December 31st. Seoul still covered in ice - like a frigid, concrete jungle. Cafés are always teeming with people this time of the year, all trying to escape the winter chill and warm up a little. I remember that day, when the three of us planned our vacation at Jejudo.

"Jejudo looks amazing at springtime. Just imagine, being surrounded by flowers on it's full bloom. I want to there at that moment!" Kyungsoo said.

Baekhyun just nodded to agree. Going to Jejudo was a good plan for vacation, it'll keep their minds off the hustle and bustle of the city (and the deadlines for the reports he has to finish).

"I'll come with you, if you let me model on your photos, Baek." Minseok said then wiggled his eyebrows. The other two chuckled.

The three discussed further how their vacation should turn out. They finally reached a decision a few minutes after. "Alright then, we'll leave on first week of the new year!" Xiumin clapped his hands. "Boy, am I excited!" Kyungsoo added grinning like a madman.

They finished their coffee and headed out to get home early. It's New Year's Eve after all.

"5:08PM, just a few hours to go and we'll be welcoming the new year, you guys have any plans?" Kyungsoo asked after he checked his watch. "Mom called everyone to celebrate at her house this year, so I'm booked tonight." Minseok replied. "Jongin and I are meeting up later, hey how bout you Baek?" Kyungsoo asked the boy who has busy taking photos of the street light. "Hmm? Oh, I don't have plans really. I'll sleep this one out." Baekhyun answered then took a photo of Kyungsoo.

"You sure bout that Baek?" Xiumin said. "You could with me and celebrate with my family, omma would be glad to have you there." he added wrapping his arm on the younger's shoulder.

"Nah, I'm good. You guys have a good time though." Baekhyun replied tapping the older's shoulder.

The bus stopped right in front of them. He waved goodbye to his friends. "Happy New Year, you two!" he greeted, smiling at the two before he turned his back and boarded the bus.

"Poor Baekkie." Kyungsoo said shaking his head, he felt sad that his friend is alone spending this occasion, what made him sadder is that the younger tried his best hiding from them that he is broken inside.

"Come on now, we don't wanna keep him waiting." Minseok broke the silence and they went to meet Jongin.

Baekhyun stared blankly at the window, buildings and people passed by.

He put on his headphones to get his mind off of things.

♫♪ saranghaji malgeol geuraesseo, jeong juji malgeol geuraesseo, butjapji malgeol geuraesseo... wae ireohke na honja apa? ♫♪

He started tearing up to the song. *this was his favorite*

Since that day, Baekhyun was never really happy. Sure, he laughed and smiled when he is with his friends but he never really felt anything inside. The cheerful and bubbly him was all a facade to a shattered Baekhyun inside.

Since he left with Baekhyun's heart, everything felt numb and nothing made him happy.

Baekhyun was... lifeless.

There goes the first chapter of this fanfic.

If you guys don't know, my old account 'kimkerby' and the other BaekYeol fic "When Dreams And Reality Merge..." there got deactivated for some reason. (I literally cried when my logins where no login working and the fic was wiped out).

Good news is - I still have the draft saved. So I'm gonna spell-check and grammar-check that baby and repost it here. I'll do that anytime within the week. :3
