All I want for Christmas
LUCYLucy was in class, coloring pictures of a Christmas tree and presents as the teacher read a christmas story to them. This was her favorite holiday. It was a time to share love and joy with your friends and family. Mrs. Lee finished the book and then gave everyone a piece of paper to write on.
"Now kids, we are going to write Santa Clause a letter. You will tell him how good you have been this year and ask for one present you really want for Christmas." Mrs Lee explained. Lucy thought long and hard on what she wanted. She thought about new toys, or movies even new books but something was out weighting the rest. She looked down at the piece of paper and began to write.
"Dear Santa Clause,
I have been a good girl. You can ask my Appa! I havent been in trouble at all. So this year I was hoping you can do something different. My appa has not been married and I dont have a omma. So instead of a new toy or a book I would like to have a new omma by having Appa marry Unnie! Unnie's name is So-eun and she is really nice and pretty. I think appa would like her to be my omma. Thats all I want for christmas. No toys, no books or movies. Just for Unnie to be my Omma!
Love,
Lucy"
At the bottom of the letter she drew the three of them holding hands infront of a christmas tree. Mrs Lee walked around the class to see what each child was writing to santa. She came to Lucy's desk to see the letter. She quickly overlooked the words to find the word Omma. She knew her situation and could see why this child was asking for an Omma. She had not had a mother figure in her life since birth. Now Lucy was asking a for what would be an impossible request.
Yunho was out shopping for christmas presents for Lucy. He knew he didnt have much money to overly spend for christmas but he wanted to get a special gift for Lucy. He searched through the toy story looking at dolls. He looked at them all. Some were baby dolls that sang, some cried. There were some you could feed and some that could crawl. All of them were different but nothing stood out to him. He looked at books, seeing that he had bought Lucy all the books she really wanted. He really wasnt sure what to get her. Then he spotted a beautiful play house with furniture and dolls. It was a family living together in the doll house. He looked at the price to find it was way beyond his limit to spend. He knew that would be the thing to get her but he couldnt afford it. He found the doll could be sold separate. He picked up the appa and the little girl, smiling at how she could play with her dolls. He reached for the Omma before he stopped to realize that maybe that would make her feel sad for not having an Omma. He decide not to get the Omma and left with only the two dolls and some change of clothes for each of the dolls. He hoped that this was enough for his little girl.
Today Donghae decided he would give Yunho all day to go shopping for Lucy's christmas gift as he would pick her up from school. Donghae could see that Lucy was standing next to her teacher, waving to him as she was so excited to see her Oppa coming to pick her up from school. Donghae smiled seeing the happy smile on Lucy's face. He adored this little girl like she was his niece. He looked at the teacher who waved him over. He wasnt sure what he was needed for but he decided to find out. Mrs Lee invited him into the classroom while Lucy played in the play area.
"Thank you for coming in to talk. I was hoping Mr. Jung would be here but I know you are on the list of contacts for Lucy." She exclaimed.
"Is there something wrong?" He asked, not sure what was going on.
"Nothing wrong. Just concerned!" She stated. She handed him the letter to santa from Lucy. Donghae took the letter and began to read it. He could see where she was concered since Lucy was asking for an Omma, but not just anyone. So-eun. He sighed, looking at Lucy as she was playing by herself as he thought about the possible disapointment in her eyes if she found out that Santa didnt get her what she asked for. He aslo thought about what Yunho would think or say if he read the letter to Santa.
"I see now! This is...." Donghae couldnt think what to say.
"For a child to understand relationships can be hard for them." She explained to him. Donghae held his head down low, not sure how he would handle the situation. He now understood just a small bit Yunho had to go through rasing a child. It was a diffcult decesion for his friend to deal with.
"Dont worry Mrs. Lee, I will handle this. Thank you for telling me." Donghae thanked her. He called Lucy over for they were now leaving. Lucy skipped to Donghae, taking his hand as they left the school. Donghae held the letter in his other hand, debating on what to do.
"Oppa! We need to mail my letter." She stated. He turned to her and smiled.
"Your letter to Santa?" He asked.
"Yes or he wont know what to get me for Christmas." She explained.
"What did you ask for?" He asked, pretending he didnt know.
"I asked Santa for an Omma!" She stated. Donghae sighed before he kept up with the conversation.
"An Omma! Is your Appa and Oppa's not enough?" He asked half joking. Lucy shook her head.
"No, thats not it. I want an Omma not just for me but for Appa too." She explained. Donghae looked at her, seeing how angelic sweet words she spoke. It wasnt just for her. It was for Yunho as well.
"I want Appa to marry so he can be happy and I can have an Omma so he wont have to worry so much." Donghae could see what she was thinking and understood how she felt. All the guys hoped that Yunho would soon meet someone who would be a great Omma to Lucy and a wonderful wife. So-eun was the obvious choice but for a relationship to last it took time and Yunho and So-eun were still only getting to know one another. Donghae knew he would have to talk with Lucy.
"Well Lucy do you know how long it takes for two people to fall in love?" Donghae asked as Lucy looked at him confused. She shook her head as she waited for her oppa to answer.
"Well for two people to fall in love, it can take a long time. Some maybe a year, others it may take a few years." He began to explained. Lucy was understanding but she was starting to feel sad. Donghae quickly respond so to change her feelings toward the situation.
"Did you ask santa to have Appa marry someone like So-eun?" He asked. She nodded. He smiled at her.
"Well I think Santa must have known that you would ask for an Omma. Thats why he had your Appa meet So-eun!" He told her.
"That mean she will be my Omma?" she asked. Donghae shook his head.
"No, cause that would be too early. See they still have alot to learn about one another before they become...... boyfriend and girlfriend." Donghae thought about the words to use. Lucy listened carefully to her oppa.
"So they have to be boyfriend and girlfriend first?" She asked.
"Yes and then after so long Appa will have to propose which I am sure you will be a big help with and then they would have to plan a wedding and then you will have an Omma!" Donghae explained. Lucy thought about it and smiled.
"Ok, I will wait." She stated. Donghae smiled as he was happy he could explained to Lucy about Yunho and So-eun in a way she would understand. He wasnt sure if So-eun would ever join their little family but he was hoping that Lucy's wish would come true.
