Foreword

A man in his twenties was sitting down, with arms hugging his legs occupying a small area on the long stretch of street. His hair was messy, with strands falling all over his face making his face unpleasant looking. His clothes consist of just a plain shirt with pants that reached his knees. He looked innocently at the herd of people walking past him as a few dropped some coins on the floor for him.

He wondered why they did that but took the money anyway, to buy the necessities he needed. His parents had abandoned him, they had been struggling hard to get by with their lives and he was just an extra burden who had a disease. Therefore, they cruelly threw their only son out on the streets leaving him to fend for himself.

Even so, he was not afraid. His disease made him slow and clueless; he did not know the severity of the situation when his own parents abandoned him. He moved on with life bravely, believing that everything will work out just fine as it did for him now. He had money to feed himself and buy one or two clothes; which was all he needed. Even though many considered his disease an omen and shunned him, it did not stop him from continuing life with a positive attitude.

Darkness surrounded the whole city now with decorations of colourful lights hung all over the buildings, making the city shine beautifully. He took in the beautiful sight and admired it for what seemed like moments until a couple stood before him. The man bent down and asked with a gentle voice, “Boy, why are you here? Where is your home?”

It took a while for the question to sink in his head before he finally said, “I have no home”.

The couple gasped asking, “Why? Where are your parents?”

Again, there was a moment of silence before he answered, “They abandoned me because they were too poor and also because of my disease”.

“How could they?!” The woman frowned at the boy’s fate. He seemed so fragile, so thin like a stick it almost looked like he was malnourished. He just kept quiet at their question.

“What’s your name boy?” the man asked.

“Kim Jaejoong”. The couple looked at each other, contemplating about what they should do. They were very rich and their mansion obviously has enough room for this boy to stay in but they were afraid of the troubles he would bring. After about twenty minutes of thinking, they decided to take the boy in since they always had been kind-hearted and they knew taking him in was better than letting him stay in the cold streets.

“Come boy, follow us. We’ll take you in and take care of you, don’t worry” The man said while smiling warmly to him. He grabbed Jaejoong’s arm gently, a sign for him to get up. Jaejoong got up and followed them back all the way home. He did not really think of the dangers of following a stranger back home but it was the first time someone actually asked him to and so he did.

They arrived at the mansion and Jaejoong just gawked at the huge house displayed in front of him.

“Come Jaejoong, we’ll show you around the house,” The woman said before pulling Jaejoong inside of the huge mansion waiting for him. The insides of the mansion were exactly as big as the outside looked. It was painted beige making it look homely. There were not much furniture in it and the living room was extremely big with a thirty-inch plasma television right in the centre of it. There were several sofas and couches too; overall, it was very elegant and sophisticated.

“Oh wait, I have to introduce you to my son first. Yunho!” She shouted loudly and there was echo produced because of how big the house was. After waiting for a few minutes, Yunho did not appear and so she called another time in a louder tone, “YUNHO!”

A few minutes later, a man also in his youth wearing a long sleeved cotton tee with long brown pants walked down the stairs. “What?” he looked at them, annoyed for wasting his time.

“Don’t be so rude Yunho, we’re your parents,” she chided him. “Anyway, we decided to take in this child we found on the street. Apparently, his parents abandoned him because they were poor and his disease. So say hello to Jaejoong, he’s around your age I believe”.

“What? You took him in? What for?! He might be trying to cheat your money for goodness sake” Yunho frowned at his parents ‘stupidity’. Yunho had always been quite the opposite of his parents. While they were kind, compassionate and patient, he was unkind, mean and impatient. Only God knows why they were so contradictory.

“Don’t be so mean Yunho. What if you were him? With no home to stay and a disease?” the man scolded his son for being so selfish.

“In this case, I’m not him so that’s not really my problem. If you will excuse me, I still have many works yet to be done. If you’re planning on taking him in, just tell him not to bother me” Yunho said rudely and walked away.

A/n:Jaejoong is supposed to be funny with his silence>
