It was finally Friday and he was on his way to his first class of the day until he noticed clusters of students headed in the opposite direction. “Hey Yonghwa,” a hot girl waved to him.

“Hey uh whatever your name was,” he hardly glanced at her, noticing even his peers from his class were following the crowd. He faced her again, “where is everyone going?”

Although she didn’t appreciate his attitude, she answered, “there’s an assembly today. We’re all going to the gym.”

“How long is it?” He asked.

“All day. It’s informing students about blah blah blah,” he didn’t listen to a word she said after hearing all day.

Looks like the weekend came early, he thought.

Shinhye, being the diligent student she was, headed straight for the gym as well. That was until an arm grabbed her out of the crowd and dragged her into a classroom. "What the hell Yonghwa?" She glared at the said male.

"There's an assembly today," he said. "And it's all day."

"Tell me something I don't know," she shrugged.

"All day means no classes. No classes means skip day," he smirked thinking he was oh so clever. But of course, she thought the opposite and from her expression he could tell. "We're not learning anything so let's leave."

"We are learning something, assemblies always teach us something," she argued. "Plus I heard an important speaker is going to talk to us."

"Yea, it's Smokey the bear," Yonghwa lied. "Yea that's right, we're just being reminded about fire safety and don't do drugs and how to say no. All that .”

Shinhye frowned, all of these announcements were common sense. She did agree that reminders wouldn't hurt, after all her peers were rather rowdy and she barely survived her first house party weeks ago. But other than that, she really didn't need to sit through this for six hours.

Yonghwa smiled mischievously to himself, he watched his persuasion work on the girl. "But I guess if you need to be reminded how to stop, drop and roll then-" he turned to walk out of the classroom.

"I'm not an idiot," she followed him out.

"Didn't say you were," he replied as he kept walking towards the school gates. All of the school's faculty headed to the gym, no one watched the entrance.

"I know what you're up to. You're implying that I'm such a teachers pet that I'd sit through pointless lectures just to keep a perfect attendance," she said.

He chuckled and decided to play along, "yup that's exactly what I'm implying." He unlocked his car and opened the door to the front seat. "Now get in."

"Why would I do that?" She questioned.

"To prove me wrong," he answered. "Unless you are a teachers pet and you want to enjoy six hours of skits about safe to worst case scenarios on drug use."

She cringed at the horrible acting her classmates usually displayed in those. Yonghwa waited patiently but Shinhye would not go down without a fight. "I don't let anyone control me. And that's why, you're taking me home to study." She hopped into the front seat and pushed his hands away when he tried to pull the seat belt over her.

"So feisty," he muttered before walking to the driver's seat. After he was buckled in, they quickly left the campus without anyone important knowing. "I have errands to run first alright."

"Will they take long?" She asked.

"Depends," he answered honestly. On you.

"What are your errands?" She asked. "Is it even an errand or are you meeting some girl?"

Yonghwa stifled a laugh and kept facing forward. "You'd think I'd bring you with me to meet some chick?"

“I don’t know, the more girls the merrier for you?” She shrugged. He let out a melodious laugh.

“Okay, I admit I’m sort of a player. But already handling one girl is more than enough,” he said. Shinhye definitely couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She couldn’t believe she got in his car in the first place. “Just relax, you’re safe with me.”

She scoffed, “I highly doubt that.” Yonghwa obviously didn’t have errands to fulfill, he just wanted a day out with her. Of course he had the option of taking out the hot girl from earlier for a good time, she would have said yes in a heartbeat. But after Shinhye’s hard work on their marriage project together, he thought she deserved a day at the beach.

He found a parking spot and looked over to the sleeping girl on his right. I’m not surprised you’re exhausted from all that extra studying, he thought. The shudder of the car after he turned off the engine woke her up. “Morning wifey,” he smiled when her eyes barely opened.

“Is this a nightmare?” She asked seeing Yonghwa be the first person she wakes to.

“Ha ha very funny,” he replied unbuckling his seatbelt.

“Am I being kidnapped right now?” She rubbed her eyes and unbuckled herself as well.

“You’d love to be kidnapped by me,” he got out of the car and breathed in the fresh air. Shinhye got out and gazed at the beautiful view of the neverending ocean. “Great isn’t it.”

“What kind of errand do you need to do here?” She questioned. He walked onto the sand and beckoned her over. She waited for an answer when she stood beside him but received none. His eyes were shut and he felt content hearing nothing but the waves crash against the shore. “Yonghwa.” He couldn’t help but smile hearing her call his name. Her voice wasn’t whiny and needy like his past girls.

“Yes wifey?” He asked with his eyes still closed.

“Stop calling me that and answer my question,” she demanded. He peeked one eye open to her. Her eyebrows were scrunched together and she crossed her arms to her chest. “Yonghwa.” She called again a bit irritated with him staring at her.

“This,” he uncrossed her arms and poked her forehead, “is exactly why we’re here.” He only confused her more. “Loosen up. Doesn’t this place make you feel relaxed?”

“How can I feel relaxed when I’m skipping school and I’m not getting anything done?” She frowned.

“Close your eyes,” he ordered. She opened to protest but he shot a look. “Do it or I’ll do it for you.”

“You can’t close my eyes for me,” she stated. He shook his head and began to walk around her. “Yeah, the beach is beautiful like it always is but I can’t appreciate it when there’s things to do. College is right around the corner and I don’t-”

She stopped talking when his palms shielded her sight. His warm chest was pressed against her back and she froze. “Now just listen to the waves. Sounds soothing doesn’t it?” His voice was low and she felt his breath against her neck.

His steady heartbeat calmed her and she couldn’t help but give into the moment. Her eyes closed and she listened to her surroundings. The ocean, seagulls calling each other, Yonghwa’s soft breathing beated the shouts of her peers in a crowded gym. “We already finished the project. And I’m sure you’re more than caught up in school. So just stop and breathe.”

His words felt assuring. He leveled his voice so that it wouldn’t break her out of this trance. He lowered his hands and checked to see if her eyes were closed. They were. He stuffed his hands in his pockets then stood in front of her.

Surprisingly as soon as he stepped away, Shinhye missed the warmth his body brought. She could sense his movement and was able to tell where he stood. Her eyes slowly fluttered open and she lifted her head to face him. The two stared at each other until her cell phone went off in her pocket.

I don’t see you in the gym at all??? Are you taking a or something?

“She wouldn’t believe me if I told her I was skipping,” Shinhye chuckled showing Yonghwa the message. “Let alone the beach with you.”

“Ignore it then. Or tell her you got diarrhea,” he crouched down to untie his shoelaces. She watched him pull his socks off and place them in his shoes. “You should take your shoes off too.”

“Why would I do that?” She asked.

“Because it’s really annoying walking in drenched shoes,” he answered.

“What?” She didn’t catch on.

“Okay then,” he walked closer to her and without warning, lifted her off the sand to carry her in his arms. “Time to let go Shinhye.” He entered the water without a care of wetting his pants.

“PUT ME DOWN!” She shouted. Her arms circled his neck and looked down to check if her skirt stayed dry out of the water.

“I wouldn’t say that if I were you,” he bent forward as though to drop her in.

“NO! DON’T!” She adjusted herself so that she hugged his body. He laughed and walked out of the water. She punched his arm when they stood on the shore. Seeing how half his body was already wet, as revenge she pushed him into the water just as the waves came in. “Don’t mess with me,” she warned.

“You’re going to regret that,” he stood up and chased her. Being much faster without having his shoes restrict him, he hugged her from behind wetting her body. “I think you’re heating up Shinhye, I think you need to take a dip too.”

“No! I’m sorry!” She laughed although he brought them closer to the water.

She was able to take off her shoes, as for the rest of her layers, hell no. They played in the water for a while and it was the most fun Shinhye had in a long while. They eventually had to make a quick escape off the beach to avoid telling the lifeguard why they aren’t in school.

The two were laughing as Yonghwa drove back to their school district. “I’m soaking now thanks to you,” she squeezed her dripping locks out the car window.

“You don’t sound mad about it,” he shook his head the way a dog shook his body when soaked. She laughed because he looked pretty silly. “I’m glad I completed my errands.”

“Going to the beach was an errand?” She texted back Soo Rim.

“Making you smile was on my to do list today,” he admitted. “And I did it.”

“Your corny antics won’t work on me,” she chuckled before looking out the window. Her cheeks actually burned from his words. She cringed at the fact his words affect her at all. So she changed the subject, although it wasn’t the best way to do so. “Damn it, I think I may have sand in my underwear.”

“Need help clearing that out?” He asked.

“You’re gross too!” She hit his arm. Their day out went according to his plan, after Shinhye gave clear directions to her home, she arrived about the same time she normally would. She got out of his car and he rolled down his window to say bye.

“Had fun today?” He asked. Before she could respond he cut her off, “of course you did. You spent a whole day with me.”

She rolled her eyes letting this time go, “I did. Thank you Yonghwa.” He expected a sarcastic remark not an agreement. But what took him more by surprise was the most genuine smile she directed to him. It wasn’t her regular glare or a cold look, she looked happy. And it was because of him.

And he couldn’t get enough of it.

“Go out with me tomorrow.”

A/N: I added a new chapter! It's not from the first version and I apologize if this one is boring... I just wanted to add more fluff tbh and to show how although Yonghwa can be a , he's quite good to Shinhye. We all need to live a little~
