"How could you do this?"
One-shots“How could you do this?”
He didn’t want to. He begged for anything else to happen. A miracle. Anything. Anything but this.
But it was no use. It was already too late.
“I’m sorry.” were his last words.
The light brown orbs flashed once, and then turned blank.
*
“One day, if I expire, will you still love me?”
He tightened his hold on the gentle form in his arms, and placed a kiss on the soft brown hair.
“Don’t be silly. You’ll never expire if your program is still functioning.”
The younger was not satisfied with this answer.
“So you won’t love me if the program malfunctions?”
He chuckled. “I will never stop loving you. I promise.”
*
He froze in the middle of the room, unable to comprehend the sight before him.
He came back.
He came back.
What had he done.
“Hyukkie! Happy birthday! Did you miss me?”
Tears- uncontrollable tears started to pour down his lifeless eyes. His throat was so choked he could not utter a single sound.
Instead, he fisted his fingers in his hair and squeezed his eyes shut, trying to ignore the agonizing pain that had started to seep out from his heart.
*
It was nearly his birthday, what should he do for him? Donghae browsed, bored, through never-ending pages, until he abruptly stopped when he found the perfect answer.
"Disappear for a day and surprise him."
*
Where was he?!
He had searched everywhere, called everyone, but he was nowhere to be found.
He fought the urge to cry as his legs paced mindlessly around the empty house. Was it something he had said? Did he do something wrong?
Donghae was smart- and what’s more, in their world the lack of natural environment was compensated by the safeness that surrounded them. So he couldn’t be in danger.
Then where was he?
His mind failed to come up with a reasonable answer. Alternatively, memories of a repeated question the robot had mentioned these few days started to play.
“Will you still love me if I was a girl?”
“Will you still love me if I grew old?”
……
“Will you still love me if I loved someone else?”
His body tensed up at the last sentence.
No, this could not be it. This was not what had happened. It was impossible.
Yet there was no other explanation.
With shaking hands, he opened the program that contained the other’s life. If he reset the system, he would come back. He would come back to him. He wouldn’t be the same, but he’d still be Donghae. His Donghae.
Right?
Yes. That was the way. That was the solution.
“Warning: you are about to reset the entire life of “Donghae”.
Are you sure you want to continue?”
There were so many tears pooling in his eyes it was difficult to distinguish the cold letters on the screen, but he managed to find the little box he was aiming for.
He clicked.
“The uninstallation has started. Remaining time: 9 minutes.”
This was the answer, but why was his heart pounding so excruciatingly against his chest?
end.
A/N:
