Goodbyes Part. 2
If I Die YoungOur scale is the best and our scale is the best
Everything has to be the best
Super junior is only missing the ‘man’ from the name of ‘superman’
Our passion is the best and our concentration is the best
Who would be able to say we’ve finished
Super junior is only missing the ‘man’ from the name of ‘superman’
When your heart is sad, when you want to listen to a song,
When you need something to lift your spirits up,
We are next to you, let’s all come together
“Kangin hyung!”
Kangin always was a er for this kid. Like a magnet, he felt like he was being pulled by Ryeowook’s voice. Kangin didn’t know how but he ended up in front of Ryeowook’s casket anyway as much as he didn’t want to. Kangin glanced down but quickly looked back up on the screen. On screen, Ryeowook was alive and happy. Kangin didn’t want to think of anything else. Ryeowook was waving on screen showing off that cute dimple of his. As a hyung, Kangin had always been a er for this dongsaeng.
“Hyung,” Ryeowook said in a very whiny voice. “Hyung, what am I going to do without you?”
“You’ve always taken care of me, hyung. You’re like second appa.”
“Hyung, do you want to know something?” Ryeowook giggled. “Remember how when I told you I wanted to go back to Incheon a few months ago, you gave me some pocket money?”
“They’re still in my room, hyung. Please take them back.”
“Anyway, hyung, do you know who I chose Superman for you?”
Kangin shook his head.
“Because, you are my superman, Kangin hyung.”
“Times were tough for you and I know you must have been deeply hurt by everything in the past. When you went off to the army, all of us were worried for you, hyung. Not because you went off to the army but because we wanted you to know that we have your back and you never have to worry about us. We hoped and prayed everyday that you’d heal and when you came back, you changed.”
“I miss the old Kangin hyung. The old Kangin hyung wouldn’t be afraid.”
“You’re always afraid now, hyung. You’re afraid to voice out of your opinion, you’re afraid to be in charge. You’re afraid of trying something new. But… I can see you trying every single day. I see you struggling and I see you trying.”
“And that is why you are my superman, hyung.”
“Because I don’t know how you do it. I’d already be crushed to pieces if something like that happens to me. You’re so strong, Kangin hyung. And I know a lot of people don’t see it that way, even you yourself, but in my eyes, you’re strong, Kangin hyung.”
“You came back a superman.”
Kangin was still holding back his tears. He had his hands in a fist, tightly clutched at his sides. Ryeowook made a heart shape with his hands and the audiences and Kangin laughed when he accidentally hit the keys on his piano and scared himself.
“Hyung,” Ryeowook grinned. “You took good care of me.”
“Now it’s my turn.”
“Just let yourself go, hyung.” Ryeowook nodded. “The members and I will always have your back, hyung.”
“People forgive. So don’t worry about the past, hyung. I’m not going to lie and say that they will forget. The people who love you the most will never forget. But, they will also forgive and keep on forgiving you. As long as you keep fighting and trying.”
“I love you, hyung. My superman.”
Somewhere in between, Kangin had finally started crying. It wasn’t easy for the members and the other audiences to see someone as big and strong as Kangin to cry. Kangin ran a hand over his left side of his chest and wiped his tears. Ryeowook said his goodbye. And this was the last goodbye. Gently, Kangin patted the casket, smiling down softly.
“You’re wrong, Wook.” Kangin whispered.
“You are my superman.”

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Ryeowook dedicated the song, “What Doesn’t Kill You,” to Shindong. He sung it beautifully without the piano and changed the lyrics to Korean. Shindong had already stepped forward, but unlike t
