I bop my head to the music as I walk back home from school. I see a few girls giggling at my way and I quickly turn up the volume to drown out their hysterical laughter.

I’m a loner and forever will be one. I don’t mingle around nor do I like gossip. I shove my ipod into my bag and pull my scarf over my neck because it is freaking cold.

As I am about to cross the road, someone grabs me from behind and pulls out my earphone.

“What the ?!” I turn around, ready to strike my assaulter when I realize that it is only Doojoon.

“Hey!” Doojoon waves.

“What do you mean by “hey”? What was that for?” I punch him at his shoulder and smoothes out the crease on my sleeve where Doojoon had grabbed me.

He shrugs and picks up his bag (it fell off when I punched him. Serves him right)

“I tried calling you but you didn’t hear me. So obviously I had to do something to get your attention. I think I did a good job at that.”

I ignore him and continue walking across the street.

“Wait up!” Doojoon runs to catch up and soon he is walking beside me.

“Junhyung, stop please!” Doojoon says exasperatedly.

I stop in my tracks to look at him. He sighs before continue talking.

“Aren’t you going for practice? “

“Nope.” I say immediately.

“Why not? It is first day of practice!”

“It is freaking freezing out here today Doojoon. I don’t wanna freeze my off. And that’s final. I’m heading home. Bye”

Before Doojoon can say anything further, I put on my earphones and dash back home. Doojoon won’t stay mad at me. He knows me too well.

I wheezed and tried to scream but the kicking wasn’t stopping. I used my arms to block them out but they kept coming. I prayed and prayed like I always do. I will not shed a tear. I will never give in.

“Loser.”

“Coward.”

I lied on the floor, hoping that death will come and take me. I have suffered for years. I didn’t think that I will survive the torment any longer. I wish for someone to help me. To pick up the pieces.

No one did.

The chill of the wind was making me shiver but I gradually grew numb and I couldn’t feel my body. However, just like always, he was there to guide me back home.

“Junhyung. Let’s bring you home.”

Yoseob applied antiseptic on my body where bruises were starting to form. He was always quiet and never question. He patched me up but he could never heal me.
