"Omma," I say with tears in my eyes, "you need to be okay!"

"I'll be alright Soomi.." she says, choking on her own voice.  Both my mom and dad are ill, and there isn't enough money to pay for surgery and care.  I sighed.  My job is only paying me 30,000W ($30US) a week.  There is no way to pay for these things unless they survive ten years later, which I HIGHLY doubt.  

I left the hospital with hot tears in my eyes.  The overwhelming sensation of hurt flows through my tears.  I really want to die, I live a hard life.  Working hard, parents are ill, and having hallucinations about the person I love most.. Lee Jinki.  Pain started to rise in my heart thinking about all this, thinking about life.  Days were the same since two years ago.  I would go to school, visit my parents, work, and sometimes street-perform.  I loved singing so earning extra money for what I love to do is what makes me happy -  or at least, a better condition than sad.

Since today is a Friday, I can street-perform.  It gives me a little bit of extra money, but still it's not enough.  I walked down the streets of Seoul, meeting up with my friend, Miyoung.  She and her parents own a kareoke shop, which is the whole reason I can street perform.  I fixed the sleeve of my shirt as I got ready to perform.

"Performing today," I said in a monotone voice.  I don't want my best friend to know that I feel depressed.  She hates it when I'm like that. 

"Sure.. the speakers are already set up.  The mic is in the closet over there," Miyoung explains and gets back to her customers.  I grabbed the mic from the closet and set it up outside.  Today, I was going to sing a song that means a whole lot to me.  It's perfect for what situation I'm in.  ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVTwKO0Q2NQ )

I started to sing the lyrics.  The meaningful words escaped my lips following the rhythm of the instrumental.  Taking a glance, I see people circleling around me, starting to listen.  I put more power in my voice as more people came to watch.  Every now and then people would start placing money in the bin below my shoes.  The song ended and everyone applauded.  I gave them my best smile (it's hard to smile in the situation I'm in) and bowed, thanking them.  I was overall happy.  It was nice to see people enjoyed what I liked to do.  As I was going to walk back to the kareoke bar to return the things, a man dressed in formal attire approached me.  I looked up at him, a little bit confused.

"You were great," he says, "you have potential to be a star.. a great star."

"Thank you," I bow.  A compliment means a lot to me.

"Now," he says placing a business card on my hand, "I'm giving you an exclusive chance to be that star."

"W-what??" 

"That's right.  You don't even have to auditon considering how great you are.  I'm offering you a chance to be a trainee at SM entertainment."

"Thank you.."

"If you turn up the contract, please call the phone number by tomorrow... Goodbye." He says and walks away.

A chance to be a star, huh?  Sounds good to me.  And if it pays more than what I have now, I definitely need to take this chance!  I walk back to the kareoke shop with the money and business card in my right hand.

"Want to eat dinner since your on break Miyoung?" I offered her. 

"Sounds great," she smiles.

As we were walking down the streets of Seoul, I explained to her what happened earlier.  The chance of becoming a star.

"I mean, I don't know.. I need more money, and.. it's what I love to do" I explain to her.

"Then go for it!  You never know.  But just be careful and note that becoming a star is not as great as it seems." she said.

We have dukbokki for dinner and chat.  As the end of the night comes, I stare at the card.  SM entertainment - you chance to become an Asian star.  And it has the number on it.  Should I do it?
