"I'm sorry"
Running to Happiness with Secrets“L.” Someone shook the lifeless body lying on the bed, covered under a mountain of blankets.
“Leave me alone,” they actually responded.
“Get up, and eat; I made kimchi stew. You like that right?”
“Seriously, just shut up.”
“I know you’re going through your little phase, but that’s no way to speak to your hyung like that,” the leader kicked an arm hanging off the side of the bed.
“I’M NOT HUNGRY!”
“Fine, be that way, I won’t even give a damn when your stomach acid burns a hole through you.”
“Hope your wish comes true, hyung.”
Sunggyu sighed loudly after noticing that Myungsoo had unplugged all lamps in his rooms and made his way to the black curtains draping down the windows. He pulled them apart in a split second, trying to get some light in. To his dismay, rain was already dripping down from the heavy looking clouds sinking down in the sky and the sun was nowhere to be seen.
“Myungsoo, is there something wrong between you and Sungyeol?”
“There’s nothing-” the younger propped up from his bed and faced the elder. “Wait. How did you know- when did- How do you know about Sungyeol?”
“We went to the same high school.” Sunggyu stared at the floor, “we were even friends at one point, but then many things happened, and our group just broke apart.”
“Why didn’t you say anything all along?”
“There was no need Myungsoo and I also didn’t think you’d be with him for this long. You know how you were with all those other partners before; you weren’t serious with any of them.”
“But he’s different than the others!”
“He is, he’s someone you have to be gentle with. He’s not as strong. Don’t you get it Myungsoo? He needs someone that can be there for him, willing to take the same road as him, but you’re never there when he needs you. Just let him go if you can’t meet the expectations.”
“I can’t hyung. It’s not that easy. I do want to be there for him, I swear.”
“But the president won’t allow it?” Sunggyu finished the younger’s sentence.
The boy nodded in agreement. “I can’t even leave if I want to, I’ve signed a contract. I either have to pay for the losses or get sued, there are no more moves.”
“Leaving Sungyeol hanging isn’t the right answer, Myungsoo. Let go of him starting from today onwards. It will make everything easier, trust me.”
“Easier? How? Do you even have any idea what you’re telling me to do, hyung? How can I trust someone else on my future?”
“Myungsoo,” Sunggyu becomes a bit impatient with him, “just take my word for it so we can call it a day.”
“What the hell! You don’t have a single right to get in between-”
“Myungsoo, come over here right now.” Sunggyu’s tone turned even more demanding, causing the other to do as he requested.“Is that person sitting on the sidewalk across the street Sungyeol?”
Myungsoo took a better look to confirm. A tall boy was sitting on the wet sidewalk while the rain started to get heavier as they spoke. He didn’t even have a hood to begin with.
“He’s going to get sick for sure if he stays like that. Actually, I’d say he’s only going to last for another hour at the most.”
Myungsoo slightly pushed the elder aside and opened his window.
“Sungyeol!” He yelled. “LEE SUNGYEOL!” He tried again, but he got no answer. The distance between them were too far apart, considering the fact he was living on the twentieth floor.
Sunggyu closed the window, pulled the curtains back together, and w
