INFO: How to keep your werewolf
Life BloodA couple of things about my werewolves that I felt I needed to clarify in this story. I might add stuff to this chap in the future.
General
Werewolves age as humans during their first 19-20 years, until their wolf comes of age. After that, they age as werewolves, where 500 human years = 10 werewolf years (Jaejoong & Yunho are 519 years old, look 29, etc)
Mating season
- Heat/mating season is 3 months, usually during spring/early summer. It last from full moon to full moon, with the exact days fluctuating slightly from individual to individual, but never more than a week.
- Werewolves can - and do - have outside of this period, but offspring can only be produced during mating season.
Carriers
- Carriers in general have special status, since they're the ones who bring the clans forward. The more carriers in your clan, the higher the status of your clan.
- When carriers mate with a non-carrier, they like to bite their mate, for various reasons. 1) Intense pleasure far beyond the average , 2) to mark the non-carrier as their own/claim power over them, 3) to form an almost unbreakable bond to ensure that they stay around in case of an offspring, and 4) to bestow breeding rights to that mate for the rest of that mating season. This puts carriers in a position of great power, since they "imprint" themselves on their partner, who can't do the same in return. There is also severe risk for bitten non-carriers who are somehow left by their mates to lose their minds and go clinically insane. As a result, it is considered good manners for a carrier to only bite their mate if they are in a committed relationship. To imply that someone bites "too easily" or "too quickly" is equal to shaming in the werewolf community. A non-carrier with great mental strength can force or trick a carrier into biting them, thus stealing the breeding rights. This usually happens during , or is compared to , and is considered one of the worst taboos. The punishment is instant excommunication, and by extention, lawlessness.
- Carriers must at some point become pregnant and give birth to an offspring with their destined mate. The sooner the better, or they risk their mental and physical health, and even their lives.
Hierarchy
- There is a strict hierarchy of who gets to address who. Usually you can't speak freely to someone of another clan if said person is of a higher rank than you. For that, you'd need your Alpha's permission (or an emergency situation). This law exists to prevent blackmail and abuse of power, and comes from the Old Days (300-1000 years ago) when power wars were common. Not even an Alpha can address the Omega of another clan without express permission from the Omega's own Alpha. For practical reasons, King Clan can speak freely with everyone.
- The King Clan is chosen via a council of all the werewolves in any given district, to avoid power fights. This law is also from the Old Days.
- When a couple forms across rank, the couple takes the highest rank. For example: Yoochun is Beta in Star Clan. Junsu was Omega in Winter Clan. Yoosu became the Beta pair of Star Clan.
Alpha and Omega
- Alpha has breeding rights to Omega, but must give those rights away when the Omega finds their destined mate.
Destined mates
- All werewolves have a destined mate. Each destined couple consists of one carrier and one non-carrier. If a person does not find their destined mate within a thousand years from their first heat, they risk their mental and physical health, and could even die. When a werewolf finds their destined mate, the person starts to shimmer like gold ^_^ Sometimes, you can know a person for centuries and not realise, and sometimes, timing .
