 more minutes, and you were all sweating and tired by the end of the short, but intensive practice.

"Hyuu...." you sighed as you sat down on the floor, showing your aegyo again. Eunmi asked you to massage her shoulders which you did as Sung-joon and Sang-min lay on the floor on top of each other. Even the MYNAME members seemed tired, and they sat on the floor intermixed with you guys.

"You guys deserve a break... that was a really good practice," your manager said. "I'll let you rest for 15 minutes okay?"

"Can we get snacks?" Eunmi asked, making you, Sung-joon, and Sang-min burst into laughter.

"Eunmi eats the most, " Sung-joon explained to the confused MYNAME members.

"I'll leave that up to MYNAME," your manager said as he headed toward the door. "I have to check something really quick... I'll be back in 15 minutes, so rest up! Gunwoo's in charge."

"snacks?" Eunmi looked hopefully up at Gunwoo, who look at the rest of us.

"There's a store few buildings down from here... I guess we could go get something from there?"

"I don't want to move," Sang-min grumbled from underneath Sung-joon.

"Me neither...." agreed Jun-Q.

"Then we'll elect people to go buy for us. 1 from us, 1 from Electrify." Gunwoo replied.

"I chose the leader line," Chae-jin raised his hand who got a playful hit in the head from Gunwoo.

"Ya!" Gunwoo scolded him as Seyong said, "I say maknae line goes!"

"leaders for me," you quickly said, not wanting to get up either, but your luck was out since all the others started saying, "maknae!!" and poking you and Chaejin until you guys both said okay. You put on your backpack and said, "You're so mean......" with a pouty face.

"Why are you like this, hyungs?" Chaejin said with aegyo, but the others just pushed you guys out the door.

"Come back in 10 minutes okay?" Seyong said with a good-bye wave. "Maknaes, hwaiting!" and he closed the door.
