Chapter 06: Saturday

A Week With Mi

Saturday

That Saturday morning I packed my homemade lunches into my backpack and provided a couple of water bottles in case of dehydration. I decided to take Mi for a hike and let her see the beautiful view around this country side of Seoul in a higher location. I couldn’t help smiling to myself thinking of how I get to spend the whole day and tomorrow with her. When I got to her front door Mi was already dress in the right attire waiting for me in front of her house. I couldn’t help but chuckle seeing her all ready.

“Don’t you dare chuckle Taecyeon, I wasn’t waiting for you that long.” She spoke walking past me as I follow suit.  Our walk up the hills wasn’t hard, by the time we reached the top four hours had only past. Checking my watch it was only one in the afternoon. Sitting on the bench I handed a bottle of water to Mi who took it gratefully engulfing a huge amount of water. I couldn’t help but watch as a small smile spread across my face.

“What? Is there something on my face?” She asks noticing me staring at her as she wipes her face. Shaking my head I look out into the beautiful view beholding before us. “Nothing you just look beautiful when you drink water.” Hearing what I said made Mi blush before smacking me with her water bottle onto my chest. Yelping a little I grabbed onto my chest pretending to be in pain as she couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.

Our walk back down the hills was easier than going up and after this little trip Mi and I talked more. She was comfortable with me again and I finally got to see the actual side of her. She was an odd woman, talking about the weirdest subject there was. But I love hearing her talking. Her voice was so warm and sweet like honey. It felt like you were coming home.

“Mmm Taecyeon what’s your last name?” Mi asks when we finally reach our last hill to walk down.

“Ok.” I answer as she tilts her to the side.

“As in O.K.?” She jokes smiling as I laughed. Her smile, I was waiting for that and I finally got to see it. “Anyways how old are you?” She asks switching the topic.

“I’m twenty five this year.” I replied back as she nods her head.

“Mmmm you’re my “oppa” then.” Hearing that I tisk at her.

“Ehh my age isn’t that far apart from you.” I teased making a face as she laughs.

“Yeah you’re right and calling you that would be weird.” She said between her laughs. Our conversation continued on as we made our way back to her house. By the time we got there it was already eight at night. Walking her back to her front door the both of us were silent.

“So I guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.” I spoke as she kept quiet. “Good night Mi.” Turning around I was about to leave when Mi grabs me gently by the arm.

“Why don’t we go out for a drink? Just for an hour and that’s all?” She asks as I raise one of my eyebrows taken by surprise. I couldn’t say no, I wanted to spend as much time as possible with her during this weekend.

As the both of us settle down in our chairs outside of a korean grilling restaurant Mi quickly order some food and soju drinks. She looked at me with a smile as I smiled back.

“I hope you don’t mind I’m starving. Your little trip up those hills was not easy.” She jokes as I laugh lightly from her sudden change of mood. We talked throughout our food and drink as I completely forgot about the time. Spending time with her seems like an eternity and I never wanted it to end. We finally had to leave when the restaurant signal it was closing time.

“Mi we have to leave now.” I said getting up from my seat grabbing my backpack.

“Mmmmm I don’t want to leave.” She replies back with a pouty tone. She looks at me half squinting with her cheeks flushing a bright shade of pink. Then pointing at me she spoke again slurring her words, “I don’t want to go home.” I chuckled seeing her drunk. Wearing my backpack in the front I carried Mi home on my back. She was light for her height and slim figure. As she wraps her arms around my neck and made herself comfortable on my back she snuggles closer to me. After walking in silence for a few minutes she began rambling to herself in a slow whisper.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry Seungri.” She whispers out as her voice began to quiver. Then I heard the sound of her sniffling as she cries silently to herself. “Why did you have to leave? Why did you have to leave me alone?” She asks as she begins to wails. “Seungri-ah~” She calls out in a low voice. I continue to walk ignoring her words as she began to sing to herself as her voice continue to quiver, “Only good memories...only a longing heart. On the path...where you left me...I’m standing alone~ Only until I can forget you...until I would be alright...I’ll swallow my tears and at the end of my wait....” The last part of her words I could hear her sniveling until she fell asleep completely on my back. As I found her keys in her jacket’s pocket I open her door and walked straight to her bedroom. Putting her down on her bed and fixing her into a sleeping position I pulled up her blanket to her shoulder watching her sleep peacefully. Brushing aside a few strands of hair that had fallen onto her face I slowly brought my lips upon her forehead giving her a kiss. Slowly closing her bedroom door behind her I let myself out of her house with my determination dwindling. From hearing her say those words left me wondering if I could ever make her happy again.
