The History of a Fire Escape
i once loved going to the hospital
to help the stray chairs
invade the hallway
as they poke and prod the wooden floorboards
i once loved going to the hospital
to hum the beep beeps
straining your chest
and the thin cloth that protects you
i once loved going to the hospital
back when i didn't have tubes in me
to hold me down
so they could see inside of my heart
big enough to take a whole army
of stray people
big enough for the stardust
to my fingertips
big enough to swallow you
