WINTER

Charlotte aligned her empty boxes near the door so she could throw them away when she had time.

Mia, Lucy and Alex, her roommates, where on the living room watching TV already. Lucy was sleeping with her head over Mia’s lap, hanging open. No one could believe she was the older one if she acted like that all the time.

“I’m going to make some coffee. Do you want some?” Charlotte asked her friends and now roommates.

They met over the internet in a forum about their favorite kpop group – SHINee.

Since all of them wanted to live in Korea one day they decided to follow Charlotte steps, who was studying there at the time, and go live with her. Soon they moved to a bigger apartment, when Lucy and Alex arrived.

Mia nodded not taking her eyes away from the screen where SHINee was singing. 

Charlotte moved to the kitchen and started preparing the coffee when someone knocked on the door.

No one moved in the living room so she decided to go open the door.

A guy wearing a tracksuit and with reddish brown hair stared at her.

“Hi…I’m your neighbor downstairs…”

“I know!” she remembered him. He was the one who helped her the first time she visited the apartment.

“I think the mailman was confused. This is yours I believe!”

He showed her a letter that she quickly grabbed.

 “Lee? Right?”

“Yeah!”

“Thanks a lot!” She beamed at him before closing the door.

Charlotte walked back to the living room. Lucy was rubbing her eyes and Alex was making fun of her saying that she drooled.

“I can’t believe this!” Charlotte almost screamed, her hands shaking while she stared at the words on the letter.

“What’s wrong?” Alex asked.

“I got a job! I’m going to teach English at a primary school!”

“That is so good Charlotte!” Lucy said stumbling up.

Mia was quicker and hugged the maknae.

“We are so proud of you!” Alex added.

Charlotte watched how her friends encouraged her to keep trying and she couldn’t wait to start working.

New adventures were waiting for her.

SPRING

Alex stared at the white ceiling above her. After celebrating the good news with Charlotte everyone went to sleep.  However, Alex was having a hard time falling asleep.

She looked to her left where Lucy was sleeping, her rhythmic breathing giving her away. How could she sleep all th

e time?

Alex rose up on her bed ready to grab her phone and play around on twitter for a while when she noticed the door of the balcony open.

It was probably Lucy. She loved to go there and stare at the cat of the neighbor downstairs. 

She used to throw small crumbs of bread to the grey cat that always seemed to thank her with a mew. Lucy never saw the owner of the cat, but Charlotte said he was called Lee or something similar.

Alex walked to the balcony, her bare feet getting cold with the difference in temperature.

She watched the few cars going by on the street below.

She was finally where she needed to be; South Korea, where all her dreams would come true. She wondered which ones though. She couldn’t decide in one dream to accomplish. She didn’t even know where she wanted to work. Her father was paying her living expenses while she supposedly looked for a job in engineering. Instead she was looking for a part time job while she decided what to do with her life.

The cat meowed from below and Alex smiled at him. The animal stared at her curious and after realizing that it was not Lucy he ran away. Lucy had a thing with animals; maybe because she was also a weird creature.

Alex giggled wrapping her arms around herself and looked to her right, to the balcony of their neighbor. No one ever saw the man. Charlotte said he was weird and rarely left home. The ones who saw him said he was super handsome and very young but none the less, very strange.

Alex liked to play detectives. Sometimes she liked to read books with Lucy and try to find out who was the murdered. It was fun! So stories like that intrigued her. Alex walked closer to the edge of her balcony and stared at the other side.

Her neighbor balcony was pretty empty. There was only a big carpet on the floor with some weird blue stains.

Alex wrinkled her nose and stared at it for a few seconds wandering where those stains came from. That’s when she heard a noise and a hand opening the door of the balcony from the other side. He was coming out.
Quick as a gazelle she run inside her own room; her heart beating as much as if she was inside a horror movie. She giggled, caressing the spot where her heart was. Why was she scared like that? Alex couldn’t help but notice his chubby fingers. They were cute….

Lucy moved on her sleep and Alex closed the door of the balcony returning to her bed.

SUMMER

 Mia grabbed her books from the table and left the classroom. There she was in Korea at University just like a normal student. Ok, she was not exactly a typical Korean. For instance she was a foreigner, studying to improve her Korean, and she was still searching for her dream job…but besides all that she felt Korean.

She only needed a typical Korean lunch at the cafeteria and it would be as if she was Korean all along…half Japanese too; since she loved the Japanese culture also.

She stopped by the canteen staring at the menu for the day. Mia wasn’t sure about what to eat so she took her time reading Hangul.

She had almost finished reading when someone bumped against her. Her books fell to the floor and she ducked picking them up quickly. The person who bumped into her helped her and she looked at him to thank him.

He was the most handsome Korean man she ever saw and she couldn’t help but open , no words coming out.

He smirked, his plump lips making her even more speechless. His brown hair neatly combed and his perfect blue shirt made him look like a character out from a manga…the ones she liked to read.

“ah..ah…”

He grabbed her arm helping her rose up, the teasing smirk never leaving his face.

“Arigato!” Mia blurted out making him laugh. It sounded so melodious that she never heard anything so beautiful. His eyes disappeared into thin lines making her heart explode into tiny sparkles of dust. WOW….Who was he?!

“ahhh….I’m not Japanese!” he answered back confused.

“Sorry….” Mia said trying to put her act together. She knew he wasn’t but for a moment he was a manga character. “Thanks for helping!”

“I wouldn’t have to if you were not standing in the middle of the way!” he retorted coldly.

His image before her eyes changing quickly. So he was the arrogant, cold prince type!

 “They put the menu here so people can read it. You must have big arms if you can’t move around the room without bumping into people!”

She smirked at him and moved to the line of the cafeteria ignoring him.

The handsome Japanese manga character stared at her back annoyed.

Who did she think she was to talk with him like that? Didn’t she know who he was? 

FALL

“Hey…sunshine where are you?”

A mew answered back and a pair of green eyes stared up to where Lucy was leaning over the balcony of her room.

“Do you want something good to eat? Mia baked a cake!” Lucy split the cake on her hand and threw the crumbs into the balcony under hers.

The cat quickly grabbed them one by one eating making Lucy grin satisfied. Sunshine was her friend. She wasn’t sure if the cat was a he or a she but she named it Sunshine.

“Hey!” a voice of a man said from the balcony where Sunshine was and Lucy crouched down hiding. She was almost caught by him. “What are you eating?” he asked softly to the cat and Lucy held her breath. That must be Lee, the guy downstairs that Charlotte mentioned.

Lucy couldn’t help but be curious and she tried to peek at him. She only saw is reddish brown hair and his blue pants.

She hid right away when he stared in her direction.

“YA! You are the one giving food to my cat! Who are you?”

Lucy covered her head with her hands and tried to think about an excuse or something to say.

“YA! Are you a fairy or something?” he asked with an upset yet amused tone.

“Yes…” she answered back without noticing.

“Oh really?” he chuckled. “Show yourself! Cat fairy!”

“I’m not a cat fairy! I’m just a normal fairy!”

“Really? Then show yourself…” he insisted looking upwards so he could see Lucy if she tried to peek at him again.

“What is the name of the cat?”

“Kimchi!”

Lucy laughed out loud making him smile.

“Kimchi? Really?”

“Yes. He loves to eat!”

So he was a male all that time. Sunshine was a boy and named Kimchi.

“Now it’s time for the fairy to say her name!” he stated curiously trying to see the face that belonged to that voice.

Lucy didn’t want to give her name so she panicked.

“Alex…My name is Alex!” Alex was going to kill her if she knew.

“Alex…” he repeated confused. The name didn’t seem to match the voice. “Isn’t that a male name?”

Lucy chuckled knowing that if she was really Alex she would be upset right now.

“No! I’m a very normal girl….”

“Glad to know!” Lee said from the balcony below.

He didn’t say anything else and Lucy sat on the floor and leaned her head against the wall.

Her phone rang from inside her room and she quickly stood up and run to it leaving Kimchi owner talking alone.

It was her boyfriend. Max wasn’t actually her boyfriend. He was more like her crush since she saw him for the first time five years ago. She was shy and only after one year of devoting all her life to him was she able to tell him what she felt. He wasn’t the relationship kind of person so they never dated openly. Yet she treated him like her boyfriend. There was only two people she devoted her life too, her idol from SHINee called O. and Max.

“Alex fairy you shouldn’t feed Kimchi….” Lee said from the balcony below waiting for the answer but Lucy was already busy listening to Max talk about his problems at work and how much he needed someone to go to his apartment clean the place.
