Chapter 28
Compelled to LoveAuthor’s POV
“Hey, are you all right?” the boy repeated. He sat down on his knees next to Mirae, checking if the girl was able to open her eyes. Mirae’s eyes were opened but she couldn’t focus on the boy in front of her. “Hey? Can you hear me?” Mirae nodded weakly. Why’s he speaking English?
“Yes,” she mumbled in Korean, not caring if the boy would understand her or not. Luckily, though, he did understand.
“Oh... You’re Korean. I am too.” The boy changed his position; sitting beside Mirae. “You can rest your head on my shoulder if you want,” the boy offered. Mirae’s head felt so heavy, that when the offer came she didn’t even think twice. “Is this your first time drinking?” the boy asked her.
“Mm,” Mirae mumbled. She had closed her eyes since the light was hurting them and made her head pound more than it already did. The boy frowned.
“Hm... Are you feeling nauseous or dizzy?” Mirae nodded again, weaker this time. “You need water. I’ll be right back.” He was about to get up when Mirae grabbed his arm.
“Don’t leave me,” she whispered. “Please...”
“Okay, I won’t. Are you here alone? Do you know how to speak Chinese?” the boy wondered.
Mirae shook her head. “No... And I...” She put a hand on her head, feeling as though she would throw up any second now. Never in her life had she felt this horrible, and because of alcohol? Mirae promised herself that she would never drink another drop again.
“Try to take deep breaths. That’s the only way you won’t throw up. How much have you had to drink? Do you remember? Or have you taken a glass that you don’t know where it came from? Because then I would like to take you to the hospital. It could be very toxic.”
“I-I’m fine,” Mirae answered.
“All right... I am gonna keep talking so that you stay with me and don’t fall asleep. What is your name? My name is Sehun,” the boy said. He held out a hand to her, wanting to shake. Mirae moved up her hand to grab his, but then someone else grabbed it instead and pulled her up on her feet. She recognised the hard grip.
“Lu...” she started. However, Luhan cut her off.
“What the hell are you doing here? Talking to him! Come!” Mirae felt her feet leave the ground as Luhan picked her up in his arms, then began to carry her away. She heard a faint call from the boy she had just met but had lost too much strength to do anything about it. “Stay the away, Sehun! Both from me and from her! I will ing kill you next time I see your ugly face near me!” Luhan shouted angrily. It thumped in Mirae’s poor ears and the headache got worse just by hearing Luhan’s loud shouts that close to her ears.
“Luh...an... Please...” she whispered. Luhan didn’t pay her his attention.
“Come, babe. We’re going home to my place, yeah?” he said. Mirae frowned a little. She tried to lift her head from Luhan’s shoulder. Was he talking to her or someone else?
“Who’s she?” a female voice replied Luhan. Mirae was too tired to even react. She couldn’t become angry in the state she was in now.
“She’s no one. Ignore her. I’m just going to take her home,” Luhan answered. “She’s the sister to one of my friends. Don’t mind her. I’m all yours when we’ve arrived home and I can dump her on the toilet.”
“Is that really a good idea? It’s not very nice...” the girl remarked.
“Ah. She doesn’t mind.” Luhan looked down at Mirae. She better not mind, he thought. The girl and he began to walk back towards their house. It took a while but then the girl broke the silence.
“Luhan, are you sure she’s okay? She looks rather pale. Shouldn’t we take her to the hospital or something?” Luhan didn’t reply her, he just walked on. “Luhan? Baby? Why are you being so grumpy? And why aren’t you listening to me?”
“I heard what you said. And I told you she’s fine. She just needs to vomit once and then she’ll be like normal. It’s not deadly to drink a few shots.”
“Not to you maybe. But if that girl hasn’t had a single drop of alcohol in her body before then it’ll take her long time to recover. And, to be honest, she does not look like she’s used to drinking...” The girl giggled.
“Whatever.” After twenty minutes of walking, they got home to the house and went inside. “I’ll be right back. My room is that one over there.” He nodded towards the room. The girl headed towards the bedroom, while he carried Mirae into the other bathroom – the one that wasn’t in their bedroom. There he put her
