chapter four  Unexpected
"My name is Jongin. But you can call me Kai."   Jessica felt very soothed by the sound of his voice, his deep and husky voice. She felt herself frozen in her spot, unsure of what to say or how to respond to him. She knew that they were already in an awkward spot and meeting in an awkward way, but she can't change that now.   She just nodded, responding to hearing his name.   "So, I assume you're here for Kyungsoo?" he asked her, leaning against the desk.   Jessica bit on her lip before nodding again.   He chuckled at her. "I know you enjoy staring, but it is rude to stare at a person's body." He stood up straight before grabbing one of the T-shirts from the bed. "Especially since you don't know the person."   Jessica could feel herself blushing at his comment. She really didn't notice that she was staring, but after he mentioned it, she did. "Oh, I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to, really."   Kai chuckled again at her response as he pulled the shirt over his head. "It's okay. I'm just messing with you."   She sighed to herself, relieved of her embarrassment.   He then looked at her with a grin. "You know, I think you look really cute when you're nervous."   What? Jessica thought to herself. Is he trying to hit on me?   "No, I'm not trying to hit on you," he said, as if he were reading her mind. "I just noticed that about you in the last two minutes we've been standing here."   Jessica felt her knees get weaker and weaker by the moment. She felt stuck in her one spot, but yet she felt like she needed to flee from the room in order to get away from embarrassment or feeling humiliated in front of a handsome guy.   Kai approached her. "You look very familiar. Have I seen you somewhere before?"   Jessica bit on her lip, trying to think back if she had ever seen him. But in her mind, she couldn't think of anything.   "Wait," Kai started. "You're Jessica Jung."   Her eyes jolted up.   "You're one of the youngest fashion designers here in Korea. I modeled your clothes before."   Jessica thought back, trying to see if she could remember him. But she couldn't. She's been with so many different models that she couldn't remember half of them. "Really?" Jessica asked, trying to pick the conversation back up. "I'm sorry I can't remember you though."   Kai chuckled once again. "It's okay. I don't expect the designers to remember every one of their models that model their clothes for them."   Jessica laughed at the comment. "Yes. It's very hard." She had this weird feeling in her gut. She didn't know what it was or how she was feeling, but it wasn't normal. It was almost as if she was actually, happy. "I'm sorry. I probably should be getting back to help-"   "No, wait," Kai stopped her. "He said they were taking a little break. Why don't you and I have a proper meeting?" He cracked a little smile for her.   She couldn't say no. He was very polite and it was true that the other boys were taking a break. A proper hello wouldn't hurt, right? "Sure," she said, giving him a nod.   He extended out his hand to her. "I'm Kai. It's very nice to meet you."   Jessica shook her hand with him, giving him a grin. "I'm Jessica. It's nice to meet you as well."   Kai motioned towards his bed. "Please, have a seat here." He pulled over the chair at the desk, taking a seat in it across from her spot on the bed. "So, you're just meeting Kyungsoo for the first time as well?"   Jessica nodded as she gentle placed herself on his bed. "Yes. Your brother seems very kind."   Kai cleared up his throat. "Actually, Kyungsoo is my foster brother."   "Foster brother?" Jessica asked to clarify. She only knew that Kyungsoo had a brother. But she didn't think it was a foster brother. This was interesting to her.   He nodded to her. "Yes. Kyungsoo and his parents brought me into their home when I was a kid. But that's a long story."   Jessica was actually interested. She wanted to know about his back story. But she wondered if he doesn't trust people with such a story. "I would actually love to hear it."   Kai's eyes were in shock. He didn't think some girl he had just met would want to hear his story. His only concern was trusting her.   "I understand if you don't want to tell me due to trusting me or the fact that we just met. I totally understand and respect that."   He grinned at her, amazed. He liked this girl. He liked her attitude. He liked the way she would smile or just grin. He was starting to just like her. "Maybe another time. Hearing this kind of story on the first meeting is a little weird to me."   Jessica nodded, agreeing with him. "Like I said, I totally respect that. But just know that I'm someone that you can trust." She really did mean it, every word. She wanted people to trust her. Most people did.   Kai smiled for her. "And I definitely believe you." He felt himself starting to warm up to her. He found her very comfortable and has her charming ways. "I just don't feel like this is the time to talk about such a topic." He grabbed her hand. "Which does mean that I would like to see you again."   Jessica felt her cheeks turn a light shade a pink. She just nodded again with a grin. "I can give you my number, if that helps."   He chuckled. "It definitely will." He turned around, searching for a pen and a piece of paper that she could use. Once he found a little piece and a pen, he turned back and gave them to her. "Here."   She took the tools in her hand and immediately started jotting down her digits on the blank sheet. Finishing it with her signature, she handed them back to him.   Kai took them, making their hands touch again. He could feel the touch of her hands. They were gentle, soft, and warm. He smiled widely at her. "I'll give you a call later then."   Jessica smiled, getting lost in his deep stare. She could tell that there was more to him. She wanted to know what it was. Wait. She thought. What am I doing? This guy is just any normal guy. He wasn't anyone special. He wasn't like Kris. . .   "Jessica Noona!"   Jessica snapped back to reality upon hearing her name. She looked up and saw Chanyeol at the doorway.   "Noona, we're getting ready to leave," Chanyeol told her.   "Okay. I'll be out in a moment."   Chanyeol nodded before disappearing.   Jessica stood up from the bed and smoothed out her outfit. "I guess I better be going now."   Kai was a little sad that she was leaving, but he didn't show it. He just nodded and stood up. "Alright. I'll walk you out." He led her out of his bedroom and to the others in the living room. "You guys are leaving now?"   Kyungsoo nodded to him. "Yeah. We'll head over to Chanyeol's place, drop off my stuff and then probably head to lunch."   Kai shoved his hands in his pockets. "Alright then. Let me know when you get there then."   "Wait," Baekhyun halted. "Why don't you join us? You're just going to be hanging around, so why not?"   Jessica's face lightened up at the thought. She didn't mind if Kai came along with them.   Seeing her face made Chen smirk. He knew exactly what he wanted to do. "You should come along! I bet Noona would be happy if you did!"   "Chen!" Jessica quietly exclaimed at the younger.   Kai chuckled at her reaction.   "Well, it's just because you guys were talking for a little while. Maybe we interrupted something?" Chen reasoned.   Kai grinned. "I'd love to come along. I can drive behind you."   "Great!" Chen cheered. "Let's go then! I'm hungry!" The troll made his way out the door with another box in his hands.   Baekhyun travelled behind him, shaking his head in embarrassment. "I can't believe I live with this guy."   Chanyeol and Kyungsoo carried the last of the bags out the door, leaving Kai and Jessica behind.   Kai looked towards the girl. "Shall we go then?"   Jessica nodded and walked out.   Kai watched her, not looking down there, where other guys might look. But he watched her petite figure gracefully walking out the door. He smiled to himself as he hurried to grab his keys and his wallet. After locking his apartment door, he quickly moved along to catch up with the others.     The six of them headed their way back to Chanyeol's Baekhyun's, Chen's, and soon-to-be Kyungsoo's apartment in three cars.   The first car was pretty quiet throughout most of the car ride. Chanyeol was focused on his driving, especially since he had all of Kyungsoo's stuff in the back. Kyungsoo was busy controlling the radio. The two of them were enjoying the music being played throughout the ride.   The second car was a little more lively. Jessica was
