Jungkook was used to traveling with silent companions, Hoseok being the most chatty but always being quieted by Jin or Taehyung, and so as he and Yoongi began to make their way to where the feline man said they were, Jungkook was shocked at how much the other talked. For the almost full hour that they traveled through the forest Yoongi kept up a steady, quiet chatter; everything he had to say was in a near whisper, but it still overloaded Jungkook’s mind and left him nearly speechless.
“You don’t talk much, do you? Hoseok said you were friendly…” Yoongi’s sudden question brought the teen out of his daze and he lifted his eyes to meet the glowing cat like ones in front of him. Those eyes still brought a bit of unease to him and he shifted his gaze uncomfortably away.
“Uh,” he said stupidly, and Yoongi merely snickered at him and continued on his way through the forest, confidently leading even when it was too dark for Jungkook to see where they were going.
“Are you one of the Broken?” he finally asked, curiosity warring with the hesitance he felt from such a strange person, and Yoongi let out a sharp laugh that cut through the stillness of the night. Jungkook jumped and looked around, hoping they hadn’t been heard, but the other seemed to pay no heed to the maknae’s wariness.
“No, I’m not Broken,” he said bitterly. “They tested me and I failed, luckily. I’m just… an oddity.”

Luckily they tested me in the day and nothing happened, but when I was seventeen my parents found out about my ability and sent me to the village priest. He told them I was an abomination, and decided to turn me in to the authorities, but my mom hid me instead. She gave me supplies and told me to run, and so here I am. I haven’t been home since.” His voice was tinged with regret and with love for his parents, and Jungkook felt the sharp pang of jealousy flood through him. How different it would have been had his own mom fought for him…
“We’re here!” Yoongi said brightly, and though the place they were standing in was clear of any other people, Jungkook knew Taehyung’s ability too well to think otherwise. Trees and boulders were thick in this area and he knew that the surviving Broken were probably hidden inside of them… if Taehyung had survived the attack at the border, that is. Yoongi looked around for a moment, his yellow eyes glowing faintly even with the dim light, and then opened his mouth and let out a…
Meow?
A really loud one, too, and Jungkook flinched at the horrible sound. Human throats are not made to make that noise and as he decided to ask Yoongi what he was smoking, a hand reached out of one of the large pine trees and out stepped Taehyung. Yoongi gave him a bright smile, then turned to Jungkook with a shrug. “It was the signal; we had to be sure that no one accidently said the signal and so decided on that.”
‘Because no one in their right mind would stand in the middle of the woods and meow,’ Jungkook thought, once again deciding that Yoongi was a bit cr
