(When you both were nineteen )

"Tch! What Happy Birthday! " SungGyu dismissed your well-wishes. He stuck out a hand and pulled you up. 
" Let's go. " He replied before slipping his hands into his pockets. 

Your heart was thudding against your chest. 
The wind brought his scent with it, and your nerves were exploding waves of nervousness. 

" Gyu.. " 
He hummed, never looking back. 
You stared at his back view, he was always confident and knew what he wanted. 
This moment, despite always being indecisive you knew he was what you wanted. 


Fifteen minutes ago, his best friend saw you hanging by the benches. 

"Waiting for him? " 
You nodded shyly without looking up. 
" Is it today? " 
You hesistated, before giving a small nod. 
Silence took over. 
You pursed your lips, " Am.. Am I doing it right ? " 
You looked away from him quickly, before he could connect eyes with you. 

"I don't know, " you muttered softly before he could say anything.. 
"Give it a chance, " Woohyun encouraged, " Who knows? " 


"What if...he rejec- " 
Woohyun interrupted you. 
" GIve it a chance. " 
He got up, " Good luck! " And he threw you a silly heart sign. 
You giggled before staring at down your laps and steadied your breath.

"Gyu..., let's head to that tall tower. " 
"Aish, it's so far. " 
" Pleaseeee... " 
He gave you an exasperated look but eventually gave in. 

Both of you sat in silence for a while as the night feel cold, and the black overcomes the bright skies bit by bit. 
Until every bit of the orange fade away, you mustered sufficient courage. 

" I like you. " You mumbled. 

Silence. 

You didn't dare to look at him. 
Is this a rejection? 

You gulped and counted.
"1.. 2.. " 

Then, you sang,... and he joined in as a duet with you.

You let your head rest against his chest. 
You drew little circles on his palms as you pondered aloud when the song ended, " What if I never took WooHyun's words? " 
"Mmm? " 
"Like, if I didn't confess... " 
You stretched your neck upwards to look into his eyes. 

" I don't know.  " 
He rubbed your shoulder with his thumb, " But, I'm happy that you did. " 
" You gave me the chance to love this woman before me, more. " 

You giggled and held him tighter. 
Just before you drifted to sleep with him in your arms, " But Gyu? " 
"Mmm? " 
" You still hated it right? " 
He kept silent for a while. 
" I hated it, " he paused, " Because you didn't give yourself a chance to be who you truly are. " 
"The woman that I fell in love with. " 

"Give yourself a chance to be yourself jakiya. " 

You hummed, purposely ignoring his naggings, " Happy Birthday. " 
He chuckled and pressed his lips on the top of your head. 


" Oh and Jakiya, " He broke the silence after a while, 
"Mmm? " You hummed sleepily. 
" The boys gave me baby booties and rattles. " 

" Give it a chance? " He smirked.
