Prompt: Anniversary

Additional Character: Choi Minho

Jongwoon was up to something. What? Kyuhyun had no idea. He would just watch as the older male would run in and out of the flat with a cheeky smile on his face and he would see Choi Minho stood on the other side of the door as Jongwoon opened it to leave.

What was even more concerning was the smirk on Minho’s face as he stared back.

Jongwoon was always a secretive person but never when it came to him and all of a sudden, it felt like there was a wall between them and it scared him. Maybe Jongwoon was falling out of love with him. Of course he would fight for the other man but he wasn’t even sure if he was strong enough to take down Minho. He regretted not going to the gym frequently enough and spending his time playing video games instead.

What was even more shocking was that Minho was breaking the bro code.  He couldn’t deny that Jongwoon was hot, but Minho was one of his best friends! He was an original member in his infamous Kyu line after all. In his head, he began plotting scenarios that would take out the younger male.

But maybe it was all in his head. Minho surely would never do that to him.

Having said that, Jongwoon and Minho had nothing in common! Minho loved football and was loved by his fans and then there was Jongwoon. Jongwoon was just weird. In a good way of course, if it wasn’t for Jongwoon’s voice and passion for music, but he just loved the little quirks that made the older male so unique.

“Yah! Kyu ah! What are you thinking about?” Jongwoon asked, pulling the younger male out of his trance.

“You” he replied smoothly, giving the older male a cheeky wink causing him to blush a deep shade of red.

“Hey! You shouldn’t be saying those things.” Seeing Jongwoon flustered always made Kyuhyun fall deeper in love. Surely Jongwoon still getting embarrassed by his cheesy words meant that the older man still love him. Yes, it had to mean that Jongwoon prefered him over Minho.

“Why not?”

“It’s embarrassing”

“You’re the one who asked. And anyway, I haven’t seen you in ages. You have been spending a lot of time with Minho, what have you been doing with him?”

“Oh… nothing, don’t worry about it. He is just showing me some new dances - you know with the new Shinee comeback and all. I just wanted to practice.” Kyuhyun noted to himself that Jongwoon was looking down at the floor and playing with his hair - a telltale sign that he was lying. Back to square one; there was something going on between Jongwoon and Minho, there had to be.

“Okay, sure. If you say so.”

“Listen, I got to go, Minho is showing me this cool new cafe but I’ll see you later, yeah?” Jongwoon stood up and walked to the cupboard with the coats. He rummaged through the pockets and pulled out a small business card. “Hey, Kyu ah. By the way, I got invited to this event thing on Saturday at 12:30. I’m not sure what it is but I might turn up, do you want to go together?”

“What is this for?” Kyuhyun accepted the card, but all was written on it was the time and date.

“Yah! I just told you that I didn’t know! You are definitely have to come now.” Jongwoon snatched business card back and placed it back in his coat pocket.

“I’m sorry hyung, I don’t think I can. I’m meeting up with Suho this Saturday.” Kyuhyun sighed, pulling out his phone to show the conversation with his weekend plans to the older male.

“Well cancel on him because I have decided that we are both going now.”

“I’m not sure I can hyung - we are going out that day to celebrate our friendaversary.” Kyuhyun felt a bit guilty when he saw Jongwoon’s smile drop but he didn’t say anything - if Jongwoon could hang around with Minho as often as he did, why couldn’t he with Suho?

“Oh, well, I will go now. I’ll see you later.” Jongwoon replied, not making eye contact with the younger male. The door slammed and the silence in the room was almost suffocating.

Kyuhyun and Jongwoon barely spoke in the following few days. It was somewhat awkward, which was strange because after everything they went through (the secret five year relationship, Jongwoon’s almost wedding with Moon Geun Young, the reveal to the public) you would think that something as small as Cho Kyuhyun’s best friend would make little impact in the trust of their relationship.

But Jongwoon was still being strangely secretive and would come back in the early hours of the morning - probably when he though Kyuhyun would be sleeping. Maybe Jongwoon was cheating on him. No, he wasn’t the type of person who would do such a terrible thing.

He didn’t even try cancelling his meeting with Suho because he wasn’t even sure he wanted to go to the mysterious event Jongwoon was talking about. Regardless, he had arranged to meet up with Suho at 12:00 so he would be too busy to go to the event.

It was somewhat awkward when he walked to the front door. He crossed paths with Jongwoon at the same time, and he almost gawked when he saw the older male dressed in a black suit and he could feel himself being incredibly attracted to Jongwoon. He felt somewhat under dressed in comparison - a loose white t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans.

Jongwoon looked somewhat disappointed when he saw Kyuhyun standing there. “Have a good time at the event, hyung”

The older male shrugged. “Thanks, I will. I’ll see you later” He reached over and placed a soft kiss on Kyuhyun’s lips before leaving.

As he looked out, he could see Minho standing outside with an unreadable expression on his face. Kyuhyun almost screamed in frustration.

Suho arrived not long after and Kyuhyun felt as if something was wrong - especially seeing as Suho was also wearing a suit. “Oh, hyung, I’m only wearing a suit because I have got recording later. You should put on a suit too if you feel so out of place.” He decided against the suit, knowing that he had no reason to dress in such an uncomfortable outfit.

“I’ll be okay.” Kyuhyun replied, locking the front door behind him. “Where are we going anyway? That bar?”

“Kyuhyun hyung, isn’t it a bit too early to drink? Anyway, I have a surprise for you so you don’t need to worry about where we are going until we get there!”. He sighed, everyone was keeping secrets from him.

It wasn’t until they pulled up to a church that Kyuhyun realised something was very wrong. Why would Suho be taking him here? He had to have Suho pull him inside before he could even process what was happening.

The decorations inside the church was almost as if he was having a deja-vu. The flowers that decorated the walls was reminiscent of the blue and white flowers used at his wedding two years ago. Oh wait. Two years ago today, Kyuhyun and Jongwoon got married. How could he forget! He felt himself become slightly dizzy - he wasn’t sure if it was because he felt bad because he forgot such an important date or because he felt the love being radiated from the older man.

He could see Jongwoon standing at the back of the church holding a bunch of flowers, smiling in his direction while Minho was standing by the side with a smirk on his face. He approached the older male and accepted the flowers. “Hyung, what is going on?”

“It’s our two year anniversary today and I wanted to renew our vows!” Oh God, how could Kyuhyun forget? He had been with Jongwoon for so long that their anniversary date just left his mind.

“Jongwoon hyung, I’m so sorry, I completely forgot that it was our anniversary. When Suho asked if I wanted to go out for our friendaversary I couldn’t say no because he is one of my best friends.”

“Kyuhyun hyung, it isn’t even our friendaversary date today.” Suho piped in with a laugh.

“It doesn’t matter Kyuhyun ah, it just made my plan work even better. You are such an idiot! I still love you though.” Jongwoon laughed, pulling the younger male into a kiss.

“Shame about my outfit though.” Kyuhyun laughed and for the first time in forever, he wished he had worn his suit.

“Oh by the way Jongwoon hyung, I’m sorry for getting jealous. I can’t believe I thought you prefered Minho over me!”

“He was helping me set up the event for us. But I do prefer him over you.” Jongwoon laughed before running off into the distance.

Kyuhyun smiled as he could feel himself fall deeper and deeper in love with the older male. Even after everything, their love was still just as pure and he could tell that they would be together deeply in love for the foreseeable future.
