Confused

Love and its Opposite

Confused

It had been two months since Yoona had moved into a newly reconstructed apartment to ease her way to a company, under which she had begun her career as a recently graduated actress.

It had been two months since her first approach with Taehyung, who lived in the opposite apartment. As time passed by, the two had become significantly closer in the most natural way. The-five-year-old could have been a root for a communication barrier, however not in their case. After the very first, rather awkward encounters, the barrier had been broken.

Yoona found Taehyung refreshing in a way – yes, he did have worries and responsibilities here and there, which pressured him, but like most teenage kids, he lived his life without regrets. What surprised her the most though, was his ability to listen to her endless problems. Usually, she would avoid bringing up anything negative in order to keep a positive image. She also didn’t intend to bother anyone with her own worries.

Perhaps it was his eyes, which never left hers and the nodding movement of his head, that assured her he was interested in what she had to say. Speaking with him couldn’t resolve larger issues, yet it comforted her.

As for Taehyung, he had grown more comfortable with her presence, although the overhelming sensation of affection and admiration didn’t tone down even one bit.

Despite becoming aware of his unchanging feelings, Taehyung never made a move on her. Mostly because he knew there was no way he could stand a chance against her present boyfriend. Furthermore, he doubted she would ever think abut him differently than as the adorable neighbor.

Soon after meeting Jungkook and Jimin at their school and Yoongi at Wendy‘s party, Yoona had met them all together during their band practice. She had ditched her car, choosing to walk there with Taehyung leading the way.

Her one-time visit resulted into numerous nights spent in a dim lit garage, watching the boys both cooperate and argue as they turned Yoongi’s self-composed songs into a live show. It

They would ask for her sincere opinions, finding her observations and ideas useful in many cases. She got well with everyone. She earned even more respect from Taehyung, because of versality. She could speak about anything with anyone and Yoongi, who was especially bad at mantaining friendships, seemed to favour her as well.

Taehyung often listened to their conversations cautiously, which they would held during the rest time. Coincidentally, those two attended the same university, but had never met before as they majored in different areas. Besides her laughing at his sarcastic comments on the uni teachers, they would talk about the purpose of entertainers and dive into deep topics.

Taehyung was jealous of Yoongi from that aspect.

But when the practices were over, they would be alone again. They would return to the apartment complex together, walking side by side through lonely streets. They would often stop in their tracks to sit down for a night snack, both indulging into hot packaged ramens inside an empty convenience store with an elderly ahjussi staring at their backs with a content smile, living in a false imagination that those two were dating.

That boy would convince her to climb up the high ladders to admire the night view of Seoul from the roof of private buildings. He would help her to climb ober the fences to invade into uninhabited buildings she would never go alone. He always switched her adrenaline mode on.

On different days, when he carried skateboard along with him, she would always insist on him teaching her how to ride on it. After a few seconds of pretending hesitation, he would agree and hold her hand gently, his other hand on her back, steading her as she stepped on the board.

She would giggle for a long time as her legs couldn’t help but wiggle uncontrollably on the skateboard. The grip on his hand would tighten as she would push off gently. The air around them was always filled with laughter.

Yoona scratched her neck as her tired eyelids painted with a shade of sparkling brown were hanging open, glued to the screen in front of her. She had been wearing a white, floor-length dress the whole evening and despite the dress being incredibly beautiful, the sequins decorating the dress were starting to iritate her skin underneath it. It was a present from Sanghyuk, she had received it through a courier last week. Later that day, he called her to inform her about going somewhere exciting next week, which happened to be tonight.

The exciting place, as she found out later, was a fancy dancing ball, which was organised by a few CEOs of smaller entertainment companies. The guests varied from actors, to comedians, to managers.

Although it was never officialy called like that, everyone were clearly aware of the event being just a big opportunity to build bonds with individuals from different areas. It was like going to a crowded market, where everyone tried to promote their own products.

She was suprised by how many faces Sanghyuk had already known, calling their names and walking over to almost every person on the ball.

Yoona was accompaning him everywhere for a half time of event, when she spotted a familiar group, which she had met them recently at Wendy’s party. She excused herself to go talk to them, which must have surprised Sanghyuk, she could tell with the expression of his. She had never left Sanghyuk’s side before. Nevertheless, he just nodded at her and let her go have a small talk with the unfamiliar group.

When the time reached 10pm, Sanghyuk decided it was time to leave. The couple bid goodbye with a few entertainment executives Sanghyuk thought were relevant and after that, they drove back to Yoona’s apartment.

They then switched on an two-hour-long korean movie set in the Joseon dynasty, cuddling on the sofa. Sanghyuk had complained about not spending adequate amount of time with his girlfriend and watching a movie together was part of his compensation.

Yoona stretched her arm out to reach for her phone. With a simple push of button, the screen lit up. It was half past eleven. She was about to turn the device off, when she noticed a recent message from Taehyung.

‘Noonaaa,‘ was the only word he sent a few minutes ago.

‘Yeah? Do you guys need a pick-up from the club again?‘ Her shoulders quivered slightly under Sangyhuk’s touch, laughing inwardly. She had just remembered a night, when Taehyung went clubbing with his bandmates.

Jungkook, being a competitive boy, made a bet about who could handle more shots of vodka. But of course, meanwhile Yoongi was staying unaffected by the alcohol so far, Jungkook was in a much worse state. It was amusing to watch impersonating Iron Man, half mumbling, half shouting the famous lines. His cheeks were flushed pink and burning as Jimin stated, when he touched them.

But that was nothing until he walked over to the dance floor and started flirting with one certain girl, apparently mistaking her for Jieun, a senior girl from the school he had been eyeing for one whole year. As much as attractive he was, no one could deny how uncomfortable it must have been for the girl to be called a different name.

Taehyung ended up calling Yoona that night to pick them up.

Taehyung seemed to hesitate with a choice of words or whatever, because he had been typing something for a minute. Yoona switched her phone off and put it down beside her on the sofa.

„I need to use bathroom,“ Yoona lifted her head up to give her boyfriend a kiss on a cheek, before standing up. He just looked at her with a smile, his hand unwillingly unwrapping around her soft body. She opened the door on the left side from TV, leaving the main room.

As soon as Yoona disappeared out of his sight, Sanghyuk grabbed her phone, unlocking it. His hand suddenly halted, his conscience blocking him in doing a next action. But the curiosity was only growing bigger with each passing second – he couldn’t help himself, but find out, with whom she had been texting.

He wasn’t dumb, he had seen the corners of twitching upwards as she fixed her gaze towards her phone. He had also registered a male name on the screen, which had caused his hands to start sweating. He hadn’t seen Yoona for a few weeks and while it was typical for long-term couples to distance themselves naturally, he still couldn’t get rid of his doubts about her.

Even after getting together, Yoona still kept on being confessed to and hit on by other guys. And although he believed he carried better qualities than any of them, it still bugged him.

She was his girlfriend, was it that hard to get the message? He wished she had spoken up about her involvement with boys more. He wanted her to be bothered by the fact, that there were constantly pairs of lustful eyes preying on her. He wanted her to defend herself by saying that she only belonged to him.

That’s why, when Sanghyuk read the message sent by a guy named Taehyung, he had to use all his willpower not to text him.

‘Never ever mention that anymore!‘ stood in the phone, ‘I suffer every time I imagine that idiot trying to that poor girl, ugh. I was going to ask you if you are free on Sunday? If yeah, let’s go to Lotto together! The more people, the bigger discount haha.‘

The more people, the bigger discount. How shameful. And why the heck was he talking about ing?

His ears were lucky enough to have registered the sound of door clicking before he could do anything else. He swiftly threw the phone away and adjusted himself into a more comfortable position.

Yoona returned to his place with a smile, intending to lay down beside him. But before she could do so, he grabbed her waist and made her sit on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck intuitionally to stable herself. Her eyes were round and full of excitement.

„What are you doing?“

Instead of getting a proper answer, he pulled her head closer to him, closing the gap between them. His lips started molding against hers fiercely, taking a breath out of Yoona. She soon responded back, her mind filled with a black fog.

„You knew we were going to do it later on, didn’t you?“ he whispered into her ear, the lustful gaze not vanishing yet, in contrary, the pupils seemed to widen even more in his brown eyes.

On that night, Taehyung was left with a small gash of disappointment. She had clearly read his message, but was probably too exhausted to reply.

Two days later, Yoona appeared in Taehyung’s apartment.

She was currently leaning against the wall, framed photos of Taehyung’s family above hanging her head. She was waiting for him to finish packing things to get ready on the way to Lotto.

“So who’s all going?“ she asked rather loudly for him to hear as he was in his bedroom.

„Yoongi’s not coming, he hasn’t even started with his assignment, but the deadline is until today. Don’t feel sorry for him, noona, I don’t think he would be close to as excited about roller coasters as we would,“ a finished sentence was followed by the sound of bag zipping. Taehyung walked out of the bedroom, a bag hanging over his shoulder.

„So it’s just you, me, Kook and Jimin,“ he patted her on the top of her head, his big hand then moving to the back of her head, gently leading her towards the entrance door.

„Oh, I almost forgot. Sana will join us too.“

„Who’s that?“

„Ah, a friend from the neighbouring class.“

Heading from far away towards the bus stop, where the group had the meetup, Taehyung spotted two familiar shades of hazelnut brown and platinum blond. Jungkook and Jimin were so easy to recognize.

„Here they are!“ Jimin stood up first, waving a tour direction.

After greeting one another, Yoona looked around with a puzzled expression, „The girl is not here yet?“

„Sana? She texted me she’ll be here in a minute,“ Jungkook said. Just as he finished the sentence, a mellow shout was heard behind his back. The group adverted the attention towards the owner of the female voice.

„Sorry for coming late!“

As she was making her way over to the group hurriedly, Yoona scanned the young girl from top to bottom swiftly. Her medium auburn hair curls were bobbing loosily over her petite shoulders. Her soft features were enhanced with a touch of make up. Yoona quickly assumed that Sana must have been a very likeable, good-mannered girl.

When she finally joined the circle, Yoona couldn’t help but find her height difference with the boys cute as her head was only a little above Jimin’s shoulders.

Just as she was apologizing profusely for coming last, Taehyung put his hand on her shoulder, chuckling. „Don’t apologize, you are here on time.“

Their eyes locked as he comforted her. It was hard not to notice the way the girl was affected by his touch and calm voice – by Taehyung in general. Yoona hid the unstopable grin by her hand and a little turn to the side. Was this a sign of a new young love?

„Ah, Sana, this is my neighbour Yoona. Yoona, this is Sana from our school.“

Everyone’s gazes lay upon the two females, which exchanged smiles, followed by Yoona intinating a handshake, which Sana accepted quickly.

The empty bus with a LED sign 316 Lotto showed up, accompanied with a noisy sound of engine. Everyone got in and anticipated until the bus reached its last destination.

The event in the amusement park turned out pretty differently for Taehyung. When Sana asked him, whether she could go along with them and he agreed nonchantly, he didn’t imagine that she would be so clingy onto him. So far, whenever they tried an attraction, she would choose to sit beside him, following him closely. He didn’t intend to sound like a douche so he remained silent, but deep down he felt jealous of Jungkook.

He seemed to be having a great time with Yoona, talking with her most of the time. And although Taehyung knew Jungkook wasn’t thinking about Yoona in a romantic way (heck, he wouldn’t try to flirt with his friend’s crush), he couldn’t help but feel tiny jealous about him winning all the plush toys from the games he won effortlessly. At least two pairs of hands would have been occupied by holding the plush toys, if Jungkook hadn’t left them behind at the stall. One for Yoona and another one for Sana was more than enough.

„Woah, look at that, noona!“ Jungkook exclaimed enthusiastically, pointing at the roller coaster at the right side from them. Taehyung turned to Yoona only to see gaping in a rather cute way.

„It’s so steep! We must try that one!“ She clutched onto Jungkook’s shoulder and both of their faces lit up. None of the others could comment something before the two child-like ran over to a short queue for the roller coaster. Only a few people were apparently willing to ride up the dangerous roller coaster.

Taehyung sighed and followed their path. However, he noticed that Sana didn’t follow him as usual, making him turn around suspiciously. His eyes opened slightly, when he met her hands grasping her hands together in nervosity. She was biting her upper lip, hesitating on what to say.

The whole group had tried all the attractions together, but with this, Sana didn’t feel so sure about. She was just probably frightened.

„We don’t have to go if you don’t want to, Sana. Don’t force yourself into anything,“ Taehyung said.

Sana’s eyes brightened for a second, „Taehyung, will you-“ her sentence was suddenly cut off by Jimin’s exaggerated yawn.

„Ahh, I don’t wanna try that. I and Sana will wait for you guys here,“ Jimin’s face remained blank as he made a step closer to Taehyung, whispering into his ear, „Get some time with Yoona. I can tell from your face how much you are longing to talk to her.“

The blood rushed into Taehyung’s now rosy cheeks upon hearing the words. At the end, he chuckled and patted Jimin’s back, whispering a small ‚thanks‘.

„We’ll be right back,“ he told Sana, who could only nod and follow Jimin to sit down on the nearest unoccupied bench.

Unfortunately for Taehyung, when he turned around, he spotted that Yoona and Jungkook had already made their way to the front of the queue.

He quickly excused himself through the now short queue as he tried to desperately catch up with them, but one insistent couple suddenly held him back, complaining about his rude behavior.

The risen voice of the man had caught even Yoona and Jungkook’s attention as they turned their heads towards the direction. As soon as Yoona got a grasp of what was happening, she made her way over to Taehyung, apologizing swiftly on his behalf. She then grabbed his wrist, pulling him towards the end of queue.

Jungkook could only watch the whole situation helplessly as he had already fasted himself on the seat.

„Sorry for not asking you before, I honestly thought you didn’t have enough guts to ride that roller coaster,“ Yoona looked at Taehyung with her eyebrows scrunched together, making perhaps the most irresistable expression of hers Taehyung had ever seen in combination with the pouty lips of hers.

„It’s okay. And thanks for saving me before.“

Yoona laughed at his serious tone of voice, „No problem. They were so fussy! I jumped out in shock, when they yelled at you.“

„So, that girl Sana. Are you guys a thing?“

„No, how did you even come to such a conclusion?“

„Excuse you, she’s definitely after you!“

„But I don’t feel anything for her.“

„Don’t deny it, „Yoona nudged his shoulder and winked at him, „She looks cute, although she barely talks… Perhaps she’s too swooned from your presence,“ she giggled, enjoying the teasing a little bit too much, but telling the truth as well.

Taehyung frowned, breath gushing from his nostrils. „Is that why you haven’t spoken to me since we came here, Yoona? Because you didn’t want to interfere me and Sana?“

Yoona nodded her head steadily.

„Yeah, I was even thinking that it could have been better if you two seperated from us. You looked quite awkward not being able to start a proper conversation with her. And did you just call me Yoona? That sounds weird, since you’ve been only referring to me as noona recently though.“

„Calling you noona…“ Taehyung strained his neck forward so that his lips almost touched her skin, his hot breath fanning against her ear, sending shivers all over her, „Calling you noona only makes things more complicate.“

He had no idea, what all of that was coming from. Whether the reason was her teasing about Sana, that provocated him or the temporary jealousy of Jungkook, it didin’t matter.

His feelings couldn’t be reciprocated, he was very much aware of that, but all Taehyung seemed to care about at that moment was to vent his feelings out in some sort of way.

„I want you to see me as a man.“

Yoona’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. Although the soft words that echoed in her head left a big confusion in her head, they didn’t half as much as effect as the tender kiss on her head.

The kiss was tender and lasted mere two seconds, only getting in touch with her hair, yet it seemed so intimate.

„Taehyung…?“

They eyes were locked, none of them daring to look away. But there was such a contrast, meanwhile Yoona’s eyes were wide-open and seeking for substantiation, Taehyung’s eyes were dark and utterly still. Why was he giving off such a gloomy vibe?

Yoona’s hand was about to hesitatingly cup his cheek, when the staff worker ordered them to move forward. The two returned to the present time again. They got in the vagon, sitting next to each other. Her heart was beating fast and blood was rushing through her veins, but she knew it was only partly caused by the ride.

During the ride, Yoona was screaming her lungs out. She needed to vent everything out.

In a blink of the eye, it was all over and the passengers had to leave the seats to make space for the others. Taehyung, being the one closer to the small stairs, handed her his hand confidently. It was a small gesture, completely innocent. So without many thoughts, Yoona let him hold her hands and guide her out of the vagon.

„Noona! Taehyung!“ A male voice shouted after them. Jungkook ran after them, his face upset and displeased.

„You left me alone, noona, why are you so crude to me,“ he complained.

„Sorry, Kookie. I had to help Taehyung out,“ she said in defense. However, as her tongue rolled to pronounce his name, her voice lowered a tad bit. Despite Taehyung pretending that nothing weird had happened between them, the scene was still very vivid and as confusing as ten minutes ago in Yoona’s mind.

As they were ambling away from the roller coaster, they noticed Jimin and Sana heading towards them.

„How was it, Taehyung? I would never dare riding such a high roller coaster, you are so cool,“ Sana complimented the boy with her eyes sparkling all over him. Jungkook snickered in the background, considering that she had only praised Taehyung even though he and Yoona had been on the attraction as well.

„Right, Sana!“ He put his arm around her and she squeaked out of the sudden contact. „Taehyung is seriously so brave, if you want a personal guard, he’s the way to go! Did I also mention that he can be incredibly romantic with girls?“

„Stop it, Jungkook. Sana is just a friend.“

Jimin nudged Jungkook and put extra power into it, because he also thought that Jungkook had gone a little overboard, especially when Taehyung’s crush was around.

Jungkook could just seal his mouth and look away with a bad conscience.

As for poor Sana, her efforts had been crushed with a mere sentence. She had gone to Lotto World just to spend a day with Taehyung, the boy she had been keeping an eye on for three months since the day she had transferred into the new school. She wanted to get closer to him, totally intrigued by his charms, but he was so absent-minded today, it made her feel desperate.

Yoona gulped. He had been acting so strange, nothing made sense to her. She stared at him, searching for answers, but his eyes were glued to the ground. Suddenly, the phone started ringing in the pocket of her coat. She picked it up, surprised by the name on the screen. Wasn’t he busy right now?

„Sanghyuk?“

„Where are you right now?“

„I’m at Lotte World, why, do you need something?“

„Lotte World? What’s good in there? And I suppose you didn’t go alone?“

„I tried many fun attractions here, there are many adults as well,“ she said, as if convincing him that he would have loved the place as well and added, „and I went with my friends. You haven’t met those yet.“

A long pause followed. Then he finally said, „Anyways, are you still planning on staying there? I’m returning from a press conference and I was just thinking about seeing my lovely girlfriend right now, can I?“

„You are so extra today… And no, I think we are heading out now. Are you going to pick me up?“

„Yeah, wait for me outside, okay? I’m nearby.“ What would he be doing near here? The press conference was on the other side of the town, wasn’t it? But she didn’t want to burden her head anymore and chose just to finish the call with a sweet goodbye.

Yoona’s face lit up as she pointed at a man leaning against the car, dressed in a light blue shirt, sleeves rolled up to the elbows, „He’s here already!“

Her pace quickened as she was making her way towards her boyfriend, the others following her hesitantly. He pulled her into his arms and only then looked over to the rest of the group, his hand not letting go of her waist.

This as the first time Taehyung had seen Sanghyuk’s face. He had a strong jawline and his black, sleek hair was pushed up to the sides. His white skin had no flaws, probably concealed by make up artists.

She introduced each another quickly, Sanghyuk was keeping a smile all along, but when it was Taehyung’s turn, the grip around her body tightened. The small, almost invisible act itched Taehyung’s sight, but he could do absolutely nothing. He could do anything he wanted with her, because she was his just like he was her.

At the end, everyone bid a goodbye with the couple to head to the bus stop. But for Taehyung, he couldn‘t the urge to glance at them one last time. But he regretted it as soon as he did so. Sanghyuk was leaning down, pulling Yoona into a long kiss. It was as if the kiss represented their relationship itself. Steady and on going.

Taehyung shuddered for a second, when their eyes met. The younger boy had to advert his gaze immediately. The sly smile he sent him was disgusting. He couldn’t bare watching a girl he liked being marked by someone else.

Author's note: this is so far the longest chapter I've ever written omg. I'm pretty satisfied with the results, anyways I'm sure there are some typos and grammatical mistakes, so please bear with it! Hope you liked this chapter and please comment down below! :)

Chapter 9: As for Taehyung it breaks my heart he's a strong one. Even if he's hurting. I just hope he doesn't use Sana as an outlet. As friends its okay but if he's trying to forget it'll only hurt both of them in the long run.

Chapter 9: I know you this story isn't completed or you haven't updated in a while (writers block is understandable), but I just came across this story and decided to read it anyways and I really love the struggles. Yoona struggle within her own relationship but chooses to stay in the relationship because its familiar and safe. Scared of changes. However there's a point in a relationship were its both having to give themselves to their partner. Although Sanghyuk gives to Yoona. At some point in their relationship he probably stops giving on a personal level. Yes he care but he seems to forget you sometimes have to given in to the other partners needs and wants. As Yoona gives herself to Sanghyuk she loses herself. It doesn't seem like their in the relationship 100%. The pairing of Yoona and Taehyung is unique. I love that they can connect despite the age difference. Although I would like Yoona to give Taehyung a chance I would rather have them together when she feels like she can commit and isn't in the relationship with Sanghyuk. I hope she can later see that she's staying in the relationship for the wrong reasons.
