By the time their manager returned the atmosphere in the room had dramatically changed once more. While they had returned to silence, it wasn’t the determined silence of before. Instead of looking driven by passion, the boys looked like zombies. There was an unnatural chill in the room.
Tao was pretty sure the members were all having similar thoughts. None of them felt any better after unfollowing Kris. In fact, if the others were anything like Tao, they felt really bad about it. In hindsight it felt rash and childish but now that it was done it would be too embarrassing to take it back.
When it was time for the EXO-K and M to go to their separate schedules the boys didn’t say anything. There was no playful pushes or yelling. They simply patted each other on the back before walking out of the room in different directions. The EXO-K members were going to M! Countdown. Thankfully their performance had been recorded earlier that day. Tao was pretty certain none of them were in the right mental condition to be performing. He knew he wasn’t.
Tao looked out the tinted window as the road rushed passed them. He let himself stare blankly out the van window while his mind drifted away into questions. He wondered if this was really happening. Was Kris really not coming back? He wondered why he hadn’t responded to anyone’s messages. Was he ok? Maybe some crazed fan had him captive. Maybe none of this was really happening because of Kris. How did they know it was him? No one had spoken to him right?
