When You Return after Two Absences Post-Valentine’s Day

You called in sick for two days. Sick, your heart was sick. You’ve never felt this put down about Kai. It’s not like the thought of confessing ever crossed your mind because you didn’t think he had any feelings for you. But actually doing it and ending up breathing the same air as him and his new girlfriend felt so suffocating.

‘Did he notice that I was gone?’

You patted your cheeks repeatedly. “Get yourself together, _________-ah. He has a girlfriend now.”

You lazily got ready for school trying not to let anything Kai-related to take control of your head. ‘7:10 AM’, your clock blinked. Anyway, you still had almost an hour to do so. You grabbed the French toast your mom left for you on the table with a note that read ‘Go to school, dress up well and eat. He’s not going to fall for the bum that you are right now.’ You smiled at how adorable your mom w as, and made your way to school. Odd, your friends weren’t picking up their phones nor were they replying to your texts.

It was only quarter to eight when you entered the gates; and as expected, your absence didn’t mean much – or anything at all. You dragged yourself to your locker to grab your things for the first two periods and continued on to your room. As you entered the place, a wave of nostalgia hit you. Though it’s only been two days, it felt like forever – singing for Kai, having him hold you even just for a while only to have him taken away by Park Jung Ah. ‘For the last time, he wasn’t taken away. He was never yours to begin with.’ You sighed at how pathetic you were and walked briskly to your seat. You breathed in relief to see that Kai wasn't there yet. On another note, neither were your friends. “Great, even in school I’m a loner.”

“You chose to be absent.” You turned, thinking it was Kai, but it was only Sehun. “Oh, it’s you.”

“Who were you expecting it to be?” He chuckled; his eyes showing that mischievous glint.

“Shut it, Oh Sehun. Where were you guys anyway? I kept calling and texting you but none of you were replying.” You propped your chin on your hands, staring blankly ahead.

“I’m here now aren’t I?” He asked in a cute voice, cupping his face and tilting it a bit to look at you. “Fantastic, sit.” You remarked sarcastically. “Oh, I sense the green monster.” You snapped your head to him to which he only raised his hands in defense. “Where are Baekhyun Oppa and Jongdae Oppa?”

“I don’t know. They’re not replying to me either.”

“Why are you smiling like that?” Immediately his face was stripped of any emotion. “Nothing, teacher’s here. Talk later.”
