He wished he didn’t care.
‘It’s stupid. He probably didn’t come today either. Even if he did come there was no way I’d see him.’ That’s what Tao told himself but still he found himself looking into the crowd. His eyes scanned over all the happy faces looking back at him. Those faces should make him happy, and they did, but it wasn’t Kris.
Tao bit the inside of his lip as he tried to shake the feeling off. Holding out his hand he waved at a group of fans and let the bitter feelings sink away.
It happened so suddenly but he clearly felt every moment. The way his foot slipped on the edge of the open floor. The falling sensation as he dropped into the open pit. The way his elbow caught on the edge and sent a pain up his arm. He remembered Luhan’s careful hands quickly moving his elbow off the stage allowing the tall blonde to crumple more naturally onto the space below. Tao gave a silent whimper as he counted his injury. Thankfully it was less worse than it likely appeared but Tao still could feel the pain in his leg and arm. Looking up he saw Luhan and Lay’s concerned faces looking down at him.
“Tao-ah” Lay said quietly. Even though he had only said the boy’s name, Tao knew his intention. He was certain his hyung was worried about his dongsaeng but also didn’t want to alert the fans and was telling him to get up as quickly as possible. Even from inside the hole he could hear the fans’ concerned screams and noises. Tao took a moment to process how he should re-enter the stage to come off cooly.
As he came to a stand Tao rested his elbows along the stage floor and looked out at the crowd with a casually annoyed expression. The way the fans screamed Tao knew he had played it off well but in the back off his mind he couldn’t help but hope Kris really wasn’t there.
