Chapter 2

Never Going Back

Krystal looked around and didn’t know what she should think. She was in a small coffee shop she used to go every time she left her company.

It was close, cheap and the owners were a nice, young couple who treated her like any other person, not a celebrity and made her happy. The only different treatment they gave her was an extra chocolate cake slice in her plate, but only because she once helped the coffee shop when they were going through a bad time; she invested some money to help them and in a matter of 4months she received every single cent she had given to them.

They were innovative and always had amazing ideas and that was one of the many reasons she loved going back over and over again to that small little place.

“If they closed it would be the end of me.”

She whispered and she smiled gently and looked to her coffee. The smell made her smile and made her feel so comfortable, like she was at home enjoying a nice quiet time. And she had to take all of this in. In a matter of weeks she and her sister were going to China and New York for the fashion weeks and it was going to be stressing as always. Designers wanted them to be in the front row no matter what. She didn’t want to go, she would rather be in her apartment with her pajama, but Jessica begged her.

It was Jessica’s first time being a partner with the designers and this meant a lot to her so Krystal would make the huge sacrifice and go to those endless, annoying places that were filled with people who just wanted to show in magazines no matter what.

“God I do not want to go…”

She used to like going to the fashion weeks. She used to like them when they were about fashion themselves, not when they became a freak show where people who wanted to be famous at any cost would dress up the most ridiculous thing in the world and run after photographers so they would be noticed.

She passed a hand through her hair and couldn’t help but smile to herself. Her sister almost had a heart attack when she appeared after the photo shot with platinum blond hair. It was a shock to everyone but she liked it. It made her look different and made her feel like she was standing out.

But she has to admit, she mostly dyed her hair color to freak her sister and manager out. And it worked out exactly as she wanted, so everything ended up as she wanted. Making her sister freak out was probably one of her favorite pass times. It never got old.

She looked to her coffee again. She looked at the dark liquid and the first thing that she could think of was her dream. She couldn’t forget about it no matter how much she tried. And at this point it was starting to make her lose her mind. It made her lose complete focus when she was working and the photographer, no matter how nice and patient he was, he got to a certain point where he was getting frustrated with her. She wasn’t doing it on purpose. She really wasn’t.

All she could think of was that weird dream and that strange figure. All she knew was it was a figure from a man. That was it. Did her dream mean something? Did it mean something in her life was about to change? Did her imagination went too far and now she was burning every single brain cell for nothing? It was probably that last one because she was sure if she kept on thinking about it her brain was going to explode at any moment.

Not to mention she was still not over what was probably her sister’s meltdown. She couldn’t believe she wanted to set her up with their driver’s grandson. Not that she was against an older man or that he was the driver’s relative. She wasn’t that kind of person. But seriously? Jessica was against her dating, now she wanted to set her up? What was wrong?

“She probably drank too much coffee in the morning.”

It was probably that. It was the only explanation, she was sure of it.

“Miss….”

She looked up and saw one of the owners looking at her with a worried face. Well, maybe not worried, but she looked like something had happened.

“There’s a gentleman there…he’s wondering if he can sit with you.”

The manager paused for a while. Krystal raised a brown not really understanding the question but decided to let the woman finish. In short words, he didn’t look friendly at all.

“…There are no other free tables and yours is the only one with a free sit…”

She looked to the man that the manager was talking about and saw a man with dark hair all pulled back with an impeccable suit. He looked stern and like he was about to go into a business meeting.  His eyes looked cold and he looked like he couldn’t be bothered with anything. No wonder the manager sounded scared. He looked like he could kill just with his eyes. What was up with that?

“…Sure, I don’t mind.”

The manager gave a bright smile and went to tell the man he could sit without a problem. Krystal couldn’t help but think that the poor woman looked like someone took a huge weight off her shoulders. Was this guy some important client that they had to do everything they had to make everything in their power so he would like them?

Once he had his coffee ready he grabbed it, pay and went to sit on the chair in front of Krystal. He said nothing; he didn’t even bother to look at her. It was like she didn’t exist.  She couldn’t help but be a little bit offended. Sure she was a famous personality and wanted people away from her, but she liked when people said hi or at least thank you. She looked at him from head to toe. He was what? Probably in his 30 something. She wasn’t good at guessing people’s ages.

He grabbed his cell phone and didn’t even bother with her. He started what it looked like it was work since he looked completely focused on it. Why people were so focused on their cell phones she would never understand.

“Morn-“

“Don’t talk to me please. Just because I’m in the same table as you doesn’t mean we’re supposed to talk”

Well, wasn’t he a douche? She just wanted to be nice, say good morning and then go on with her life. But no. He had to be incredibly rude and act all important like he owned everything around him.  He looked and sounded like the most annoying, insufferable, idiotic man on the face of the planet! And she worked with idols who thought they were the best thing that ever stepped the earth.

“God who pissed on your cheerios this morning?”

She whispered as she grabbed her coffee and took a sip. She looker at the window next to her, trying to focus on the children playing outside but it became almost impossible because she was feeling watched. She was feeling like she was being watched by two piercing eyes that were almost burning her into ashes.

“No one pissed on my cheerios, why do you ask?”

She was pretty sure she whispered those words. She was pretty sure that those words were meant only for the voices inside her head, not for the man in front of her. As he placed his phone on the table and crossed his arms, he started staring at her in a way that was making her incredibly nervous and uncomfortable.

“….W…well…You sound like a very unpleasant man.”

“And you found that theory on what? Me not saying morning to you?”

“That and you making the poor manager feel like she has her life hanging by a thread.”

“And that makes me an unpleasant man? I happen to like things done my way and I do not appreciate having little girls telling me that what I do is good or bad.”

God he was getting on her nerves. He sounded like an imbecile, like he owned the right to treat people beneath him that they weren’t worth anything. Not to mention he was with the most annoying little smirk on his annoying face.

“And I do not believe an old man like you would even realize what being nice to people is. You look like you ate something rotten and your face is stuck like that.”

She saw him chuckle a little and then he allowed himself to rest his elbows on the table as he got a little closer to her. She hated when people did that, it made her feel incredibly out of place and like someone was trying to invade her personal space.

“Old man? Is that the best you got?”

He paused and she raised a brow.

“God you’re cute.”

Cute? She hated when people called her cute. Not even her parents called her cute when they found out she hated it. God, who was this man? Who was this annoying, unpleasant man who was laughing right at her face? How dared he? How dared he to do such a thing?

He continued staring at her waiting for an answer from her, but instead she grabbed her wallet, paid for her coffee and decided that the best thing to do was not to even say another thing to this man. He was already smirking, it couldn’t possibly get worst. It was impossible for such a thing to happen. She didn’t want to cause a scene, but wanted to shout at him and call him every single name on the book. She wouldn’t attract attention to her, she wasn’t going to!

“Have a nice day little girl. Hope to see you soon.”

Yeah, it just got worst.
