chapter 17
apocalypse II"Ouch!" Mir winced when his right cheek was pinched. He rubbed the reddened flesh. "What was that for, hyung?" Mir hissed.
"You're day dreaming. I keep calling you like eleven times already." Byunghee rolled his eyes.
Mir sctratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I did?"
Byunghee nodded. "What were you thinking about?"
Mir smiled and put back his blade into his boot. "Nothing much." The boy replied simply.
Byunghee sighed. Even after a year. Even after all those times they spent together, Mir still won't share much with them. The kid was clearly distracted and have problems. But the younger just kept it to himself. He sometimes wondered whether it was because it was just Mir's personality or it was because of Mir didn't trust them and took them as family like he was hoping for. He hoped it wasn't the later.
However, one more thing still bother him. "Mireu..." He called softly. Mir's wide dark brown eyes met his own black charcoal orbs. How much Byunghee hoped he could read those eyes. How he wanted to know what was in the younger's mind.
"I'm sorry, hyung." Mir cut Byunghee off before the older could say anything. Byunghee cocked his brows. Mir smiled. "For running off again yesterday. You were worried, weren't you?"
Byunghee sighed in disbelief. How could Mir read him like an open book. It was unfair. He felt Mir's cold hand on his. Mir's slender fingers curled around his hand.
"Hyung... You know what, I never tell any of them what I told you." Mir added barely above whisper so only both of them could hear. He stole a glance at Joon who was sitting on his other side. The older seemed distracted as the boy looked out of the car window. The other two at the front seats were engaged in their own conversation oblivious to the one Mir and Byunghee was having.
"Mir..." Byunghee replied Mir's hold on his hand, frowning at the coldness of the smaller hand. "Do you still see him?" He asked, lowing down his voice to that of a whisper. His eyes shone with nothing but concern.
"Sometimes..." Their gaze broke off as Mir's eyes looked into a distance.
Byunghee bit his lips, afraid what he would say next might hurt the younger. "You know he's gone." Byunghee saw how the younger flinched and felt how Mir's hold on his hand tightened. "Even if you see him, you can't just leave us and run off to him. You're putting yourself in danger by doing that."
"I know..." Mir sighed in defeat. "But, it's not something I can control." He closed his eyes and leaned back in the seat. Images of Sanghyuk's last moment with him flashed back in his mind. He felt warm tears rolled of his cheeks and a hand wiping off those fallen tears. "I'm sorry..."
