And Here Comes The Storm

The Office Life of BTS

"Uhm... Tae... what the hell do you think you're doing?"

Taehyung was lying face-first on the ground with his chair toppled over beside him.

"Not much." he replied, his voice muffled by the carpet of his office floor.

Jimin put his hands on his hips. "I leave for one second to retrieve some documents and you manage to nearly trash your office... amazing."

He sat up. "It was more like half an hour..." he whined.  "I got bored."

Jimin lightly smacked his forehead with the papers. "Whatever. I have to get back to Yoongi now, don't destroy the entire building."

Taehyung and Jimin were in the same year of college and joined the company together nearly a year ago, since they needed a part-time job to support themselves. They were the known 'frenemies', as they were extremely close... yet they fought more than a dog and a cat. However, they did make up easily, but would get into another petty argument in less than a minute. This was both annoying and distracting to both themselves and all their coworkers.

"Hey!" Tae complained as he took the sheets from Jimin. "Don't mess with me again or I'll tell Min Swaga about your little crush on him!"

Jimin whipped around faster than Taehyung could even blink. "Don't you dare speak to your hyung with that tone!"

He growled. "Or what?"

Jimin narrowed his already slitted eyes. "I'll tell Namjoon about your secret ramen stash that you're not supposed to have on office grounds!"

Taehyung gasped, completely dumbfounded. "But it was completely hidden!"

"Stuffing around thirty bowls of instant ramen in the back of the fridge isn't called hiding it." Jimin said snidely. "And you scribbled your name all over them."

Taehyung pouted. Jimin pouted more.

After two minutes or so of intense pouting Jimin turned around and slammed the door.

"Yah! I told you not to slam the door!" Taehyung screeched after him.

In the office next to Taehyung's, Seokjin sighed and slammed his face onto his keyboard.

Those two were always so loud and bickering almost 24/7... it was almost as if they were an old married couple.

Seokjin had already been assigned with the task of translating a Mandarin passport document into English, and he couldn't focus with all this racket next door... no wonder this office was unoccupied. Not to mention, "Hopie" and Jungkook were in the cubicle room, and it was equally as loud there, with them playing intense rap on their phones and jamming out. The only time they would be quiet was when Namjoon went over to check up on them and made sure they weren't burning the office down or something... which was once every hour or two.

He stared at the almost-empty Word document open on his desktop in desperation. He needed to get some work done or he could be potentionally fired. (Which actually wasn't a possibility. Seokjin was a necessity in the company, since he was the only one fluent in Mandarin. Hoseok was also good at it, but his grammar was lacking.) He set his fingers down to continue typing when a loud crash was heard from next door, making him jump.

"Alright..." he exhaled heavily through his mouth. "This is the last straw."

He stormed out of his office and into Taehyung's. "What in the world do you think you're-"

He stopped suddenly when he saw Taehyung splayed on the floor, with his chair on the carpet behind him. There were papers scattered everywhere and pencils and pens alike spilling all over the place.

"...doing...?"

The lavender-haired boy looked up and grinned. "Hi Seokjinnie hyung~"

Seokjin felt uneasiness rush over him after hearing the nickname Taehyung made up.

"I got bored and I was spinning around in my spinny chair," -he gestured to the fallen chair- "...but then I spun too fast and fell."

Seokjin nodded, looking at the mass destruction in the office. There were several dents in the walls, and even a patch that was taped up with dinosaur-patterned duct tape that appeared to be covering a hole. Taehyung also had a small shelf that was filled with minifigures from various animes and volumes and volumes of manga crammed into whatever space was left over. There were candy wrappers both in and out of the trash can, and chip bags stuffed under the desk that was covered with multicolored stains of some sort.

By now Taehyung had scrambled to his feet and was picking up his so-called 'spinny chair'.

Seokjin sighed. He couldn't bring himself to yell at such a playful, childlike boy.

"Just try to be a bit more quiet, okay? I have a document to translate, and I can't focus with you... uh..." he looked at Taehyung who was spinning around again. "...spinning around like that."

Taehyung stopped himself with his feet. "Oh. Sorry."

He rubbed the back of his head. "I mean, you can play around a bit, just... don't be so noisy, okay?"

Taehyung sat up straight and nodded. "Yes, Seokjinnie hyung!"

And with that he started spinning again, but more slowly.

Seokjin sighed and walked out, feeling at least ten times more tired than he was when he walked in. He just couldn't handle this kid.

Meanwhile, on the second floor, Jimin straightened his tie as he waited at his cubicle. Yoongi was supposed to teach him about formatting legal documents today, as that was something that he was expected to know later on. Jimin was just a translator, he didn't do any of the document-type stuff. He just translated Korean to English or vice versa and sent the finished words to his hyungs to format.

...However... Yoongi was already ten minutes late.

Jimin impatiently pressed the spacebar to wake up his computer as the screen darkened, and glanced at the clock.

Maybe Yoongi was dozing off again?

But he didn't really like people to bother him... especially when he was napping... but it was time for his lesson! Jimin stood up and went out the door, heading for Yoongi's office. He sighed as he stepped in the elevator. Yoongi's office was several floors away... he's going to pay for making him come all this way to fetch him.

He opened the door to his office quietly and peeked in. Yoongi was... snoozing, as expected. He was slumped in a chair that seemed to engulf him. Literally, he was sinking into it.

Jimin leaned over him, watching him breathe for a minute, before gently tussling his rust-tinted hair.

"Yoongi hyung~ do you know what time it is?"

He groaned softly in reply.

"Hyung~ It's 4:43 PM."

Yoongi cracked open one eye. "Seriously...?"

Jimin smirked. "You were supposed to meet me at the cubicles thirteen minutes ago."

He rubbed his eyes, sat up, but bumped his forehead against Jimin's by accident. Jimin backed away in response. Yoongi didn't seem to notice as he sleepily squinted at the clock on the wall.

"Huh. It is 4:43."

He yawned and slowly stood up. "Well, let's get to the cubicles, then."

And with that he went out the door.

Jimin reluctantly followed behind him, scowling a little.

Soon enough, they were at the cubicles, and Jimin was typing away on the keyboard.

Yoongi tsked. "No, not like that. If you're going to make a chart, you have to make it thinner."

Jimin grunted and adjusted it.

After a couple minutes the redhead reprimanded him again.

"You can't use that font, Jimin. Just use a sans-serif font."

He glared. "Is this not a sans-serif font?"

Yoongi put his hand over Jimin's on the mouse and clicked. "Aish... just use Arial."

Jimin sighed and continued typing, and ten minutes sluggishly went by without a word, but then...

"Jimin, why do you type so slow? You'll never get this done by the end of the block."

The sharp-eyed boy clenched his fists. "I'm trying, okay?"

Yoongi sipped his coffee (that he had gotten within those ten minutes). "Well, try harder. You're going to have to do this stuff on your own soon so you better shape up. Chop-chop, Jimin."

Jimin puffed out his cheeks and resisted the urge to yell at him or pin him down and punch him, and continued typing away, fingers making harsh clacking noises on the keyboard as they went.

Sometimes he wished that he never signed up for this job...

"Hey Namjoon?"

"Hm?"

Hoseok and Namjoon were sitting at the same table in the empty cafeteria, eating a small dinner.

"Whaddya think of the new guy?" Hopie asked, his mouth full of sandwich.

Namjoon twirled his salad fork. "He's fine. At least he actually gets some work done around here and doesn't spend 99% of their time goofing off."

"Hey! No we don't. We spend over 9000% of our time goofing off!" Hoseok declared, ing his meal up into the air.

The CEO facepalmed.

Hoseok sat back down and took another bite. "But I wonder why such a big business guy like him is working with us at such a tiny company."

Namjoon poked at his salad. "His dad is friends with BigHit's CEO."

"Ah," he replied. "I see..."

Namjoon put his salad down and stood up.

"I'm not gonna be eating here tonight. The cafeteria's food tastes like dry leaves and cardboard."

Hoseok waved his sandwich after him. "Seeya later!"

And with that, Namjoon went outside into the rain and opened his umbrella...

...only to have it rip and collapse onto itself when he did so.
