eighteen; grudges and bitterness
Some Girls Have All the Luck
Three days later and still Sera was being friendly to her. She knew Marsha was dying to cut her neck or wanted her dead right there in an instant. Sera, however, was somehow oblivious from Marsha's glaring looks toward her. As much as she was thankful that Sera's her friend now, she somehow wanted to have some space. Seriously. She couldn't take all the weird glances her classmates were giving her.
Yesterday, Sera brought her three mini cakes and everyone was shocked like they still couldn't believe it's happening. Mina took the cakes though even if she felt a little awkward. She was aware of Sehun's piercing look too, unlike his friends. Especially Chen. He looked somewhat happy that things got a little better for her.
That afternoon, it was there gym class and they all gathered on the field after changing into their school P.E uniforms. They did warm-up exercises first before playing soccer. "Jung Mina, let's see your skill to be a soccer goalkeeper." Mrs Park called her attention.
She blinked at her. "M-Ma'am I can't. I mean—"
"Come on, just try."
Mina gulped as she dragged her feet towards the soccer goalposts. Great. She hated this kind of sport because she's afraid of the ball. She knew how it hurts to be hit by a soccer ball.
"Okay," Mrs Park went on. "Our players would be Sera, Marsha, Jaekyung, Hwayoung, and Saem. Now you girls should try to earn a goal. Whoever earns a goal first will earn the biggest points. While you Mina, try your best to block the soccer balls. If you block them all, you'll earn points."
"Wait, Mrs Park." Mina squeaked. "I-I don't think I can do this."
"The witch is chickened-," Marsha smirked.
"Quit it, Marsh." Sera hushed her. "Don't be like that."
Marsha rolled her eyes. "Whatever."
"Mina, I don't want you to flunk you in gym class." The gym class teacher said. Mina sighed in hopelessness. She doesn't want to fail this class either so what can she do?
"Y-Yes, ma'am." She said. Five balls were then placed in front of the girls. Mina braced herself for the attack. Jaekyung kicked first and she managed to block it. Hwayoung's and Saem's too. Now it was Sera's turn. Before she kicked her ball, she managed to smile at her. Like she was telling her that she will kick the ball softly enough for her to block it with no sweat.
Mina couldn't help but smile back.
Sera gave one last nod and kicked her ball. But then Marsha kicked hers too, the same moment with Sera that made Mina panicked in a instant. She managed to block Sera's ball, but Marsha's ball went straight to her face. Hard. Mina lost her balance because of the impact and fell. She felt an awful pain on her face. She wished there was no blood running from her nose though.
"What the hell, Marsh?" She heard Sera snapped.
"What?" Marsha asked innocently. Mina was sure the did it on purporse. She meant to hit her on the face. "I was just kicking my ball. It wasn't my fault if the ball hit her face."
"No." Sera muttered. "It's the fact that you kicked the same time as me. You should've wait for me. Look what you've done. You injured Mina—"
"I can't believe you are saying this to me. I'm your best friend."
"Are you okay, Mina?" Mrs Park came to help her stand. Sehun's four friends came after. They all helped her stand. "Let me see your face."
Mina looked up and feeling somewhat dizzy. "I-Is there blood coming out of my nose?" She managed to ask.
"No, thank God." It was Xiumin.
