Chapter 4

Never Going Back

From a scale of 1 to 10, Jessica was at a 20. She was so angry at Krystal for interrupting the meeting that the younger girl was pretty sure she was going to be killed by her own sister in her sleep. But why couldn’t she let it go? It has been a week since the incident; it was time to let go, right?

It was a mistake, she apologized and now everything was good! It had to be good! But she knew better than that. Krystal knew that since it was such an important meeting Jessica was going to be angry at least for two whole weeks, if not more.

The main reason why Jessica was angry was not because they were interrupted the way they were, but because she was still fighting to be taken seriously. Not only was she a woman, which many business men thought it was cute and should never take seriously, but her age had a huge factor.

She was young, she was 27 and she was already owner of a brand and a company. People were watching her like vultures waiting for her to fail and destroy everything she worked so hard for. Any moment that Jessica showed she couldn’t control anything it meant in those men’s eyes she was weak. And Jessica hated and didn’t allow weakness.

“Still she could be a little bit nicer to me…I’m her sister after all!”

Krystal pouted to no one as she looked down to her phone. She wanted to be angry and hurt when it came to her sister but she knew the amount of pressure she was at that moment, so she decided she would just let it go and pretend nothing happened. It was the best for both of them. Not to mention Jessica wouldn’t feel pressured to apologize for her attitude.

“Soojung-ssi, where are we going next?”

Krystal woke up from her own thoughts and looked her driver. The old man was the only one person that called her by her real name. She had no idea why, but for some reason he didn’t like to call her Krystal; he would say Soojung was much prettier and a shame that she wouldn’t call herself by her birth name.

She had spent the whole morning shopping and she felt bad for the old man. She told him to leave her and go have the rest of the day off so he could be with his grandson, whom he wouldn’t stop talking about.

But he said he wouldn’t leave her alone and was happy to help her carry the bags. He was so sweet that sometimes Krystal felt bad to take advantage of his kindness. But then again, he hated to leave her alone in a crowded space. He knew how her so called fans could surround her and scare her. So he would always walk next to her and she would feel protected. He was stronger than he looked.

“Hm…I was thinking about going to buy something for my parents. My dad needs a new tie and my mom needs a new skirt.”

In reality her parents didn’t actually need those things, she just wanted to buy them. She loved to treat her parents to everything even thought they usually felt bad about it and complained that she shouldn’t spend her money on them. Her answer was always the same. If I don’t spend on you two I have no one to spend on.  With that her parents would just smile and accept everything she gave them. They knew how useless it was to fight with their daughters, they always ended up winning.

“What do you want to buy first?”

“Hm…since we’re in the man’s section let’s find the tie.”

She said as she gave a small smile. The old man smiled and grabbed the bags. They were so many she was sure he was going to end up drowning in them. She tried to take a few from his hands but he was faster than her and grabbed them in a strong grip before she could steal any of them.

“My youngest son has a really good sense of style. He’s always impeccable, but I’m sure you noticed it when you two met.”

“Does he? I didn’t really notice it that much.”

She was lying with every single tooth she had in . She noticed every single detail of his suit and how fitting it was. It was perfectly tailored, it was probably custom made; the color was perfect for his skin tone and even the tie matched the whole suit. It was perfect on him, but then again she was pretty sure everything would fit that man. God was he handsome. And she knew he was aware of how nervous he made her. That was why he kept flashing that beautiful smile, she was sure of it.

The two of them entered a beautiful, white store. It was very masculine and she noticed the suits around. It was indeed a store focused entirely to please men as they walked in. It had two small black couches in a corner next to the changing rooms and it was very bright, giving a very inviting atmosphere.

She looked around and noticed that even the employees were dressed impeccably. The two women there were wearing red lipstick and ponytails, showing off their beauty, while the man was using a black suit that was perfect for his skinny body and his brown hair pulled back. She was sure the owner of this store made sure all the employees were god like so everyone felt the need to enter the store and buy something, even if it was a pair of socks. Great marketing that was for sure.

“Welcome.”

One of the female employees said with a small smile. Krystal was sure the woman recognized her, but being the professional she was, she just gave a small smile and said nothing else. If everyone was this professional Krystal would have no problem going out, but unfortunately they weren’t. Sometimes the employees were even worse, forgetting about how to behave in their work place.

“Sorry…where are the ties?”

She asked and the woman gave a small smile making Krystal feel a bit more comfortable. For some reason she was feeling intimidated in the store. Maybe because it felt so manly.

“They are right next to the suits.”

Krystal thanked and walked towards the suits with a small smile on her face. The old man thanked as well and followed her, not saying a single word. All it could be heard was the soft, gentle music the store was playing. The amount of suits this store had was infinite. If she was a man she was going to have a hard time choosing just one.

The store was bigger than she thought, but then again from the outside she could only see the front of the store, nothing else. She walked next to a bright, glass shelf. There, to her display she saw the infinite colors and shapes they had for ties. This was going to be harder than she previously thought. She was sure she was going to find one, pay for it and it was done. But no, now she was confused and had no idea what to chose.

“So, what’s your favorite color?”

She felt a shadow over her and she was a little bit surprised but didn’t say a single thing at first. She thought it was an employee doing his job so as she looked up she was not expecting to see the man that didn’t left her thoughts for days. All she could think was a bunch of swear words that should never be pronounced.

“Sungbin! What are you doing here?”

She didn’t need to look to the old man to know he was smiling happily. He really loved his family didn’t he? Especially when they popped out of nowhere and scare people to the point they would have heart attacks. Krystal on the other hand felt her cheeks burning and she could swear she was going to pass out as soon as he flashed that smiled again. She wasn’t strong enough to take it. Her heart couldn’t take it at all. God why did he have to be here?

“I’m here with your grandson. He can be an amazing lawyer and a sweet grandson, but he does not know how to dress properly. The amount of people that thought he was 16 years old it’s almost impossible to count.”

Krystal couldn’t help but laugh lightly at that. How badly was the man dressed that people thought he was a teenager? Or maybe he loved to wear baggy clothing and that alone made him short? Or maybe he had a baby face? That was something women seemed to love for some reason. A reason that she couldn’t understand at all but then again, she shouldn’t question people’s types.

“Oh c’mon he isn’t that bad. He’s just having jetlag…”

“Dad, he’s been here for almost two weeks, there’s no way he can still use that excuse and look like a homeless person. He has to look good if he wants to impress clients…”

Sungbin made a pause and looked to Krystal. She felt her cheeks burning for some reason and tried to look away, not wanting to be in by those eyes again. Damn it he knew exactly what he was doing to her.  He gave a small smirk and continued looking at her, ignoring the fact she was purposely ignoring him so she wouldn’t make herself look stupid.

“…And a man has to be well dressed to impress the right woman, isn’t that right Krystal-ssi?”

Now he was just teasing her. She wasn’t sure if she should laugh or just look at him and beg him to stop everything he was doing. Why was he so charming?

“So, what are you doing here?”

“We came here so Soojung-ssi could choose a tie for her father, isn’t that right?”

She nodded and as she opened to speak, for the first time since Sungbin appeared. The whole situation wasn’t that bad, at least she finally knew his name. She finally knew his name and made her feel like the whole perfect man in her mind was getting better and better. She had to stop reading those romance novels. Her sister was right; she was getting a bit crazy thanks to them.

“I’m looking for something for my father, something he’ll l-“

Her speech was never finished. A low, annoyed voice was heard from their left. It was coming from the changing rooms and suddenly their whole attention was focused on the noise walking towards them.

“Hyung, why the hell did you left me alone? You know I don’t know how to knot this thing!”

Her eyes opened widely and she couldn’t even think straight. As soon she saw the man having trouble with the tie every thought of embarrassment and perfection she had about Sungbin disappeared and were replaced by shock and anger. Why was this happening to her? Why?

“Stop being a baby Myungsoo! Can’t you see I’m…busy?”

“I’m not being a baby. You just gave me the most complicated tie in the world.”

The man, or Myungsoo as it seemed, looked at his uncle, his grandfather with a small smile on his face. But as soon he saw her and the expression she had on her face, he couldn’t help but replace the smile with a smirk.

A smirk that made her insides twist. Oh she was ready to kill him. She was ready to kill him with her bare hands if she had to. She felt horrible when he moved a little closer to her and she could feel the aroma of his cologne. Yes, this man got in her nerves and she was ready to kill him.

“Hello little girl. Long time no see.”
