“So, for how long are you going to keep biting your nails and shake your leg?”

Jessica asked as she continued driving. She and her sister were supposedly to go to a very important dinner; a dinner filled with CEO’s, managers, stylists…anyone who was someone in the fashion industry basically.

It was the first time Jessica has been invited for the event and there was no possible way she was going to say no. This meant she was finally recognized in the fashion world as someone important, someone people should look out for. And of course, as soon she accepted the invitation she made sure everyone knew she was going to take her sister with her. If it wasn’t for her sister she doubts she would have any kind of success.

“For as long I want!”

The older sister didn’t even bother with the rash tone the youngest used. She could see she was thinking about something, something that wouldn’t leave her mind that easily, so she just ignored and continued staring at the road.

“Want to talk about it?”

She really didn’t want to talk about it. Of course not, just thinking about it made her lose her mind and want to break something. Krystal couldn’t believe that, in such a small place she would see that annoying, excuse of a man. That horrible, annoying man called Kim Myungsoo. Why was he the old man’s grandson? With so many men in the whole planet, with so many men in Seoul alone, why did that guy had to be…Sungbin’s nephew? Why? How was even possible they even shared the same blood?

Sungbin was caring, nice, had a nice, warm smile and was very intelligent. Myungsoo on the other hand was rude, idiotic, and egocentric and liked to make fun of her. No, it couldn’t be real; Myungsoo HAD to be adopted, it was the only explanation. It was the only decent, real explanation she could find.

He was so rude and the worst thing was that he tried to embarrass her in front of Sungbin and that alone was unforgivable.

Flashback

“What are you doing here little girl? See how men dress?”

Krystal couldn’t help but bite her lower lip and feel her blood boil. God that smirk was the worst thing in the planet. He was putting some kind of pressure on her and she couldn’t even look straight into his eyes.

“Do you know each other?”

The old man asked a little bit confused. His grandson just came back home from a long stay away and wasn’t introduced to anyone so he couldn’t help but find a little strange that he knew Krystal.

“We had the pleasure to meet each other a while ago.”

The old man seemed he was on cloud nine. He had so much pride for his grandson and knowing Myungsoo already knew Krystal, the girl he saw as his own flesh and blood, he couldn’t help but be extremely happy. He didn’t even care how they got to know each other, he was just happy that the destiny worked that way.

“Well, isn’t this wonderful?”

He asked with a bright smile that could light up a whole stadium.

“More like misfortune…”

Krystal whispered and the only one who seemed to hear it was Sungbin, who raised a brow, not really understanding what the hell was happening there.  He knew that his nephew wasn’t the best at first impressions, but this was a bit too much wasn’t it? Calling Krystal little girl seemed a bit too much.

He couldn’t help but feel bad for her. She looked like she was to burst into anger and scream into his face, but being the low profile person she was, she decided she would rather stay there and stay quiet.

“Krystal-ssi, do you want help choosing the tie? I’ll gladly help you while my dad keeps giving Myungsoo attention.”

Krystal could feel her mood get better instantly as she heard the gentle words coming from Sungbin. She was about to answer but then the most annoying sound in the world decided it was a good time to interrupt.

“Sungbin, you’re a babysitter now?”

Really? Did he really just asked something like that? God, it was too much. He was arrogant and annoying, what a wonderful combo. She looked to Sungbin from the corner of her eyes and couldn’t help but smile slightly when she saw his annoyed face.

“Myungsoo, that’s a bit rude.”

“She’s a ki. You should spend your time with women, not kids. It looks bad on you.”

Should she feel offended by that statement? Should she even bother to answer? Should she even bother to say anything at all?

Sungbin didn’t answer but it was more than obvious he wasn’t pleased with that answer. He didn’t like it at all but before he could answer back, Krystal stopped him right away.

“It’s okay Sungbin-ssi…I was going to leave anyway…Don’t worry about it.”

“Krystal-ssi…”

“Don’t worry. We’ll talk later, hopefully.”

She gave him a short smile and he decided he wasn’t going to fight it at all; it wasn’t worth it. Myungsoo on the other hand had a small smirk on his face and looked at her with what looked like a very, very pleased smirk. God what a kid.

“Bye little girl.”

End of Flashback

“You’re talking alone again Soojung.”

Jessica said with a small smile on her face. The younger girl woke up from her thoughts and just gave the older an apology.

She noticed the car stopped and saw her sister getting out of the car. They finally arrived the party. To the awful yet extremely important party. And she felt ridiculous in the outfit she was wearing.

Sure, it wasn’t something that was couture, but it was extremely uncomfortable. She was wearing a black dress, a pair of golden shoes and her hair was pulled back in a very tight ponytail. Her make-up artist probably went insane and decided to grab every single eye-liner she had with her and put on Krystal’s face. At least she went light with the lips!

Krystal saw a bunch of people walking towards the door and she couldn’t help but noticed there were a lot of middle aged men there. But then again, even if it was a fashion party, the people behind them were investors and the people with power.

The pretty faces were just so they could give a better image to the general public. Her sister was one of the few people who stood out for achieving her goals without needing to go to those people and beg for money. There were times both thought it would be a bit better if they did, but then Jessica would own those influential people too much and wouldn’t be able to breathe. Both left their agency and started one for themselves for a reason.

“How long will we be here?”

Krystal asked as her sister said hello to a few familiar faces and grabbed a glass of champagne. The older one fought hard not to roll her eyes. Everyone was staring at them; every single camera was focused on them. They were the new arrivals, the new fashion promises; they had to play the part perfectly without showing any kind of weakness.

“For as long it’s necessary to please all of these people.”

The youngest hated the idea of pleasing people she had no idea who they were and had no saying on her life. Why should she even care? Most of these people here were just happy on being mean and rude; it was their pass time, their hobby. So who were they to even judge? And why did they have so much power?

“Listen Soojung, I just need you to take a couple of pictures, talk to a couple of people and then you can leave. I’ll even pay for your cab.”

Well, at least her sister was feeling generous and wasn’t pressuring her to stay the whole event with her. Thank god.

“Fair enough.”

Krystal grabbed the first glass the waiter offered her and decided that if she was going to be there, at least she was going to have a little bit of fun. Or at least get really drunk and forget about everything.

She and her sister kept on walking around, talking to a few people and the more Jessica talked, the more Krystal drank. Maybe that was why she was already feeling a light buzz and feeling like nothing in the world could annoy her or make her angry. She was a happy drunk and a little bit loud; but at that point she was only feeling warm, that was it.

“Soojung, there’s someone I want you to meet!”

Krystal woke up from her happy place and looked at her sister.  She doesn’t really remember how the two of them ended up sitting on the black couch, but who cared right? At least the heels weren’t killing her anymore.

“This is Wufan. He’s the newest company lawyer. He’s new in Korea but he already has big name clients.”

Krystal looked up and she couldn’t help but open in amazement. In front of her there was this gorgeous man with black hair, pulled back, the most beautiful features and she was pretty sure those eyes could steal souls. Not to mention that he was incredibly tall and had the biggest hands she as ever seen.

“Hello. Your sister told me all about you. I can see that beauty is genetic.”

Jessica smiled at the compliment and Krystal could swear her sister was blushing. What? Jessica, the cold princess blushing? That was a new one. A new one that Krystal had to ask about later.

“My partner should be here by now…”

As he said it, a shadow appeared out of nowhere and bumped against the Adonis next to the older sister.

“WuFan! Sorry I’m late! I couldn’t find this place at all!”

Krystal’s eyes opened wildly and she could feel the alcohol coming up to so fast she could swear she was going to throw up. Did god hate her? he had to hate her, it was the only decent explanation she could find.

She saw the newest arrival bowing to her sister but as soon his eyes caught Krystal, that horrible smirk came to life and Krystal felt like she was being punched in the stomach repeatedly.

“My my…Hello little girl. I missed you.”
