I had been prepared for my Dad’s unstoppable complains and unnecessary lectures late night. It’s my fault that I’ve gotten carried away with Eunjung trying to find out about her solitary crush in the century. My heart jumps in joy when I opened the first front door not to be waited by him and my smile grew even wider when I successfully sneaked my way up to my bedroom. But my footsteps stopped right in front of my door to my bedroom when my ears caught the sound of my dad being on the phone with someone in the next room… His study room.

I stopped eavesdropping when I know he was putting the phone down and slowly opened up the door to my room and locked it right away, I waited by the door to hear if he’s going out of the room any time soon and I was right, I could hear his steps walking passed by my room. My heart nearly dropped, while my face is as pale as the color to my walls when he went back to my room and tried to open my door, he noticed that it is now locked.

“Jiyeon, you’re home already? Are you asleep?”,

I purposely let him think that I snoozed off on my bed. He let me go when I’m not responding to his questions any longer… I washed my face before going to bed, but as expected my eyes won’t shut down, not after what I’ve just heard.

The next thing in the morning went awkward than any other days ever since I caught him in action last night, or so I think he did what he did. Anyway, he has to confess it to me as soon as possible because I remember he mentioned meeting me with this lady of his. I pretended to be busy with the breakfast when usually the maid got it all prepared on the tables already.

“Jiyeon, what are you making?”, His first greet by the counter that separates the kitchen and the dining hall.

“Breakfast.”,

“I thought I saw it already on the table, no?”, he turned back to take a peek at the dining table. “Here…”,

I kept silent and returned back to the dining with empty hand. I pulled out the chair leaving the squeaky sound that even I couldn’t stand it. I sit back while looking at him anxiously. I need to say something before Eunjung come and take me away.

“Do you have paper today Jiyeon?”,

“No, why?”, I shot back the answer so sudden leaving him to wonder with his blurry face.

“So do you think you can get home a little early later tonight?”,

“Alright Dad, Eunjung’s here! Got to go… Bye, Love you!”,

“Jiyeon, you haven’t touched your breakfast! Yet... Love you too.”, he sighed as his eyes watched me leaving the house.

I came rushing in Eunjung’s car and slammed the door a little too hard, making Eunjung startled by the sudden attack.

“So I figured you weren’t scold by your Dad last night for getting home late?”,

“Nope! Not even the slightest, I was so happy that I couldn’t fall asleep that well last night…”, I laughed.

“What happened?”, she chuckled a bit as she starts to drive us to the open road.

“I thought I’d be dead the moment I stepped inside the house, but I didn’t! And you know something? Surprisingly, I caught him talking on the phone… with a lady.”, I whispered to her closely.

Bad idea to tell her when she’s in the middle of the road, driving fast and me bringing the shocking news without thinking about it further because she instantly pulled the car brake and we’re lucky that there were not many cars behind of us.
