        Chapter 5: An Unexpected Yet Horrible Surprise

 

 

  They stopped when they saw Seungcheol glaring at them with his hands in the pockets of his pants. Students in the classroom could feel the tension between the three of them and they started to take pictures of the scene. Seungcheol titled his head to a side with a poker face as he started to walk toward Young Mi and Jisoo. He stopped, only glaring at Jisoo. Young Mi felt uncomfortable with the situation. She opened to say something when Seungcheol cut her off.       -       “ Move, I have to go to the bathroom “. He coolly said.       Young Mi and Jisoo glanced at each other with confusion in their eyes as they moved to a side so Seungcheol could pass. Seungcheol hummed and walked away of the classroom. Students started to shoved their phones away, disappointed that there won’t be a big fight between the two leaders.       -       “ I have to go somewhere. See you later, okay? “. Jisoo said.   -       “ Sure “. She nodded and received a pat on her arm from Jisoo before she headed toward her desk.       Jisoo smiled and turned to Ji Hoon, motioning him to follow him. Ji Hoon nodded and walked out of the classroom along with Jisoo.   Students began to whisper again while glancing between Young Mi and the door.       -       “ Yah! Lee Young Mi “.       Young Mi turned her head toward to where the shout came and she saw Hyerin running toward her with widen eyes.       -       “ Yah! Why didn’t you tell me that you were dating Jisoo? “. She blurted.   -       “ I’m what? “. Young Mi blinked as she titled her head to a side.   -       “ You are in all the school’s website articles! Look! “. Hyerin showed her phone to Young Mi.   She snapped it away from her hands and started to scroll down the screen.       -       “ Yah! That’s not true! I barely know him! “. Young Mi cried out as Hyerin took her phone back and sat next to Young Mi.   -       “ But there is evidence that you and Jisoo are dating! “.   -       “ Just having pictures of me and Jisoo walking in the corridors doesn’t mean that I’m actually dating him! “.   -       “ Then were you secretly dating? “.   -       “ Hyerin-ah! “.   -       “ Okay, sorry! I just wanted to clear things out “.       Young Mi sighed and rubbed her face with her hands before running them through her long hair.       -       “ This is insane… “. She whispered.               In the other hand, Seungcheol arrived at the men restroom and relaxed his cold expression as he heavily sighed.       -       “ I mean why? Why must she walk with him, huh? I’m more handsome than him, I’m more talented than him… Why must she be with him? Since when did they start dating?! I mean, it’s not like she likes him, right? Aish, bull! “. He kicked one of the toilet’s doors and ruffled his hair in frustration.   Just then, a random boy entered in the restroom and Seungcheol glared at him.       -       “ Get out! “. He yelled. Frightened by his shout, the boy quickly walked away of the restroom.   -       “ Aish! “. He started to throw a tantrum while whining like a baby.       Just then, his phone started to vibrate.       -       “ Now who is it?! “. He whined as he pulled out his phone.               Call:

Mom       Accept                        Reject            He sighed and then rejected the call.   - “ This totally isn’t my day “. He said and stormed away from the restroom.               Classes have finished and it was time to go home. Everyone dismissed from the classroom as Young Mi and Hyerin were the only ones left.       -       “ Ow~ “. Hyerin pouted after seeing her phone.   -       “ What’s wrong? “. Young Mi asked with concern.   -       “ My mom… she said that I should attend to a formal party my dad was invited. Jesus, I hate going to formal parties. There will be old men instead of hot guys “. She pouted and crossed her arms.   -       “ You and your illusion for boys “. Young Mi chuckled while shaking her head as she swung her backpack over her shoulders. “ Then we won’t get a shake then? “. She asked with a pout.   -       “ I guess not “. Hyerin sighed. “ Tomorrow? “.   -       “ I can’t. I need to help my grandma with the laundry shop “.   -       “ Fine. Then on Friday, okay? “.   -       “ Okay “.   -       “ Then see you tomorrow! “. Hyerin waved at her before leaving the classroom.       Young Mi giggled and walked out of the classroom, walking quietly in the empty corridors. As soon as she arrived at the exit door of the building, her phone rang. She pulled it out from her blazer and checked on the ID number.

Seungcheol       Accept                        Reject        -       “ Tsk… “. She rejected the call and she was about to shove her phone back to her blazer when she received a message. She glanced at the screen and frowned.       Seungcheol: Are you really going to reject my call? Where are you?           -       “ Aish this guy… “. She then started to type.                       Young Mi: Why are you asking that when you don’t know me? -.-               She waited for him to answer, and immediately she received his answer.               Seungcheol: Just answer my question!           Young Mi groaned as she rolled her eyes.            Young Mi: At my house, happy?                   Then she received another text and her eyes widened in shock.                       Seungcheol: Then what are you still standing at the school entrance ?           She looked around and saw Seungcheol coming out from a corner with one hand in the pocket of his pants and the other one waving at his phone. Young Mi scoffed by the view as she let her hand fell on her side while glaring at him.           -       “ What’s with that large face? “. He coolly asked.   -       “ What are you doing here? “. She asked, ignoring his question.   -       “ We have to go to eat ice cream “.   -       “ What? “. She scoffed. “ I will pass, you go and eat an ice cream by yourself! “.   -       “ Have you forgot? You own me an ice cream, remember? “. He said as he arched an eyebrow.   -       “ What are you talking- “. Young Mi cut off her sentence as she recalled the memory.               ~ Flashback ~       - " Since it's our last day, let's make a bet. If you think I'm not that good in playing the guitar, I will treat you with ice cream from the market ". Young Mi said.   - " If I think you are good? ". Seungcheol asked.   - " You treat me with ice cream ".    - " Call ".       ~ End of the Flashback ~               Young Mi mentally cursed as she glanced at Seungcheol, who was smirking at her.       -       “ Still… I won’t eat with strangers like you “.       Seungcheol scoffed.       -       “ What? “.   -       “ You said to me earlier that I’m a stranger to you. Why would I eat an ice cream with an arrogant and cold stranger like you? “.   -       “ Excuse me, we KNOW each other! “.   -       “ Have you forgot your own words? You said yourself: Do I know you? Why do you keep following? “. She paused. “ Do me a favor… and get lost “. She whispered the last part as she lowered her head.       Seungcheol stayed in silence as he regretted for saying those words to Young Mi.       -       “ Young Mi, I- “.   -       “ I will prefer eating ice cream with the Seungcheol I met a week ago rather than the Seungcheol I’m looking right now “. She finished before walking away from him, leaving Seungcheol dumbfounded by her answer.       Now he regretted for saying those words to her, but what can he do at the moment? His friend wouldn’t mind if he’s friends with Young Mi, but how about the rest of the students of their school? They might be think it’s weird that a guy like Seungcheol is friend with an average girl like Young Mi. He was about to follow Young Mi when a crowd of girls surrounded him.           “ I’m sorry, Young Mi-ah. I truly am “.               -       “ I came from school “. Young Mi said as she closed the door of the laundry shop behind her and headed toward the counter where her grandma was ironing a shirt.   -       “ Oh welcome! “. Her grandma greeted her with a smile. “ How was school today? “.   -       “ It was okay like always, nothing new “. Young Mi replied with a shrug and placed her backpack on the counter. “ And Chan? “.   -       “ He went to deliver some clean clothes “.           Young Mi nodded in response as she looked around. The laundry shop was a really small shop. It was the size of a normal bedroom. It only had two laundry machines and a griddle. But still, it managed to work well.           -       “ Young Mi-ah “. Her grandma called.       She turned around and faced her grandmother.       -       “ You must be tired, you should go home and take a rest “.   -       “ I’m fine. I should be the one saying that. Do you not want me to take care of the shop while you take a rest? I bet you haven’t eaten lunch either “.   -       “ I just ate a triangle kimbap. That’s enough for me “.   -       “ Grandma! I told you to eat enough for a day! Not for two hours! “. Young Mi complained as she grabbed her backpack. “ Stay here, I will buy you something to eat “. She said before she walked out of the shop.           Young Mi headed to the nearest convenience store and looked for something proper so her grandma could eat.           -       “ Why is everything so expensiv
