Double Update!!!

Mandy’s POV

She stretched her body a little after the nap she had taken at the plane. She had woken up when it was announced that they were going to reach Delhi in about 10 minutes.

“Niya, wake up” she shook her best friend who had also decided to take a quick nap.

“Are we there yet?” Niya asked as she massaged her eyes

“Yep, ten minutes left; you want to go freshen up a little? I already went”

“Nah, I’m good; just need some water”

“Here” Mandy said, handing her a water bottle

“Thanks”

They got off the flight and collected their baggage.

They loaded it all up on a trolley and went out to meet the driver, who had come to pick them up.

They loaded up the entire luggage again in the car’s boot and first dropped off Niya at her house.

They reached the family home in another 10 minutes.

“Hey, I’m home!!” Mandy entered the main hall and shouted, but it only echoed through the empty house. She went to the kitchen and greeted the staff.

When she inquired them about her parents’ whereabouts, she was informed that they were both out.

She wasn’t really disappointed coz she had gotten used to this routine. So she went to her room and took a hot bath. After that she dressed up and decided to pay her sister a visit.

She drove to her sister’s house and reached in about half an hour.

“Look who’s here!” she announced as she entered the house and was greeted by Milo, the Golden Retriever.

“Hey sweetie, how are you; did you miss me?” she asked in baby voice from the dog as she ruffled his fur.

“Maasi!!” Miraya came running towards her, with her arms outstretched and Mandy picked her up and swung her about.

“How is my favorite person in the world?” Mandy asked her niece

“Good” Miraya giggled

“Did you miss me?”

“Yes, a lot” Miraya “What did you bring for me?”

“I brought you a dress”

“But I have lots of dresses here”

“Oh, but this one is different; it’s called Hanbok; I brought a mini version for you” handing her niece a packet

“Thank you!” Miraya said and hugged her aunt. After that she requested to be let down so that she could try her new dress.

“First tell me where your mum is”

“She’s upstairs in the her office room” Miraya said and ran to her own room with her new dress

Mandy knocked on the door of Harleen’s office room and entered.

“Hey, I’m back”

“Oh! I’m so sorry, I totally forgot” Harleen said as she got up from her desk and hugged Mandy

“No problem” Mandy said “So where’s papa?”

“He is in the bedroom, watching TV”

“No I’m not, I’m here to greet my eldest daughter” Sarabjeet said from behind them. “Did you get back okay?” he asked Mandy as she hugged him

“Uh huh; oh, before I forget, these are for you” Mandy said as she handed them both a packet each.

“What is it?” Harleen asked

“Just little Seoul souvenirs” Mandy said

“Oh, and before I forget” Harleen said as she took out a box from her desk cupboard and tossed it to Mandy “It’s your graduation present” she explained

“What is it?” Mandy asked

“Check it yourself” Sarabjeet grinned at her

Mandy opened the box and inside it was a very familiar key to a very familiar vehicle.

“How did you find it?” Mandy asked

“It was hiding among the other old keys of the house” Harleen said

“Wow, I loved Noorie, thanks di; I’ll keep this key safe” Mandy said and added it to her necklace chain as a pendant. “Thank you, this is really like wow”

“I hope that’s what you say after seeing Noorie” Harleen said

“What do you mean?” Mandy asked

“We had her redone” Sarabjeet said

“What?! But how; I mean she was all busted up” Mandy said

“Yeah well, it was not easy to convince the custom shop owner to even give her a try, but after a lot of ‘convincing’, he agreed; and now she’s even better than a new one” Harleen said

“Where is she?” Mandy asked eagerly

“In the garage outside, the one with the gray cover” Sarabjeet said and Mandy ran out the next second towards the garage.

I think it’s a good time to tell you all that ‘Noorie’ here is a car, an old car, the car Mandy had learn to drive on and she was very attached to it. But over the past few years, it had been neglected totally and was not in its best condition.

Mandy pulled off the cover and beneath it was her first ride.

“Oh my god, this is awesome” she exclaimed loudly

“You like it?” Harleen asked

“I love it! Thank you so much!” Mandy jumped up and down in excitement. “I have to tell Niya about this” she thought explicitly

“She already knows” Harleen informed her

“It was her idea, wasn’t it?” Mandy asked

“Yep”

“Thought so; but I have to tell Ji Hoo this. He doesn’t even know about Noorie.” And she thought for a moment about how to break it to him.

“Why don’t you take a picture and send it to him; that way he can know about it” Harleen suggested

“Yep, let’s do that first thing in the morning” Mandy concluded

The next day Mandy took a lot of pictures of her and Noorie together and after selecting the best few, she sent it to the F4 and the girls.

“Let’s have breakfast now” Harleen suggested.

Mandy had driven back home after dinner and had driven back to her sister’s house as soon as she got ready in the morning.

When she reached home, she was informed that her father was waiting for her in his study.

“Hey dad, wassup?” she said as she entered

“What’s up is that I came back home yesterday and expected you to be here, but you were not here” her father said as he hugged her

“I was at di’s house”

“Yeah I got to know that. Sorry we missed your graduation; I had a really important meeting”

“Yeah, I know. No problem, it’s cool. Di and Pa were there, Niya was also there. And you came for my birthday, right? So it’s no big deal” Mandy said with feigned indifference.

“Ok, but here’s your present” her father said and gave her a wrapped box.

“What is it?”

“The newest version if the DSLR camera”

“Oh, thanks dad” Mandy smiled at him.

“So, did you meet your mom?”

“Nope”

“She’s in the bedroom, go meet her”

“Okay”

Mandy climbed the flight of stairs and gained her breath. She knocked on the door and entered.

“Good morning” Mandy said cheerfully

“Oh, you’re back. Wasn’t your flight for today?” her mother asked as she got up from the bed and hugged her

“No, it was for yesterday”

“Doesn’t matter now, you’re here” her mother said

There was an uncomfortable silence between them and Mandy started backing out of the room, when her mother stopped her.

“I almost forgot to give you this” her mother said and took out a box and handed it to Mandy.

“What’s this?” Mandy asked expectantly

“It’s your present, for your graduation”

Mandy opened the box and inside were a pair of shoes.

“Thank you” Mandy said

“This is your favorite designer right?”

Mandy nodded even though it was not true. Mandy hugged her mother once more and left the room with a smile on her face.

It’s not like this was the first time her mother had given her a present, but during her time with Ji Hoo, Mandy had learned one thing; that no matter how bad her relationship may be with her mother, she still had one; her best friend didn’t, and it showed in his talks that he would give up anything to bring his parents back. So Mandy had decided that she would start appreciating every little thing her parents did for her. That’s why she hadn’t told her father that the camera that he gifted was one that she already had.
 

She entered her room and put the shoes in her closet.

Just then her ipad buzzed.

She was pleasantly surprised by seeing the caller id.

“Hey everyone, what’s up?” she smiled at the screen

“Hey!” her Korean family smiled at her, but it was missing the most important member

“Where’s Ji Hoo?” she asked, worried

“Uh, he is a little busy with Harbeoji these days” Woo Bin spoke up

“Oh”

“Yeah, Harbeoji is moving in with Sunbae” Jan Di said

“Oh, that’s so cool! So how are you guys? I am already missing y’all so much” Mandy said

“We miss you too unnie” Ga Eul said

“So did you reach back fine?” Woo Bin asked

“I’m here aren’t I?” Mandy said sarcastically

“What’s with you girls and sarcasm; or are you and Niya like this?” Woo Bin asked

“Sarcasm isn’t really restricted to girls; all humans are capable of sarcasm, except maybe Dr. Sheldon Cooper” Mandy said and laughed

The whole gang had blank expressions on their faces

“Nothing, it’s a joke; you won’t get it, you all haven’t watched the show” Mandy said and tried to change the topic “So did you guys get the pictures I sent you?” she asked

Again blank expressions “Don’t you guys check your email?” she asked rhetorically

“Umm, let me check mine” Yi Jung offered and picked up his tab

“I see that you guys liked your gifts huh?” Mandy asked

“They’re great unnie thanks; all the e-books that you downloaded are really helpful, now I won’t have to go the library again and again” Jan Di said

“I’m happy that you like it” Mandy smiled

“Oh, yes there is an email from you” Yi Jung said as he opened the document.

“What is this?” Yi Jung asked as he saw the pictures.

“My first ride” and Mandy explained the whole history behind her beloved Noorie.
