Paradise

Sunggyu heard his name being called over and over again. He didn't know who was calling him, he didn't recognized the voice. He just kept hearing his name being called in a tone of desperation, like the world was ending, and that was something that he wasn't used to. “Sunggyu....Are you listening to me?” He heard. He tried to open his eyes, he tried to speak, but the more he tried the worst it got. He couldn't say or do a single thing. His whole body was heavy and sore. He didn't know what was happening. Darkness was surrounding him and when he tried to raise his arm, he could feel like something was stopping him from move. He tried to turn his head so he could see if there was someone next to him, but nothing.

Was he alone? Was he all alone again? Had darkness finally took over him? Had his body finally allowed itself to fall so deep he couldn't get up ever again? “If you hear me, open your eyes.” He heard the voice again, but this time it was a different one. It was a very calm, neutral voice. It didn't belonged to the same person that had been calling him for a while. Sunggyu tried to answer, he tried to say he was listening to everything but instead he just felt his body heavier than what already was. He closed his eyes and took deep breaths. He could feel his heart beat incredibly slow, something that scared him, but at the same time, he could feel an incredible state of peace, something he hadn't felt in a long time.

When he opened his eyes again he saw the darkness all around him, but this time, there was something completely different there. He started seeing a small light far away. Even if it was far, he could feel how warm, how safe it was. Sunggyu looked down and he saw his legs moving on their own will. He continued walking, not knowing what he was stepping on. He couldn't believe that his once sore, heavy body now felt lighter than a feather. It was like his body was heavy as air itself. He never felt so light in his own life. The more he walked, the closer he got to the light. He raised his arm to touch it. It felt so warm, so perfect...all he could do was smile. He could feel tears running down his face. It was happiness...he was finally home, where he belonged.

Woohyun didn't moved. He continued looking at the man on the bed. He didn't cared about his injuries, he didn't cared that if he moved too much his stitches would open. He didn't cared that the doctor ordered him to go to his own room and rest. He didn't cared he had just been hit by a car. And he didn't cared that he would be stuck with a huge scar from his back to his leg for the rest of his life. He just wanted Sunggyu to wake up. He just wanted him to open his eyes and say he was alright. “Please...wake up....wake up!” Woohyun said, his voice a little desperately. He didn't know what to do. It had been 2days and the older man still hadn't opened his eyes. How could this be happening? The one who got hit by the car was Woohyun, not Sunggyu. Woohyun protected Sunggyu, but in the end, both of them got injured.

He grabbed the older man's hand and kissed it. “Please...wake up...” He tried his best not to cry, but the tears just started running down his face. He couldn't help it. He had already lost Sunggyu once, he couldn't lose him again. He wouldn't be able to handle it. “See? I'm here....I'm here...I won't leave...” Woohyun felt his vision go blurry with his tears but he couldn't stop it. He continued crying and he didn't know what else he could do. “Don't leave me....I beg you, don't leave me...” Woohyun closed his eyes, not being able to stop his tears. He didn't want to lose Sunggyu, he didn't want to imagine a life without him. He couldn't die. He had lived all those years thinking what could have been his life if the two of them were still together, what would happen to them. Would their dreams and goals come true? Would they become famous singers? Or would they settle for normal life? Maybe they would even travel the world together....Maybe just good things would happen to them.

He couldn't lose Sunggyu, he just couldn't.

A loud bip was heard. Woohyun raised his head worried and when he looked to one of the machines next to Sunggyu, his heart stopped. “HELP!” Was the only thing he could shout. He couldn't say anything else. He could feel his wounds hurt him but he didn't cared. He continued screaming and the pain inside his heart got even worst. “HELP! PLEASE HELP!” He shouted again, never letting go of Sunggyu's hand. The nurses entered the room and when they saw the screen of the machine that was allowing them to know what was Sunggyu's state, their faces went pale. That wasn't a good sign. “What's happening? Why isn't he breathing? What happened to him?” Woohyun asked but no one answered him. Instead they started moving in the room as the speed of light and Woohyun couldn't help but be even more confused. No matter how many times he asked what was going on, no one would answer him.

The doctor that was with them wasted no time and asked one of the nurses if she could take Woohyun outside. When he heard this, Woohyun held Sunggyu's hand even tighter. “No! I can't leave!” The nurses tried to make him leave, but the more they tried, the more he would hold Sunggyu and he would shout he wouldn't leave no matter what. A male nurse new Woohyun was desperate, but he also knew Woohyun couldn't stay there. He grabbed the weak man and took him out of the room. Woohyun started fighting. He started kicking the nurse and started crying and shouting even louder. “NO! You can't do this! Let me be with him!”

Woohyun's voice was full of pain and despair. He didn't know what was going to happen to Sunggyu. “I've to be next to him! Please!” He was begging at this point, but when the room door closed, he entered in panic. He started hitting the glass window, he tried to look inside, but all he saw were a bunch of people surrounding Sunggyu, his Sunggyu doing god knows what. “Sunggyu! Sunggyu!” He called. The more he did, the more he cried. He couldn't lose him. He couldn't lose him. His life felt completely empty without him once, he couldn't lose him again. He wasn't strong enough.

He continued hitting the glass window, trying to make the doctor and nurses look at him, but when he saw them stop moving, his heart stopped. What was going on? What was happening there? Why did they stopped? Why were they all looking to Sunggyu? Woohyun started panicking. What was wrong? Why did they stopped? “Nam Woohyun?” He didn't even noticed the doctor in charge had left the room. His face was pale, his expression wasn't making Woohyun relax one bit. On the contrary, it was making things worst. “How's Sunggyu? Is he alright?” He asked and he saw the doctor press his lips together, forming a thin line. “...I'm sorry...we tried everything...” The doctor paused. “but he was really weak and...I'm sorry, but Kim Sunggyu passed away...”

Everything became black. He couldn't see a thing. Woohyun felt like he was about to throw up. This time it wasn't Sunggyu's dad who said it. It was a doctor...and he saw the whole thing. He saw Sunggyu pass away...right in front of his eyes, and he didn't do anything to stop it. He didn't protected Sunggyu like he promised. He lied. He was nothing but a liar. “No....this can't be happening...” He whispered to himself. The doctor placed a hand on his shoulder but he pulled away, crying even harder than before. “NO! I won't allow it!” He raised his head and he saw two nurses leaving the room with Sunggyu's body. He ran towards it but wasn't able to go closer because two male nurses stopped him. “Let me go!” He shouted so the whole hospital could hear. The nurses continued walking with Sunggyu's body, ignoring the scene.

“SUNGGYU!” He shouted. Sweat and tears were running down his face and his heart was beating so fast he could swear he was going to have an heart attack. He passed his hand through his face and took a deep, long breath. “What...what was that?” He asked himself. He looked around, feeling his whole body shacking. There he was, on his room, the lights out and the only thing he could see were his hands. He was so distracted he didn't even heard the door open violently. “WOOHYUN! Are you alright?”

He looked up and he saw a very worried man looking at him. He moved a little from his bed to give space to the man and continued breathing slowly. “I'm alright Hyung...it was just a bad dream...” Woohyun whispered to himself. With the help of the moonlight, he looked to the older man. “If you need me, just call me okay? I'm in the living room with the others.” Woohyun smiled and caressed the other man's face. As he did it, he couldn't help but wonder one thing. “Hyung...were are your scars?” He asked and he saw the older raise a brow in confusion.

“Scars? Woohyun, I never had scars....” Woohyun started biting his lower lip. “It's probably your fever talking. Just keep resting and if you need me, just call me. I'm in Dongwoo's room so you can rest better.” He didn't even remembered he had a fever. He saw the older man smile and leave the room they shared. When the door closed he could feel fresh tears on his eyes. He stood quiet and still in his place for a while, and didn't do a thing. He could feel cold sweat running down his face and body. He was shacking so much he was sure something bad was going to happen to him. “Was it all....just a dream?”
