Chapter 2

Almost Heaven

"Sir, your wife is having ataxia."

Baekhyun widened his eyes as soon as he heard the doctor announced the result which was obviously a bad news. He recalled to the night when he googled her indications and it resulted him to a few possible disorders she could have. Ataxia was one of them. Her strange indications fit ataxia the most but he refused to believe that she was really having ataxia. He never googled her indications and anything related to it again since then; because he was fairly scared to read all the possible result of the disorder.

"How is this possible doctor?" He looked straight to the doctor, emotionless, his voice was shaking and his mind kept demanding himself to wake up as if he believed that he was dreaming right now. "It is possible to happen because of several potential causes. Decreased sodium, head injuries, accidents and genetic factors are also included."

He let his mind wander for a while. It made him thinking of something, he remembered his wife told him she was used to be involved in a car accident when she was younger but this reason didn't make any sense after all that it happened a long time ago, and the disorder just came to a result when she was already an adult. But there were possibilities that it could happened because of another possible reasons.

As soon as he pulled himself back to reality, he nodded slowly and quietly left the room after doctor explained more things to him and taking the envelope of his wife's current health condition result. His friends stood up, walked near him and immediately shoot him with questions. Baekhyun was still standing there emotionlessly, not moving, and not talking.

"Hyung, what's the result? Hyung!" Sehun asked while shaking his shoulder to make him talk and answer their questions. They were all indeed curious with the result because they cared about Sunhee as well; she was like their sister too.

While his friends were questioning him, a familiar figure rushed toward him, it was his brother in law. "Sehun called me. Where's Sunhee? How is she?"

Baekhyun didn't exactly reply the question and rather collapsed down onto the waiting seat with the hold of his bestfriend Chanyeol. This made Seunghyun extremely worried in which he grabbed the envelope from Baekhyun almost harshly. It wasn't that he was mad at him for not responding, he was in rush and he needed to know what's happening to his sister right now. He opened the envelope quickly and ended up gasping, his eyes widened. "Ataxia?"

Seunghyun panted and sat beside his brother in law. Everyone broke into silence; they were all shocked to the bad news which distracted their plan of having fun together. Baekho seemed to understand the situation as well that he started crying almost loudly, as if he knew that all of them were sad about something.

Kyungsoo tried to hush him but his efforts to calm him down resulted to nothing more than a louder cry. On the other hand, Baekhyun tried to pull himself back to reality that he realized his son was sobbing—and in quick movement—he stood up and took care of his son before he saw a familiar female figure was walking toward them.

"Ah, why is my baby crying?" Sunhee smiled weakly, surprising everyone with her sudden presence, but no one dared to speak. She suddenly got pulled close to her husband as his other hand was staying in control to carry their son. Hugging her comforted him so much more that it faded his worries for a while, words couldn't probably describe how happy he was to hug her close in his arms, he didn't want to let go, he would never do that. "I'm so worried, we all are. I think Baekho is worried as well that he didn't see his mother around for a moment."

A soft chuckle was heard from her lips. She slowly pulled away from the hug, but not getting too far away from him, to wipe Baekho's tears and kissed his cheek before noticing her brother was there. "Hey, silly," he tried his best to put on a smile. "I heard you fell again."

Not wanting to wait more, she rushed toward him and hugged him tightly. Although their parents went overseas for their business projects, hugging eachother felt like hugging their parents as well. "You're not so good at faking smiles!" She giggled into his chest which made him laughed mostly at himself. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine. Right?"

Seunghyun breathed out, heavily, looking at her husband flatly and nodded. "Y-yeah, you're fine. I'm just worried."

Both decided not to tell her.

Not today.

Sehun and his friends seemed to understand that they had to seal their mouths as well. None of them dared to talk even until now; they were just quiet and sometimes faked a smile when she turned to them. Despite the disorder wasn't yet severe, it stabbed them like a knife just to know her current condition. Then again, they had to cover those stab marks from her to not make things worse.

"I knew I was just overly tired." She said with a light smile, but it seemed like she didn't notice the odd acts of her husband, brother and friends. With another smile, she started to walk away slowly, "Come on, let's go home!"

Everyone followed her behind, but Baekhyun was hesitant. He was still thinking if he should stay with the cover-up story from her; or just tell her the truth about her condition. Seunghyun had guilt growing inside of him as well; he just filled his own sister with lies to not make things get any worse. But weren't things already worst right now? Yes, he knew that, but he had no choice.

"Why are you two staying behind?" She stopped short on the way and turned around to notice that her husband and brother were still frozen behind. Baekhyun shook his head and glanced to Seunghyun for a moment before starting to follow her along and went back home.

"You're so good in cooking, Kyungsoo!" Sunhee praised, clapping her hands watching one of her brother figures was cooking dinner. Kyungsoo was almost blushing at the praise, but still focusing his eyes on the cook. People in the house trying their best to make her happy during her times at home, they wanted to make her smile at least. But hiding the secret of her current condition was their worry in this case, it wasn't supposed to be kept as a secret from her but they had no choice.

Baekhyun came behind and back hugged her in all of sudden, surprising her. He had always made her feel like she's the only happiest girl in the world with his meaningful actions because she practically already made him feel like he's the luckiest guy in the world since their first encounter. "Baekho has fallen asleep quicker than usual tonight." He murmured on her ears while kissing her head gently, softly, full of meaningful affections.

"Really?" She turned slightly to see his face and rubbed his arms on her waist. He replied nodding and cracked a cute smile, cuddling his wife close still.

Kyungsoo watched them and couldn't help but to smile lightly. It was amusing to watch them being cute together and from them he learnt a lot of things to be grateful for. Such as life, health and happiness. "Kyungsoo, we'll be outside alright?" Her voice surprised him.

"Yeah, go ahead. I'll tell you once the cook is done. Have fun." He smiled lightly and waved a hand before he continued cooking the dinner as they left when Jongin came to accompany his bestfriend.

Outside the kitchen, Baekhyun held her hands and led her outside while passing his friends who were playing games in the living room like they weren't exist. Sunhee was curious what he was going to do with taking her outside, until she saw their patio has been decorated as pretty as she never expected it to turn out to be.

(play it during the patio moments if you wish)

"Whoa... Did─ did you...?" She turned to him with an amused smile. She loved lights and house decorations at nights, and he knew. He was told that it was romantic, and that was why he did this.

He nodded with a smile. "Yeah, with the help of those twin towers Kris and Chanyeol. And this is special, for you."

"Thank you. I mean, thank you... This is beautiful." She stifled her chuckle and was still amazed by the beautiful view at their patio; it reminded her a lot to her first prom night with him where she ended up sitting at the prom night location's patio. "Familiar with something so sudden?" He asked.

"The prom night."

"Exactly." He said kissing the top of head before started speaking again. It's as if they were celebrating their wedding anniversary, but no matter it was their anniversary or valentine’s day, they had always been sweet as how a candy tasted like. With a charming smile, he reached out his hand for her and bowed in front of her. "Wanna dance with me for a little while?"

She nodded her head and confidently took his hand. He started to place his hands around her waist while her hands were on his shoulders. They were just moving around, basically. Enjoying the night. Both started to dance under the beautiful moonlight, slowly but joyfully. Laughs filling their night, it was too perfect to be forgotten. "Do you love me?"

"Ofcourse, I do. Why?"

"How much?" He asked, not that he was unsure about her feelings. He only wanted to know how much she loved him because he hadn't have the chance to question her so before.

Sunhee blushed and turned to him, showing the getting-red cheeks of hers. "I love you very much, more than you could imagine, I'm sure. How about you? How much do you love me?"

"I love you more than anything in the world. I do even love you more than I love myself. You should know this." He chuckled at his own statement and leaned closer, resting her head on his shoulder. Despite his words, it couldn't exactly describe how much he loved her yesterdays, today and probably a thousand more years to their forever. Yes, he sure would do that. He would love her forever.

She couldn't respond more to his meaningful actions and words. He showed her too much that she couldn't count how much she blushed tonight. To her, this was more than a lot. But she was grateful to what he'd showed her. "Why I didn't see so many stars today?" She asked while looking up to the sky slightly.

"Perhaps they are upset that there's someone prettier showing up." He told her with his soft and gentle voice, still moving around with her.

"What does that mean? Who's prettier than they are?"

"The one I'm dancing with." Baekhyun replied in an instant with a tender, soft smile. This time he was receiving a sudden tap on his shoulder which made him literally surprised to it. "Why?"

She faked a pout. Well, she was still a professional on doing pouts. "Stop praising me. You don't know how many times I blushed tonight!"

"It's because you're the queen of my heart. I love you so much more than anything, remember?" He laughed as he avoided her other taps on his shoulder by holding both of her hands before kissing her lips gently. She widened her eyes slightly as soon as she felt something warm touched her lips, but then she closed her eyes, not to distract the moment.

The kiss lasts for a few seconds. He used to surprise her with kisses when they were still dating and newlyweds. But to her, no matter how many times he had done those surprises, she never could get used to it. It kept making her heart beating fast, cheeks blushing, and made her breathe unstable. He was her first kiss after all. She was his first kiss too.

"Hey?" He waved a hand when she was frozen with her thoughts far away. It wasn't long before she realized. "Yeah?"

"Kyungsoo said the dinner is ready. Where were your thoughts going to?" He knowing that she was obviously thinking about something a while ago. Without thinking so much more, she gestured to the house and smiled softly. "Let's have dinner first and then we'll come back here."

"Who said about you two eating inside? This patio was decorated for your romantic dinner anyway. Isn't it?" Kyungsoo talked behind her with a smile, the food was already placed on the patio table. Jongin was there beside him, folding his arms and smiled playfully. "Well, yeah, you're right hyung! I heard Chanyeol and Kris hyung has been working hard on it."

"Oh," she was surprised but still smiling. "If that so, okay then. I should have asked first to any of you. Thank you very much."

Both Kyungsoo and Jongin nodded before leaving her alone with her husband to start their romantic dinner. Her eyes were locked looking at him; his eyes were locked looking at her back. It was as if the world was created for only the two of them, it was as if nobody else was around except her and her husband.

"Let's have our dinner, shall we?" He asked her in somewhat a formal way, gesturing to the patio which had been decorated such perfectly as she once wished to have. Slowly and together, they walked to the patio and sat there to start having the romantic dinner.

Baekhyun walked toward the dining area to find a tart cake was placed on the table. He was wondering who made it and what was it made for. No one was celebrating birthday today. But wait, where is everyone? It was so quiet like the in middle of nights, but his friends were usually still awake at this hour. "Hello?" He called.

No respond.

"Hello? Anybody there?" He prompted as he entered the dining area and approached the table to see something was written on the cake which made him think.

Happy Birthday Choi Sunhee!

"Is she... No, today isn't─" he murmured but was cut when he heard his wife was entering the dining area confusedly, but she was happy when she found him. "Oh, I thought everyone is gone! Baekho is still sleeping though."

He saw her walking slowly, unstably, in a strange way toward him and hugged him tightly and closely. "Oh, is this a surprise for... Me?"

She said pulling away from the hug and saw the tart cake when she put on the widest smile. It looked so pure that he could tell he wasn't really dreaming about her birthday, but he was sure that it was still a few months before her birthday. "Thank you so much." She muttered softly as she hugged him again, he couldn't help but to reply the hug.

Slowly, they pulled out from the hug again. He walked around the table, but then he heard no sound of her. When he turned around, the place was different again. It was almost the edge of a cliff, he was stepping on grasses. "Sunhee?" He called for her. How could I be─

"Help!" He was startled as he heard the familiar voice of his wife, and it was below the edge of the cliff he was stepping on. His wife, with death pale face and skin, was hanging on the end of the cliff with her possible strength that left. "Oh my god, Sunhee! What are you─?"

"I don't know, help me please! I can't stay like this any longer..." She begged as her tears streamed down her cheeks, showing so much pain, tired and fear. He felt like his arm suddenly couldn't move, but his eyes were still watching her struggling on her own. "Ah! I can't move my arms...ugh!"

He was also struggling to move his arms but it resulted to nothing. Panic attack went through his soul, he couldn't stand to watch her struggling to get back onto the grass, yet he saw there was a very huge and swift river below the cliff. Her hands were only holding onto those rocks by the end of the cliff. After a few seconds of struggling, she released her grip because she was too tired. "Baekhyun!" She screamed when she released her grip, her eyes showed too many pains for him to handle. He was screaming as well, tears started to roll down his cheeks.

"AH!" He gasped loudly as soon as the dream was over; he quickly sat up on his bed. A tear escaped his eyes; his forehead was very sweaty as if he was just doing a running marathon.

It was only a dream.

He looked beside him as his wife woke up slowly after getting surprised to his sudden gasp. The dream made his heart almost skipped a beat, but now it was beating very fast as if he had been chased by a ghost. "What happened?" His wife asked while rubbing his shoulder.

"Nothing. Just a bad dream." He said in response while his hands were still rubbing his eyes frustratedly. "What time is it?"

"It's still 1am," she told him.

After squeezing his eyes, he turned to her and breathed out. She was looking at him with her narrowed eyes, he felt guilty to wake her up in the middle of nights. "I'm sorry that I distract you."

"It's okay. I'm fine. I can still sleep again. But how about you? Are you fine?" She was still there rubbing his shoulders to give some comfort. At least it comforted him so much than anyone could do. "Yeah. I am. I'm fine..." He replied between his breathe.

"Alright, let's get back to sleep." She showed him a smile that could really convince him as her hands searched for his and held them tight, not to let them go. "Does holding hands make you feel better? If so, then let's get back to sleep because I'm sure Baekho is going to be overly hyper tomorrow."

"Yeah." He agreed and kissed her cheek before lying back onto the bed, their hands were still holding eachother. Closing his eyes, he began to get himself back to sleep to prepare himself for tomorrow morning.

Chapter two is finally here! Please tell me what you think of the story so far. I really enjoyed reading your comments!

I put too many feels on the chapter that I melt when Baekhyun is praising her and my heart is beating so fast when I wrote the dream scene. What about you guys? Mind telling me what do you like in the chapter, what makes you surprised the most, etc? It'd be great if you put in some suggestions or whatever you want to tell me. And in case you are wondering, this is how the patio looks like, so you have an image of the house parts as well. ^_^
