"Take it, take it and run. Don't look back, whatever you do, don't look back." Her bloodied hand fell over mine and out dropped a clear,  tear shaped crystal. It was memorizing and shimmering from the light reflecting from the fire surrounding us.

She gave me a small push urging me to run. through all the confusion I didn't know what to do. I stood there firm on the ground not wanting to leave her side until a boy, a few years older with dark brown hair pulled me away and put me on his back carrying me to the river.

A single shot was fired following a scream. That was the last time I saw my mother, my family, my everything. 

10 years have passed since that day.
