Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

It was the same morning as always. Luhan got up from his bed, he grunted under his breath in irritation. He shut off his alarm clock, and stood up, shuffling his way to the bathroom with his hand phone in his hand.

He swiped on his phone's screen, and unlocked the phone. He scoffed a little, when there were no new notifications. No one bothered sending him a farewell text, even if he was transferring school. At least, it was better than receiving some hate message.

He tapped on a number with a smile, and sent a quick text.

Good morning, I hope you are excited about this new day of school!

He was lying, he wasn't excited about this. He was never excited about school, to him, school was just horrendous place that devils habit on. And his question would never be answered, he would never know why he was bullied nor what wrongs he did to them to deserve such treatments. He was so sick of it one day that he remembered shutting himself in his room.

He looked himself in the mirror, and he didn't like what he saw. He saw a perfect example of a failure human, a laughing stock that people picked on, and a cowardice. Splashing himself with the cold water, he scoffed bitterly, and prepared for the so-called school.

Luhan speeded his little shaky bicycle down the slope, screaming to himself in thrill. He didn't care if people was judging him silently for his old bike or his behavior. He didn't care. Riding his old bike gave him so much thrill, that he actually forget his problems and the sadness that overwhelmed his heart, it was as if all the worries were flushed along when the bike sped up. He liked that; to be carefree and just be himself.

He heaved a little sigh, and parked his bicycle beside Sooyoung's gate.

He could feel his heart kicking him endlessly, after all, it had been such a long time ever since he had last seen her. Luhan wandered whether she had change her hairstyle, or the way she dresses or even the way she eat.

He pressed on the doorbell, and waited patiently outside. He tucked in his hand into his pocket, and let his eyes wandered around the neighborhood. It was still quiet and calm, like always. It never really changed. All he could see was grand buildings that resembled castles like those in Disney. Every single time he came here, he would always felt left out by his old rusty bike that aged about ten years for now and his old sport shoes that he never wanted to throw away. He felt intimidated. He was sure the Choi's household and even the servants didn't like Luhan coming here, heck, even picking up their princess to school. He didn't care though, because he wanted to see her every morning, and be that special guy ever to transport her to school.

"Oh," One of the servant hurried down, and only to slow down her steps when she saw Luhan awkwardly leaning against their wall.

The servant forced a smile. "The walls are painted just yesterday, would you mind if I ask you to get your back off from those walls?"

Luhan nodded his head. "I'm sorry." He could only apologize, what else could he possibly do? His words didn't matter to them, those high class people. All he could do was to follow their demands if he wanted to continue his friendship with Sooyoung.

"Let's go, Lu." Sooyoung had a toast in , while struggling to wear her shoe. Her hair was still in a mess that Luhan couldn't help but chuckled. He shook his head in disbelief, and kneeled down. He tied the shoe laces into a knot, then finally into a tidy bow.

Luhan smiled. "There you go."

Sooyoung muttered, "That was unnecessary though, I am not a kid anymore. I can at least tie my own shoe laces now."  Luhan didn't need to look up just to know that Sooyoung's face was flushed red in embarrassment.

He chuckled softly. "I remember you saying different thing when you were young. I remember how you wailed about how I should be the one tying up your shoe laces."

"The past is in the past now," Soyoyoung in a deep breath, "let's just go to the school now, shall we?" She grabbed the hem of Luhan's shirt, and trudged it a little.

She smiled a little, and pulled him to his abandoned bike. "Get on quickly! Faster! Faster!" She giggled like a little kid, and jumped on the back seat, before making herself comfortable. "Get up here, slowpoke!" She yelled, her tongue was stuck out.

Luhan chuckled; his eyes forming crescents. "Alright, alright. Just remember to hold tight on my waist okay? I don't want your giant body to fly off."

"I'm going to pull you down as well." Sooyoung chuckled, and grasped tightly on Luhan's uniform. She put her head on his broad back, and heaved a little sigh.

Luhan turned back in worry, and asked. "What happened? Is it about your parents?" He started to peddle in a slow speed, enjoying his time with Sooyoung. He liked the fact that her presence just behind him was making his heart flutter, and it warmed his heart. He could feel his wat hole brain squeezing too much, and he was quite certain that he was flushed red in embarrassment.

"I'm so sick of them."

Luhan chuckled for the nth time that day, and shook his head. "I hate my life too. I am sick of myself that I have no one that will support me except you."

Sooyoung circled her hands around his tiny waist, bringing herself much closer to Luhan. The latter feared that his heartbeat might be heard, and he cussed at himself secretly.

She asked softly. "I'm always here for you, just like how you are always going to be with me. Right?"

Luhan smiled. "Always. I will never leave you, the day that I leave you is the day I take my last breath." He could feel his heart rising unhealthily. 'And the day I stop loving you.' He grinned to himself, and in the fresh air.

He felt good. He always felt good whenever Choi Sooyoung was near him.

"Why aren't there any students?" Sooyoung asked; her eyebrows arched in confusion. Her frown deepened and she squinted her eyes, "Unless, you wake me up early." She stood with arms akimbo, glaring till to death at Luhan.

"Well," Luhan paused, pressing his lips into a firm and straight line, "I just...like mornings. Aren't mornings always cheerful? Look at the sky, look at the sun! And absolutely look at those birds and clouds!" Luhan chuckled, and rubbed his nape nervously.

Sooyoung said gloomily. "Well, the morning is cheerful enough for me to kill you, Han."

"Ehy, don't be like this to your best friend." Luhan cooed, batting his eyelashes. "I will buy for you anything!"

"Anything?" Sooyoung tapped on her chin, and huffed out a little frustrated sigh. "I hate this very fact that I can't think of anything but food especially milk." She stuck out her lip like a lost child, and messed up her hair.

Luhan sniggered. "Alright then, milk it is, my adorable piggy." Laughing his head off, Luhan dashed off, not wanting to be killed by the angered brunette. Although it might be a harsh joke on Choi Sooyoung, she just didn't know how much courage Luhan took to say it.

"Does she like banana or strawberry or chocolate milk?" Luhan pondered over the question, juggling the coins in his hand.

"I'm going to settle on chocolate. Alright. Chocolate." Luhan nodded to himself, and pursed his lip. He pressed on the button, and waited patiently for his drink to drop down.

He smiled to himself, and grabbed the two chocolate milk from the vending machine. "Ah, it's so cold." He shivered to himself, and rushed back to the school hallway. He didn't bother about the chillness that was slowly eating him up, and sending goose bumps all over. He didn't care, after all, everything in his mind and heart was that one girl who was waiting for arrival.

Luhan looked around the quiet hallway hurriedly. His breathing got heavier and hitcher as he bit on his lower lip anxiously.

He mumbled. "Where could she have gone?" It was the only question that seemed to be stuck on his mind. He knew she was old enough to take care of herself, yet there was a little part of him in his heart that nudged at him that she was still that big baby he had to take care of.

He wouldn't know what he would likely do to himself if she was harmed during his absence. Luhan was certain he could never eat peacefully again.

He paused for awhile, straining his ears. He was quite sure of himself when he heard soft whispers from one of the classrooms. Luhan shook his head off from the paranormal things, and scorned to himself.

"Geez, man up, and see whether she is in that classroom." Luhan hissed to himself, his heart thumping louder than before.

He was scared, well, it wasn't an offend to the cowards to be scared, right?

Luhan tiptoed, his chest heaved up and down in fear. His grab around the milk tightened, as he got closer to the classrom. "She better be there," Luhan huffed out a little breath.

As he got closer to their supposing new classroom, he could hear soft mumbles and whispers. That was strange. Luhan swore that he and Sooyoung were the only one who arrived to the school as early as now, and Sooyoung didn't have the behavior of talking to herself.

Luhan peeped into the classroom, with his breath held. He could feel his lips tugged up into a small and relieved sigh when he saw the familiar petite figure of her.

"Sooyoung, here you are! I was wandering where─"

Luhan paused, and halted his steps when he noticed there was one unfamiliar figure standing not so far away from Sooyoung. He was curious, and couldn't help but wondered who exactly was this stranger. Although Luhan didn't know who exactly was it, but he sure was not liking the presence of that stranger near Sooyoung, he didn't like the strange vibe of interest the stranger was giving to him.

Being taught of manners, Luhan bowed curtly at the stranger, despite the fact that he wanted to frown right on the spot, he forced a smile. "I'm Luhan, and she is Sooyoung. We are new to this school, and please do take care of us." Luhan liked the way his tongue rolled out her special name, and how much comfort and protection it brought to his heart whenever he mentioned her name.

"Let's get going, Luhan. I'm hungry." Sooyoung fixed her tie, and trotted her way out of the classroom without even turning back.

"I guess we'll be going then?" Luhan smiled, and gave a curt nod, before hurriedly leaving the classroom to catch up with Sooyoung.
